- This is my first reaction to Dimash singing Daididau.
First I watch his performance from The Singer incl the back story from Gloria Wu's Channel, then Bastau.
This was the most beautiful performance I have ever seen.

Seeing him cry made me cry. It was a long- awaited dream of his that finally came true, singing this particular song for an international audience. Even after his performance of Daididau on The Singer, he cried backstage, because he had fulfilled a dream of sharing this song and Kazakh culture in another country.

If you rewatch the Bastau concert, his ear monitor was not working. He gave signal to his team at the beginning of the song by pointing onto his ear monitor. In the end, he sang the whole song without his ear monitor on🌹

Well you did it again :) You are such a sweetheart. And you mentioned your grandfather recovering from the horrible virus. What a blessing!! Daididau means so much to Dimash because it is about his country and his dream to introduce all countries to his homeland. Many of his fans call him their Prince so your observation is correct. I kind of laughed when you said you were only going to do this for a week. I am 71 and I never would have dreamed I would become a member of a fan club. When he touches your heart there is no going back. Great seeing you again and happy about your grandfather.

I was in NY concert this past December, he got very emotional hearing the audience from USA and other countries (non Kazakh speaking) singing this song along. It was an experience!!

This is my favorite song of Dimash and when he performed live in New York, I was there can not hold my tears. It was an unforgettable experience when I and many others Dears from different countries witnessed the proud and emotional moment of Dimash’s realized dream: introduction of his culture and country to the world.
Moreover, this is like a story of a small guy fighting vs. Goliath (the record music industry that poisoned the youth with their trash). Remember the World’s Best show when Dimash walked away from the $1 Million prize due to conflict with his culture?
And finally was able to set his foot back to the US without the help of the Record music industry.

Such a beautiful reaction to such a beautiful song!! You should watch him performing it at his New York concert sometime. When I watched the video, I cried. He was so overwhelmed to have a stadium in the US singing Kazhak with him. SO special!

The lady whom Dimash met at the beginning of Gloria Wu channel is Ms Maira Mukhammad, one of his mentor with whom he sang the duet of "My Swan/Akkuym" as I have recommended earlier. Watch that duet from Bastau concert, 😊😊😊❤. The outfit is called Sapaan/Chapaan, he invited his colleagues from his music college, Kazakhstan to play with him in the Singers, the old couple they were showing are his teachers. I love the New York concert version of "Daididau" ❤

I'm so glad you finally reacted to this song. Daididau has a special place for Dimash. He's always performing this song abroad. He's proud and wants to show Kazakh culture to the world. What's not to like? As you can see from Bastau concert he got really emotional as he's performing his own solo concert after The Singer competition. Beautiful yet powerful song.
He's really developed the song throughout the years. When I saw it performed in 2015?( Or sometime earlier in his career) it was a very pop version. He made it more traditional and dramatic for the Singer show. Then at New York concert he added some beautiful ad-libs

This has always been my very favorite performance of Dimash since the first time I watched it. From the 100 dombra players, to the cheering when he's first highlighted on the stage, to the tender sound in his voice, to the traditional musicians, to his powerful voice, to his emotional finale. I absolutely love it all. And not to mention he really does look like a prince! Thank you for your, as always, heartfelt reaction! Hugs from Las Vegas!

Hi Sabina. When you go to Dimash's concert in Prague next year, see if the Dears who plan to attend will have a pre-concert party. If so, you may meet some of the other reactors on TH-cam from all over the world. I think that hose who attended the London concert had the opportunity to meet some of his family members. Those who went to London may want to comment.

Boat Trip along the Thames and yes, Dimash’s mother Sveta, his sister Raushan and his godmother Aigan joined us on the boat. They were lovely & no one will ever forget Sveta singing (acapello) with the lights of London as a backdrop that night. She talked of us all being part of their family 💕 Plymouth UK 🇬🇧

obviously i love all his songs but this one just touch my feelings on a deeper level,

but when i find out that is how he used to call his beloved, i was in tears listening again to the beautiful song and the way Dimash displays the sorrow and pain.

This song “DAIDIDAU” is dearest in his heart...and it has been his dream to sing this in front of big audience and introduce this to foreign land.He gets so overwhelmed every time the audience are singing this song in his concerts.
Dears have learned this song phonetically to sing with him when he asks, which it at most concerts. At the concert in New York he was overwhelmed, several times, when thousands of people, from 60+ countries, most not speaking the language, sang along with him. When he finished singing he bowed like he did here, wiped his eyes then looked up with the biggest smile on his face. His childhood dreams were coming true. It was an incredible feeling to be a part of that. It was a concert I will not forget. Dimash is a messenger of unity, compassion, caring, and love, and his Dears are connected regardless of the country, age, race, or creed. Stay safe and healthy! Blessings to you!

