    Why was Jesus born? To encourage us to work diligently to become more and more like him, to learn to love everyone, even our enemies.

    Great video. Great information and new knowledge, as well as perspective. I am intrigued by this "second coming" information because I have seen Jesus myself but as you stated,not with my physical eyes but with my mind's eye.
    It was Jan,2000 that I ended up in jail. I was getting ready to turn 20 years old and I had lived a life of promiscuity,drug abuse and so on. I never believed in God, nor did my mother attend or push church on us. I truly always believed if there was a God,then he definitely hated me because of the crappy life I was born to. (That's how I felt) I grew up fatherless and to an alcoholic/drug using mother. I felt I was unlucky. In turn,I went down a very bad path. Oct,28 1999 I ended up having a cocaine overdose and my heart stopped 3x. I was told by the Dr in the ER that I was lucky. I was living in a car at this point and became a heavy drinker because I was now afraid to take any drugs. I walked down a cold snowy road in December and at that point for the first time I started thinking about Jesus. I remembered hearing stories about him through television and other people. I got down on my knees and said "Jesus,if you are who they say you are,then save me" Nothing happened. Nothing magical. I went back to living in a car and drinking away my reality that my life was worthless.
    I ended up getting pulled over by detectives, who have been following my boyfriend,who was a drug dealer. I remember them pulling him out of the car and I heard a voice in my head say "The truth will set you free" I knew that that did not come from my brain. I knew that I had to take action, and I got out of the car and began babbling to the detective about every bad thing I had ever done in my life, right down to stealing candy as a child.
    I told them of the crimes I have recently been involved in months before(a robbery) and I asked them to take me to me jail,and indeed they did. I remember sleeping for many days because I had been out on the streets for so long and I was just so tired. So tired of the life I was living etc...I am not sure of the date/night it happened (I entered jail Jan 23,2000 and this number is important to me)
    I was laying in my jail bed and I was curled up crying...crying like I have never cried before. I was in so much pain,physically from crying so hard and spiritually from the life I lead. In that moment Jesus came to me. His face was so bright I couldn't look. I remember my eyes were squinting so hard that my forehead was hurting. It all happened ,what seem to be all at once. I then saw everything I had ever done and was saying how sorry I truly was,how broken I truly was. I remember being afraid when he came but also that I knew exactly who he was. I remember in that moment memories of men that had been in my life (step father,grandfather) memories of them loving me and reading to me,comforting me and in this I felt calm (felt a father connection to Jesus) I remember looking at Jesus then, and seeing him in an off white colored robe and he was very tall and he had his hands stretched out.....His face and head were brighter than the sun. My grandfather then came forward to the left side of his shoulder and told me not to be afraid,that is was ok.
    Jesus touched my forehead and I fell in a deep sleep. I remember that night having a dream of walking up on a grassy hill and seeing a large bright white cross, and it was so bright I had to cover my eyes. I woke the next morning and someone had slid a Daily Bread under my cell door. The passage for that day had a picture of a bright white cross on it and it said something like "God's salvation is bright as the sun" Not exactly sure but it basically made me remember what happened the night before, and I new that in that moment I had seen God. Everything had then been lifted off of me. Feelings of shame,worthlessness,and regret had all vanished. I was in awe that God loved me that much that he would come to me like that. It has been 16 years since this experience and my life has never been the same. The 23Psalm was the first thing I read and the number 23 pops up all the time and always reminds me of God and what He did for me. This is my story,my truth,my testimony. Thank you for what you do and the things you are sharing here on you-tube. You are waking people up. It is time.

      Hi again I went upstairs and said some prayers after reading your story it tooched me as I can relate being an ex drug user and spending my life in many prisons in u.k and on streets. I open my prayer book at random not all time but I did this time and it landed me on a prayer what I think links to your exsperence God is so cool. Hope you like peace and God's love allways with you 🙂
      O Lord Jesus Christ, who art the very bright sun of the world, ever rising and never going down: shine, we beseech thee, upon our spirit, that the night of sin and error being driven away by thy inward light, we may walk without stumbling as in the day. Grant this, O Lord, who livest and reignest with the Father and the Holy Ghost for evermore. Amen.

