      I’m glad I found your video. I’m contemplating where to put multiple long case clocks around the house and I thought I was the only one with this disease!!

    My grandfather recently passed and has left his clock to me. I haven’t heard it chime since my grandmother passed when I was 16. Thanks for the tips! I can’t wait to hear it chime and sit and cry in my living room.

    Nice job. I move a clock about 7 years ago about 300 miles. Weights and pendulum disassembled and then packed the clock with tailored closed cell foam blocks to secure all internals and chimes. Your job was more thorough and proper. Nice job for you and your daughter!

      Thanks Lee. I’m actually shocked that it came through the move in working order!

    I go to a number of estate sales and one of the things I'm wanting to get is a Grand father clock but was concerned about how to move it without damaging it Thank you for showing me how to properly do it.

    My plan was to stabilize the weights and works with bubble wrap and painters tape and put it on my furniture dolly and wheel it around the corner. 😊

    I may be buying a Gebruder Resch 3 weight grande sonnerie tomorrow or day after, the thought of moving it across town is nerve wracking. Your tip on weight location and taping the spools is helpful, thanks very much.

    Amazing clocks Scott! Nothing but classic here. I have an original hand made coo koo clock from the black
    Hills of Germany. We purchased it while on vacation over there. I need to get that thing back hanging up. You inspired me to do so! Thanks for sharing!

    I’m waiting on my first ever grand father clock to arrive this week unfortunately the courier does not assemble the clock on deliver so watching a lot of TH-cam videos to see if possible I can put it together myself the mechanism is very much like the one on this clock in your video so I’m guessing I will find this video very helpful it’s a early 1900s grandfather clock has been serviced and cleaned prior and has seconds hand and also the chime on / chime off which was a big selling point for me as don’t want it chiming when I am in bed 😊

    Both beautiful clocks, the first one I suspect is early 1800's, maybe as late as 1815, the second one is maybe a little earlier judging by the dial (assuming it's original to the case and the movement). I love the slim trunks of the late 1700's and early 1800's clocks, they look so much more elegant than the later ones. My favourites are the early painted dial clocks, from around 1770 to 1800.

    😭❓H E L P.... We moved our clock from living room, 10 feet away to dining room and has not worked. Took forever to get it level... months and we think we did it today. Same hard flooring throughout and no transition pieces to move over. We moved it like a baby after removing the weights and pendulum. Everything is back where it should be as we marked everything. Stopped again!! After about 5 or 10 minutes. So discouraged. Wish we never moved it as it was perfect.
    Any suggestions? We are frustrated and 💔 heartbroken.
    Help....

    • @ScottUrbach
      @ScottUrbach  ปีที่แล้ว

      Tina afraid I may not be much help. You are on the right track to make sure it is level on all axis. Not leaning in any direction. You made sure weights are back on the correct side and that the pendulum is properly seated. The top is very delicate - and should not be bent or creased. Sorry I cant help more

    • @ScottUrbach
      @ScottUrbach  ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry to hear Joey. I’m definitely not an expert. First thing is to check that it is level on all axis. Does the pendulum swing freely and weights on the correct sides with the cord wound correctly on the spools?
