Had exactly the same problem today in my Dodge grand caravan after the storm, this video is super helpful, followed it exactly and now it’s fixed. Thanks so much for the video.
Thank you! This helped me avoid going to a shop and helped me diagnose my 2014 prius' problem. Didn't realize these nuts loosen up. I tightened up all three nuts and am happy that my wife got home safely with her wipers literally crossed and doing nothing as they were interlocked. Probably going to make checking these nuts an annual item as this kind of issue could cause an accident.
Thank you very much, this was the exact fix needed on a rainy dark highway night. Now I’ll let others know around me since this has never happened in many years in lots of cars
I agree - not an expert but on my car the drivers wiper is bigger than the other & I wonder if that makes it work loose ? Like it covers more area & more likely to drag & pull loose as opposed to the smaller one ?
Pro-tip, do not tighten the nut with the arm in the down position. This tightens the nut to the arm and will loosen over time. To ensure that the nut doesn't loosen over time, bring the arm in the up position to tighten. If you tighten the nut when it's in the down position, test its tightness by lifting the arm up and wiggle it. If the arm still rotates freely, tighten it with the arm in the up position. Literally just happened on my 2022 Impreza.
I did mine twice and now need to do it again and was thinking that it might need a rubber washer, locktite or a locking washer but now after seeing this .... I'm done I think. Thanks!
@@DrewBedson if it does come loose again you can try using a rubber washer or any old o-ring that will fit as an extra measure. I did it with mine as well and haven't had any issues 2 years later with moderate use. Glad it helped.
Mine just keeps getting loses and quits working now this time both sides. I'm going to try this .if not do you think it's the Transmission for the windshield wipers?
Perfect! It happened to my HONDA CRV 2020 recently after severe weather and I forgot that the blades would be frozen and accidently turned the wiper on and I knew it that something bad has happened :( after a few days the blade on the driving side started showing signs just the way Dicaprio showed signs of slowing down when he took quaaludes in The Wolf of Wall Street and these days its pretty screwed. I noticed tonight that the blade is pretty flimsy and thankfully found this video ! Gona try it this weekend. THANKS A TON!
Thank you for the video, it saved me 172 dollar's. I thought that it was the motor but just a loose nut from trying to use it in the snow. We don't generally get snow where I'm from and there was a lot, wasn't sure what to do. Looked it up and thought I had broken the motor.
For heavens sake man I was wondering what I can do to fix this issue on my car and I searched around for 10 minutes with stupid advice about wd40 or adjusting the stupid spring before discovering this. I am not very mechanically incline so thanks man. I have run the wipers with ice/doesn't move before it totally makes sense that's the source of lack of tension. Thank you!