    I am just beginning to watch this video. (4:25)
    You know, when I get super depressed, I ask to speak to the High Heavens... not meaning any disrespect, but they already know that. I was never sure of this type of praying until now. I am grateful to Jehovah for His Love and help.
    So, the diagram shows God Jehovah and His Son Jesus as separate entities at that moment? God is above and Jesus is as a result of God's spoken word, which was always "spoken" since Eternity. This is difficult to comprehend fully because we have not experienced Eternity...yet. But, I am very curious about it all. Enquiring minds need to know! Lol
    I am so happy to you friends for making this video to explain what I have already spiritually known, but not in words. I am grateful, of course, always, to Emanuel Swedenborg, too!
    Every time I watch a nother video (I'm way behind) I feel the Love from so many places, here and in Heaven.
    Wouldn't it be lovely if those who chose hell would stop for a couple minutes and just try to understand? Some say they can't imagine staying in Heaven because they would become bored. I couldn't believe what I was reading! The real Truth is the exact opposite.
    You know, maybe, just maybe, some of those evildoers did figure it all out and are now standing in the Light of God? I hope so. 🙏😊🧡✌️

      Hi, Debra! I can see your full engagement with the questions in your mind about who God is! Allow the process to keep unfolding, my friend. You are doing exactly what Swedenborg says God wants each of us to do: applying your rationality to nebulous religious topics in order to understand them. Only then can our stated beliefs bind themselves to our hearts!

      Curtis,
      I'm sorry for the hammy comment--I was in the middle of a two day stretch preparing for final exams. I've been a fan of your channel and Swedenborg's work for a few years now. I realize that a great deal of great people have acquainted themselves with Swedenborg's work--the foundation to their conviction towards achieving goals that benefit the entirety of society. He came my way at a very dark period of my life, and I am truly thankful to you and the Swedenborg Foundation for sharing his philosophy and his example of faith with candor and genuine comfort.
      I know this may be a bit informal, but I would love to help in any way shape or form. I know the Foundation is not too far from (NYC)--and I'm a budding philosopher myself. Please let me know if we can begin a correspondence of any sort.
      Thank You & Happy Holidays,

    This presentation has explained some of the experiences that I have had during my lifetime. Jesus came to me in a vision during the night and taught me how to destroy evil by taking away the power of evil (fear) and casting it away while making sure not to retain any of the residue. Protecting myself from the power of evil through genuine laughter and lightheartedness. Jesus returned the following night and tested me to see if i had learned my lesson. An angry mob intent upon my destruction came to destroy me. Jesus was standing to my right side as I started laughing and reached my hand forward to the strongest member intent to draw out the evil and then cast it away. This dispelled the mob in fear. The fear that the mob intended to use as a weapon was their demise. The beings that devoid of fear were closer to the light; in a position where they still might be redeemed. Evil gains power from fear and laughter and lightheartedness dispel it. Those who operate from fear and promote fear it are coming from the side of evil: whereas laughter and joy are the armor of goodness.
    In another experience while I was returning through the darkness of the VOID after being in the presence of THE LIGHT i was
    captured by an intensely evil entity. The evil entity was forced to release me as directed by the creator. I learned that evil takes immense pleasure in the suffering of others, the opposite of compassion.
    In yet another experience I was physically walking down a busy street in my hometown one evening and encountered a man in his early 30"s who appeared to be homeless. As we passed I looked at his face and into his EYES OF LOVE! I recognized him as Jesus. The woman who was with me could not look upon him or speak; unusual for someone who talkehimd constantly. I had no money with me and apologized. I was disheartened by missing the opportunity to help. It took me 20 minutes to run home and another 10 to drive back. When I got back he was gone. I returned the next night looking for the man with a pocketful of money. A homeless man was walking towards me at the same place. It was a different man who again asked for some money but this time to buy some cigarettes of which i did not approve of. Normally i would have said sorry. I had changed and instead felt compassion. A person would not ask unless it was important to them. The thought that passed through my head was to give him more than he asked for. Thus the nature of God to extend without reservation even when we reject him
    I have long been confused by the person of Jesus who I consider to be a teacher, brother and a model of how we are to evolve spiritually. I feel the power of the Holy Spirit as an energy present within me since It entered me long ago and the creator as Love, Light and a force that would destroy me in my current physical form. Jesus is becoming less of a mystery dispelling some of the early religious teachings forced upon me in my youth. I have always known that the one true church is found within each of us, We are all called to have a loving relationship with the source of all LOVE and LIGHT. Thank you for bringing these lessons to the world in a form that The world is ready for!