I agree, a simply beautiful performance. I could feel how personal and important this song was to Dimash, I am sure it gave him a great sense of pride to share it with an international audience. What an absolute treasure Dimash is, he has been a source of happiness, hope, and light for me in these troubling times lately. Thank you Sabina, and just know that we love you too!
The piece of music was written by Kazakh poet Magzhan Zhumabayev, who used to call his beloved wife Zylikha - Daididau.
Magzhan’s wife’s name was Zylikha Qurmanbaykizi. They knew each other from the childhood as far as they were distantly related: Zylikha’s father and Magzhan grandfather (mother’s father) were brothers. Magzhan fell in love with a young beauty when they were 16-17 years old. He sent her a letter expressing his feels before he left homeland and went to studying in Ufa madrasah (1910, July). But young Zylikha was too shy to respond to his feelings. Three years later she was engaged to the local merchant. In 1917 Magzhan married to the girl Zeinep. She was from the jet-setting family, and a remote relative to Shoqan Ualikhanov. The marriage was Magzhan’s parents’ choice. And he had no issue with it. The marriage did not last for a long time. In 1919 Zeinep died in childbirth. A year later Zylikha widowed too.
People says Magzhan and Zylikha were meant to be together. They married in 1922. Unfortunately, family happiness was short.
Kazakh poet was arrested twice: in 1926 and 1937.
When he was arrested for the first time all of his relatives were persecuted too. His brothers were arrested. Even his younger brother Salimzhan was captured on his way from Leningrad (Saint Petersburg) where he went to know Magzhan’s fate. The rest ones looked away from Magzhan’s family in fear to be captured too. But Zylikha never gave up. In spite of all risk she went to Leningrad for the several times to support her husband. She was keeping bringing him food and clothes. She reached out Russian writer Maksim Gorkiy and asked him for a help who rescued many intellectuals during Repression years. Finally, Gorkiy helped to Magzhan too and the poet was set free in 1936.
The second and last arrest was fatal for him. Kazakh poet was executed by shooting in 1938.

The biographers studying his life think the song could be written in 1930 when Magzhan was sent to Karelia. Nobody talked openly who was the author of the song being afraid it could be the object of the State Censorship. The song was used in Kazakh Soviet movie “Shanyrak” directed by Edige Bolysbayev. Those in the know about the song told to the movie director that he brought their dreams come truth.
Nowadays Daididau is the most famous Kazakh song in the whole world thanks to Dimash Kudaibergen great performance.
During his time in prison, he was mistakenly informed that his wife left him. The song Daididau is a response to this information:

Hi Sabina, this song is beautiful, in all the concerts he sing like 4 songs from his country Daididau is one of then and the dears sing with him. This Bastau Concert was his first solo concert after the Singer 2017 competition in the same year with an audience of 40,000 people, and total success like all his concert. Dimash is very excited, when he opens his arms like that he means giving a hug thanking the public, then he takes his hand to the heart , he ate saying how much love he feels for his audience and you start so see when he finishes singing he always has a look up. He always says when Asked about his success or fame that Dimash is having says that first it is because the one above allows it. I'm glad you reacted to both performances. When Dimash sang this in NYC and the audience sang along, it was one of the most moving things I experienced. He was so overcome with emotion that people in America were singing a Kazakh song. I thought my heart would burst. The Dears network is not perfect, but it is the most open, welcoming group I've ever been a part of. I feel that since I got to know Dimash, his music, and the Dears, I have become a more patient and accepting person. I really feel he is changing lives.
His Daididau performances are all very emotional... I think almost the whole audience teared up in New York after all of us sang this song together with him... Dimash's dream was to sing Daididau to an international audience - thousands of people from many countries around the world flew to Kazakhstan for the Bastau concert. His dream came true. That's why he cried with emotion and we in front of the screens with him💖. And we love him very much. Dear forever 😘

Did you notice that just as his voice soared in the videos of "We Are One" and "Across Endless Dimensions" an eagle took flight. I don't think it's a coincidence that the official animal of Kazakhstan is the golden eagle. I think that the pose Dimash takes at the end of many songs eg. "Opera 2", or especially here, where he's dressed in gold, with his arms outstretched, doesn't mean "Look at me." like some reactors have commented. I think he is symbolically embracing the audience in his "wings".

For a long time, it was believed that Daididau is a Kazakh folk song. But as it comes, the piece of music was written by Kazakh poet Magzhan Zhumabayev, who used to call his beloved wife Zylikha - Daididau.
Magzhan’s wife’s name was Zylikha Qurmanbaykizi. They knew each other from the childhood as far as they were distantly related: Zylikha’s father and Magzhan grandfather (mother’s father) were brothers. Magzhan fell in love with a young beauty when they were 16-17 years old. He sent her a letter expressing his feels before he left homeland and went to studying in Ufa madrasah (1910, July). But young Zylikha was too shy to respond to his feels. Three years later she was engaged to the local merchant. In 1917 Magzhan married to the girl Zeinep. She was from the jet-setting family, and a remote relative to Shoqan Ualikhanov. The marriage was Magzhan’s parents’ choice. And he had no issue with it. The marriage did not last for a long time. In 1919 Zeinep died in childbirth. A year later Zylikha widowed too.
People says Magzhan and Zylikha were meant to be together. They married in 1922. Unfortunately, family happiness was short.
Kazakh poet was arrested twice: in 1926 and 1937.
When he was arrested for the first time all of his relatives were persecuted too. His brothers were arrested. Even his younger brother Salimzhan was captured on his way from Leningrad (Saint Petersburg) where he went to know Magzhan’s fate. The rest ones looked away from Magzhan’s family in fear to be captured too. But Zylikha never gave up. In spite of all risk she went to Leningrad for the several times to support her husband. She was keeping bringing him food and clothes. She reached out Russian writer Maksim Gorkiy and asked him for a help who rescued many intellectuals during Repression years. Finally, Gorkiy helped to Magzhan too and the poet was set free in 1936.
The second and last arrest was fatal for him. Kazakh poet was executed by shooting in 1938.