    • @offTheLeftEye
      @offTheLeftEye  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      There's so much to unpack here, Barry! First let me say thank you for sharing these experiences with us. I feel moved by your encounter with that homeless man, having witnessed in him eyes of love and recognizing him as Jesus. You're right in that we are called to have a relationship with the source, being pure love and wisdom. And not to mention your clarification of the nature of evil-- to operate in and promote fear. Swedenborg discovered something similar, and perhaps more broad, in noticing that evil is driven by a love of self and love of the world. There are limitless ways that this can show up (fear, greed, reputation, shame, lust, etc). Yet centering ourselves back with the source destroys the power of these hellish things, and creates a reality for us that is filled with joy and meaning.

    • @barrytegeler986
      @barrytegeler986 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The first man simply appeared as a homeless man but I knew him as Jesus from previous spiritual encounters. He wanted to teach me a lesson while providing reassurance.

    Hello, thank you for the show. This is a letter I wrote to a friend after James (my very, very loved partner) passed away on July 1st, 2014. Near the end is how he described some of his experience, after dying, that I referred to during the show. I think the rest might also be of interest.
    The letter:
    I spoke of "hearing" James after he died. When I say that I speak to him people often understand that but not so often that he speaks back. I don't hear him so often as I did the first few months - although, when I quiet myself I sometimes still do. One or two weeks ago (I lose track of time so quickly) I felt his energy fluttering all about me - sort of zooming in circles about me and loving "kisses" on my face. I don't attempt to explain how I feel and hear these things. I don't dismiss them, either.
    Shortly after he died I asked him about where he is now. In two different ways I was answered. Once it was with a lot of words and realizing I would surely forget them, I immediately got my computer and wrote while I was hearing his voice in my thoughts. The second time, a short while later, he gave me a series of images. He said I wouldn't understand what I was seeing because it was inside energy streams and then my was mind flooded again but this time with images rather than words. I tried afterward to convert the images to words but I don't even have names for the colours I saw let alone anything else. And I realized I wouldn't be able to replicate the amazing designs I saw either - as he said, it quite defied human understanding, at least mine. I could only witness it and, as time goes by, the images fade from my mind although I still can recall a sense of them.
    In the first few months, I felt his energy take my body and swirl me in a dance. I spoke out loud to him and heard him speak back. He told me that while a part of his presence resides always within me - I felt him enter into me - that mostly he was going "to see what is mine to do here Bu." (Bu was his nickname for me). And as time goes by, indeed I trust he is bringing his very loving, lovely and wise self and energy to good use. I appreciate the visits I do have with him when they still come.
    These are the words James from July or so, 2014 - describing where he was at that time, according to my best ability to transcribe what he was saying:
    There are universes existing within universes - they are occupying the same space but exist as a different dimension. Some beings exist in more than one dimension by virtue of such aspects as their eye sight. For example, humans can see in one manner with the eye structure they have while many other eyes - for example - insects, birds, fish - have eyes that are structured differently, in some cases markedly different. This difference allows vision not visible to human eyes - this gives them sight in one dimension while they have physical presence in this one.
    Right now, beings are meditating strongly to shift the energy vibrations of earth to peace. There are beings in many dimensions who are embarking on this endeavor. Many of the strong people who have been recently leaving the earth - the strong souls, the peacemakers - they are working on this as well and are able to add their energy in such as way as was not possible when their energy was inhabiting form.
    The energy from beings of form is a completely necessary part to create peace and the time spent meditating in this way will link one to the energy of beings across many dimensions working in earnest that all people will look to each other with care and compassion and begin to express those within the realm of kindness.
    When we learn to live in this part of the universe and in this dimension in peace with each other and peace with the earth - then all other universes and all other dimensions benefit. And indeed, survive along with us.
    It is truly a strong and amazing thing to do - to imagine all beings laying aside that which is destructive to themselves and to others and to begin the process of caring for each other.

    Lift up those Holy hands, shake off those heavy bands and Praise the Lord. I believe that to glorify God in the heart means to lift up those holy hands, shake off those heavy bands, and Praise the Lord. I believe it means to look up to the Lord instead of down to the Earth. I use to sing this song in church many yrs ago and as I was listening to this song, this other song come to me and i believe lifting up the heart to the Lord is to Glorify Him, but then so does our life when we live daily for Him in whatever we do. Right now I believe this is what the Lord is saying to me and to all of you. Thanks for listening.

      Sharma Palmer. Didn't Jesus teach that the kingdom of heaven is WITHIN? I know historically the we tend to look up but I wonder if we shouldn't be focused more inwardly.

    • @offTheLeftEye
      @offTheLeftEye  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@geraldeast8518 Swedenborg learned that "up" is just a representation of going inward. So the gesture or thought of looking upward is just a way to symbolize looking more deeply within. And you're right, that is what it's all about! The kingdom of heaven, and the presence of God, is deep within us.

I connect with the Angelic realms and have with Christ during a meditation channeling session that I performed. i have a huge interest in always wanting to know more. I am a knowledge seeker.Perhaps because I have always been open to spirit which has been with me since childhood and into adulthood. Even though I did try to run from it at one point. Today I am very comfortable with the gifts I have been given and with my writing. I have done such a switch with everything in my life as I have discovered more over the years and I love it. Regarding the second coming of the Lord, as you mentioned, it is manifested as a new understanding or enlightenment from within.

    Praise God. Thank you OTLE/ SF, great episode - i have to watch several more times. i am a cerebral expressionist dreamer-artist, i tend to feel lonely, sad, dark. I need spiritual instructions and examples that are congruent with all of this, like a pattern-design of how to actually be all day, how to go about my artwork, manners, my communications, exercise routine, how i respond to negative situations, etc. In other words, i understand the wisdom, but i don't understand how to be synchronized with Godin my actions, in daily life. I hope and pray God will correct me of any wrongness and lead me with the holy spirit and what to do with my art, and how to have an enjoyable personality and not be insecure

      I'm very glad you enjoyed the episode. God understands how confusing earthly life is. We are not expected to know how to do everything "right," but only to make sincere efforts as best we can, and trust that God can work with those. There is much more spiritual development going on within us than we realize, if we just keep making efforts.

    Hi, What does it mean to glorify God in my heart?? Tonight or this morning I was listening to a group of men sing a song called "Glorify God in My Heart". And i began to think what does it mean..to Glorify God in our hearts? And i'm still asking "What does it mean to glorify God in our/my heart?" How does one Glorify God in their heart?? I began to praise God, lifting hands that hang down, Lift up those Holy hands and Praise God. How to Glorify God in the Heart? Is it an individual thing? and yet with other's also like in Church.

    • @offTheLeftEye
      @offTheLeftEye  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Shara -- Swedenborg defines true worship as living a life of loving kindness to others. So my first guess at an answer would be that we glorify God in our hearts by following his commandments (Ten Commandments, Two Great Commandments, Golden Rule...), turning away from our tendencies toward extreme selfishness and control, and learning to truly love others. We let the way we live our life be a reflection of our love for God and Divine truth. Does that resonate at all? I wonder how others might answer?

    • @offTheLeftEye
      @offTheLeftEye  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      More thoughts: It's not about a public display, but about quietly going about giving God the glory for all goodness, and trying to be a conduit of his love for the world.

    • @offTheLeftEye
      @offTheLeftEye  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      And one more: Here's a quote from Swedenborg's "Heaven and Hell" §404, about some spirits newly arrived in the afterlife:
      "Some spirits who thought themselves better informed than others claimed that in the world they had held to the belief that heavenly joy consisted solely in praising and glorifying God, and that this was an active life. They have been told, though, that praising and glorifying God is not an appropriate kind of active life, since God has no need of praise and glorification. Rather, God wants us to be useful to each other, to do the worthwhile things that are called works of charity. "
      So, loving people by being useful to them and serving them!

    While I was washing dishes yesterday the Lord said to me " It is appointed unto men once to die but after this the judgement" Heb 9:27. What does he mean by judgement?

    • @offTheLeftEye
      @offTheLeftEye  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Shara, I can't find anything in Swedenborg on this specific passage, but Swedenborg tells us God does not judge us. We alone determine whether we go to heaven or hell. I read this passage as saying that humans die once, and then go on to the next world, to determine their place for eternity (either heaven or hell). I think "judgement" really refers to the process of shedding our externals and becoming our true selves, which we do after death in the world of spirits (See "The World of Spirits" for more, th-cam.com/video/qoaPwhzDHWM/w-d-xo.html ).
      The next passage is Hebrews 9:28, which says, "So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation."
      Jesus died to become divinely human, and to reset the spiritual state of earth. His appearance to those who look for him means, as I understand it, that those who loved and followed him had the spiritual eyes opened and saw Jesus risen in heaven. I don't know why God said this to you while doing the dishes, or what it means for you spefically, but Swedenborg says that every part of the Bible is written secret meanings, and that all of it can apply to us individually. Perhaps our episode, "Why Did Jesus Suffer and Die?" th-cam.com/video/VqsbY9gRXxo/w-d-xo.html will shed some light on what that passage may mean! Check it out, Shara, and let me know how that lands with you.

    There is great strength in having three people work together because of the multiplier effect. Two people can pick up more than the total picked up separately, and the third person adds further strength, and the three working together can pick up more total per-person weight than two people working together. This is easily demonstrated in the building trades.
    Spiritual attention multiplies even more powerfully, from my experience. I have really felt this when singing with others in church. I feel a presence much stronger than usual, the multiplier effect transformed by 'lifting' our voices together. The Holy Spirit can more easily be discerned under these conditions.
    However, Swedenborg also says that the best of the angels live alone, although they are still associated with angelic communities. It take a unique sort of person, or couple, to live apart, and this ability seems to be highly regarded by heaven.

    • @offTheLeftEye
      @offTheLeftEye  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for sharing these great thoughts, Ken! Multiplying certainly does bring more power, ability, skill, etc. I've read that those highest angels have the biggest auras, and thus can be in touch with more communities than lower angels. So maybe "alone" isn't really alone to them!

    • @offTheLeftEye
      @offTheLeftEye  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey, +Keith Angel! It's a huge topic and a lot of people understand it differently. I can tell you what Swedenborg wrote about it. The understanding Swedenborg had about it is that the trinity is not one of persons. There is one divine human who is Jesus Christ, in whom is the divine trinity. The verse in Hebrews gets into the language of correspondences that the Bible is written in. The "right hand" is a symbol of power used throughout the Bible. So to speak of Jesus sitting down at the right hand of God is not a literal description, but denotes that in Jesus Christ is all the power of the divine ("All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth" Matthew 28:18). There's a lot more Swedenborg wrote about the topic. If you want to dig in deep I'd recommend his book True Christianity which is available as a free download here: www.swedenborg.com/product/true-christianity-1-nce/ (it's two volumes; this is the link to the first one). Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

      Hi, Elizabeth. This is Karin, a member of Curtis's team. I'm really glad to know that you have been out there in the audience all this time, and have been enjoying the shows! Thank you so much for watching.
      In response to your comment, I can only offer that maybe you'd have an easier time overlooking this if you picture Curtis having to head home after a full day of work and fit into a limited amount of time a meal with his wife and small daughter and helping out at home, before coming back to the office to film a live show in the evening. Also, having to talk almost non-stop live for an hour makes the throat dry, causing more swallowing and having to gulp some water during opportune moments. The physical body does what's it's going to do in such circumstances! Recently, we've begun to make more re-recorded shows which have opportunities to take breaks and do second takes. But almost all of these older shows were streamed live right onto TH-cam, with no opportunity to re-take anything.

    This matches what the Lord is teaching me , and it confirms that truth can flow to anyone that diligently seeks. The Lord is teaching me how our “attention” is how we determine what we love and desire and our thoughts contain electricity , which contains electrons , and magnetism , and it pulls or repels other spiritual entities, Or Gods Devine power!
    When we invite a spirit to teach us , we become a receptive charge and that’s why we must seek the Holy Spirit only. When we focus on annoyance of others, we pull a dark energy to us. And I’ve changed my life, by rejecting my old , learned negativity toward others and now , I try to love all people especially , those who are rude, and my life is becoming so blessed . Its fascinating to see the change
    I have been very judgmental and I didn’t know it . I thought my judgment was TRUTH
    but I lacked LOVE

      Just realise please, Jehovah is Satan, he is NOTHING like Jesus, in fact Jesus condemned the Israelites for worshipping their God the devil who was Satan/Yahweh/Jehovah in the Hebrew scriptures, the only writings they had access to at the time. John 8:44 "For you are the children of your father the devil, and you love to do the evil things he does. He was a murderer from the beginning. He has always hated the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, it is consistent with his character; for he is a liar and the father of lies."
      Jesus on the other hand was born from his Mother, his heavenly Mother of divine love. He came to earth as her physical representative, the true God of divine love.

    I think the infinite image we carry within us on earth is also like our mental schema of categories that reflect material experiences with stimuli such as objects, sounds, aromas, nature, animals, foods, and babies, etc. that contain divine energy in the form of atoms and molecules. However, Robert Monroe says in heaven, we are connected with everything on a subatomic level. It makes sense how this would establish universal peace and contentment in heaven, rather than longing and capturing the energy through childhood experiences, etc, but it is a start on our spiritual journey on earth. It reminds me of Monroe's beautiful description of heaven as a similar concept of our earthly actions that drive us subconsciously to do good things that seem worthwhile. Personally, I enjoy exploring my childhood memories through sensory experiences on a subatomic level, based on the chemicals in stimuli that cause biological and neurological changes within us that create these longings and memories. Monroe says in heaven we are connected to everything because atoms and electrons are already within us over there. My favourite part of Monroe's description of heaven is "...when you longed for the place where you belonged, whether city, town, country, nation or family - these are now fulfilled. You are Home. You are where you belong. Where you always should have been" (Monroe, 1972, p. 124). That quote provides me with immense joy and contentment as a salvation for all my memories that stay intact and I know I will relive again.

Also, a chapter called 'Mind and Super mind', invites scientists to explore the process of OBE's through scientific knowledge, particularly psychology. Simply reading his book again reminded me of the relaxation techniques he names in the glossary of his book, which initiated an OBE in me where I visited my local PC World computer store and Bingo hall arcade centre recently.

    Does Swedenborg give a clear explanation and distinction for "divine humanity" and "making his humanity divine"?

    • @offTheLeftEye
      @offTheLeftEye  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Divine Human that has always existed is God the Creator as what Swedenborg calls the "Essential Person," meaning, God is the original Human, a Divine Human, with thoughts and feelings, goals and efforts, and we are all made in the image and likeness of God. We can only be human because our Creator is human. When Swedenborg talks about the Lord (Jesus) "making his human divine," that means that by being born into a physical body on earth, God took on what we would call a "lower self" (Swedenborg calls it a "proprium" of "selfhood"). This layer that God took on as Jesus involved taking on a finite and fallible human heredity. It was the mission of Jesus while on earth to purify this fallible human nature that he had taken on by going through constant spiritual struggles. By doing this, he was also putting the whole spiritual realm back into order, and making it possible that our own individual lower selves could also be purified, if we are willing to make the effort. This process, of Jesus purifying the lower human nature that he took on, is what is meant by "making his human [nature] divine." He purified that lower human nature and made it completely in harmony with cosmic Divine love and goals. So, there are a few thoughts, and I hope that helps, but also this show called "How to Understand the Trinity" might also help.

It makes spiritual sense and human sense be not at odds but closely knit. We ALL have the spark of God/ Goodness. Most of us have no trouble being good to those we love. It's loving others we have trouble with. Some need the MESSENGER to understand this, some only the MESSAGE. Regardless the result should be the same. A better humanity.:o)

      You would have to believe the Bible to be inerrant, FIRST. Most Christians today are biblical idolaters. The BIBLE is their God. Yet does not Jesus tell us the Kingdom of God is within? Doctrine is what it is, it's not always seen in the same light or we wouldn't have 1000's of Christian denominations. Once saved always saved. Other's claim you can lose your salvation. Some believe Jesus came for MANY but not ALL. Some believe ALL will come to the knowledge and glory of God. Without the right doctrine you're hell bound yet there is constant division about doctrine. That's why the RCC never encourage anyone to read the BIBLE, they will tell you what it means.We have 3 major religions that believe in the same first 5 books of the Bible yet bear no resemblance to each other beyond that. One has Jesus being God, the other has Mohammed being called by God but not the son of God. The Jews would never believe a man to be GOD so their messiah is fully human but again called by God. Now I know you believe YOU have the right doctrine. So do these other people. Why do you believe what you do? Fear of Hell is usually the answer I get. I rarely hear anyone say it's bc they want a closer walk with Jesus. I rarely hear its to become more loving, forgiving and personally non judgmental. Hate the sin not the sinner.... but I see so little of the actuality of this statement.

      @offTheLeftEye  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi Asha! Divinity itself which flows from the Lord is goodness itself and truth itself, or divine love and divine wisdom. Only God is good. Humans are created to be vessels of love and wisdom flowing in from the Lord, but even when we regenerate to the point of being angels, we are still only vessels--we never *become* the goodness itself. So when the Lord's love and wisdom is received by angels, even though they have so thoroughly opened their spirits to it, it is still technically less pure than divinity itself.

    A bit of confusion: If God is the most powerful entity in the universe how could hell overtake heaven? And if God is the same yesterday today and tomorrow why would we need a change by bringing Christ? Wouldn't that mean that hell was always stronger than heaven?

    • @offTheLeftEye
      @offTheLeftEye  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, Shaunie. I realize that this is hard to wrap our heads around. We have to realize that there is a complex science to spiritual reality, and that things have to be done in certain ways and with great care in order that the whole system is preserved.
      First, consider what a complex project it is to maintain human freewill while preventing total annihilation from bad choices.
      Second, consider that all people ever created are connected in the same giant network. Swedenborg learned that all the inhabitants of the spiritual realm and the earthly realm are connected like cells in a body. So if some cells choose destructive behavior, that will eventually start to cause an infection that has an effect on the whole body. God had to work carefully to provide healing that still honored freewill, and yet protected the body from destruction by infection. Also, good people on earth are always unknowingly intertwined with hellish influence, and to simply wipe that away would rip peoples' spirits apart and harm them. So again, it all has to be done very carefully, and precise timing is crucial. The infection has to reach a certain point at which action will be the most effective and without doing harm to the healthy tissue by having the treatment be too sudden.
      As far as God changing: the essence of God never changes. But God is Light and Love itself, and when humanity created dark and cold states of existence through selfish and worldly choices, God had to put on a new covering in order to descend into that darkness to help us. The sun itself couldn't come down to earth and help (it would burn us up!). That "covering" was Jesus, a way God could help us without annihilating us with the full, unfiltered force of the Divine.
      So, there are some thoughts to consider, and I hope that helps a bit. Thank you for the good question!

    Doesn't it seem from near-death experiences that the inner beliefs of a person affect what they experience? If that IS the case, then wouldn't Swedenborg's existing Christian beliefs have influenced what he was seeing and how he interpreted his visions? I had a peak experience in 1995, in which I left my body and experienced being both myself and also being part of God. What surprised me was that everything in the material world is held together with God's love - I experienced love of roof tiles, bricks, and at the same time was surprised that it wasn't just living breathing things that were loved - everything in the material world is filled with God's love. That contact was very short, but I understood for the first time how we are all part of the same thing, and part of God, and that the purpose of our lives is to be uniquely ourselves with our own contribution to all that is, but to eventually rejoin our source at our own pace... and that everything we experience and everything we learn is to that end, so that God is eternally changing and growing. I'm disinclined to accept other people's stories of how things are/were, when they don't resonate as truth for me, although I find much of Swedenborg's thinking interesting I find the explanation for the threat unconvincing.

    • @AdriBraam
      @AdriBraam 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      A NDE is a 'waking up' in the spiritual atmosphere which we created for ourselves in this life, which does not make it Truth. But Swedenborg was invited and asked by the Lord to come into the whole spiritual world and write everything down what He told and showed him. That is why we see the massive and consistent and detailed information as Revelation.

    • @offTheLeftEye
      @offTheLeftEye  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for describing your beautiful experience, caliandris. I don't see it as opposed to what Swedenborg described. He learned that everything is indeed made out of the substance of God, and that God is the only real existence. And yet, as you can look around and witness, people can and do take that substance and twist it and do harm to one another and to nature. So, the threat is for that to become the prevalent use of the life force, instead of using the life force for love and usefulness and the benefit of all. To try to take and keep things only for self instead of being part of the flow of mutual love. Like cancer cells, people who only take and don't give infect the system. Jesus came to provide medicine to heal infections that were threatening the whole.

      I too have had an NDE, in fact more then one. I also experienced that oneness and that Love that was beyond description that was a love so pure it could not see or do evil of any kind. That happened In 1988 and I have been looking ever since what it means. I read about as many NDE's as I could and learned much from them. Yes our experiences are different but the same . I realized that everyone was only seeing a glimpse of what the afterlife is and that according to their own upbringing. For many years I was on the fence about Jesus until about 5 months ago when I ask God to show me the truth about Jesus. When I sincerely asked that, an energy I will call the holy spirit hit me full force in the stomach area (I was lying down). My whole body shook and actually levitate some off the bed. While that was happening I saw and learned much about the Christ Jesus, but once it stopped the knowledge I was given about Jesus faded, but the incident remained sharp in my mind. It was mind boggling. At first I wondered why I was showed all about Jesus but it was taken away just so fast. As days went on I began to realized something. Everything I saw came to light about Jesus. Things about Jesus were appearing all over the place. When I read the bible it became clearer, when I watched life it became clearer. What was happening was that I was being taught about Jesus and my mind could understand who Jesus was and that he was real. I hadn't forgotten, It was just put into a perspective I could understand from. I have been in search of the one true God since I was very young (I am 70 years old now). People get things wrong because we are in the world of deception. I have had experiences that most other people do not have, so I don't have a belief in God, instead I have a knowing. It wasn't just my NDE's that gave me a new view but other (for lack of a better word) paranormal things happen around me most all my life. I believe this to be because when I was an infant I died on my mom. My lungs filled with fluid, from pneumonia, and I stopped breathing and turned blue. In her panic she grabbed me by the feet and started to pound on my back, which resulted in the fluid come pouring out of my lungs and she was able to revive me. This is what my mom had told me when I was older. It incident made me different as a child growing up (I did not realize this until I got older that this incident effected my life). I was close to nature and could understand the animals and the plants. I was telepathic and could even see events before they happen , I could see energy fields. In my teen I became afraid of the being able to see events before they happened, as it seems it was always tragedy's I predicted and I did not want to know those things anymore. So I started to turn that part of me off because of the death of my most beloved brother. Any way what I am telling you is this. Yes Jesus is real and I am being shown more about Jesus all the time. I went from being on the fence about Jesus, to knowing he was real and why. But like Swedenborg , I know God has given to all mankind a way to understand him, because God is that Love and Wisdom Swedenborg talks about, and if you have that Love and Wisdom in your heart then you know Jesus because that is who Jesus was. He was of our Father God (Love and Wisdom). I realized I was blessed to have these experiences in my life that showed me truths but I always had to integrate what I was shown into this life, because the human mind is narrow compared to our true vision. I came to listen to Swedenborg long before I had that experience about Jesus, as I was still wondering about Jesus and how he fit in. Now I know, and I see and understand with a wider vision. If you but ask to be shown sincerity in your heart about Jesus, you will be shown, but you must have that sincerity of heart. Life is amazing and you can never learn enough because you are talking about infinity. I have come to realize that the more I know, the more I know I don't know. Even when we die we will still be learning. God Speed

    I've noticed a theme in the presentatuons that the Word, or holy writ, is to be interpreted symbolically. I have not read enough of Swedenborg to answer my own question, but does it follow that this precludes the stories literally happening? For example, most bible students would regard the dealings with the house of Israel as being at two levels, both literal and also symbolic of our relationship to Jehovah/God. Where did Swedenborg get this idea from? Was it his own best explanation, or was it from angels with whom he conversed.

      @@ConstancaClara Ah, yes, now I see what you are asking about. Yes, it seems very confusing in the literal sense! I am going to share a couple of quotes from a book called "Commentary on a Harmony of the Four Gospels", written in the 1970s by George de Charms, a Swedenborgian minister and scholar. He points out a practical, historical reason for the genealogy being presented this way, but then emphasizes that the main purpose of any Biblical genealogy is not for the sake of literal, historical figure. The genealogy actually contains information about a spiritual progression of states of mind throughout the story of humanity on earth, and how God worked to care for and save us.
      “There is every indication, from the literal sense of Matthew’s gospel, that he was addressing himself primarily to the Jews. Because of this is was most important to demonstrate that Jesus Christ was a direct descendant of the house of David. . . . To this end he began by citing the genealogy (or the ‘generation’) from Abraham to Joseph, who was regarded legally as the progenitor of Jesus Christ. . . . Yet, as Matthew testifies in verse 18 of the same chapter, Joseph was not the father of Jesus Christ. . . . Although therefore Joseph was not actually the father of Jesus, he was nevertheless to be so regarded according to Jewish law. This was necessarily the case because, legally, ancestry could be traced only through the male side.”
      “The purpose of genealogy was not primarily historical, but spiritual. . . . History is used throughout [the Bible] as a means of presenting spiritual truth, and to this supreme purpose all else has been subordinated. . . . The real purpose of Matthew’s genealogy is to represent the process of Divine incarnation whereby Jehovah God descended through the heavens to assume a material body in the womb of Mary. For this descent there had to be preparation through all the centuries. . . . This preparation had to be made simultaneously in both the natural and spiritual worlds. It had to be made on earth by means of successive prophecies, so designed that men might recognize the Savior when He came. But it also had to be made in the heavens by the spiritual sense of the Old Testament as understood by the angels. To them, historic events as well as open prophecies kept the promise of the Lord’s advent constantly before their minds. . . . During the entire history of the Jewish and Israelitish nation, the Lord was preparing in both worlds for His Advent in the flesh. By means of it the Lord was progressively descending through the heavens, taking upon Himself the Divine Presence with the angels. Yet in this descent He took nothing from the angels except the Divine Word as it was accommodated to their reception. As the Ancient Church declined, the Lord did not forsake mankind but continually accommodated His Divine truth to them at every step of their recession.”

One suggestion would be "The New Jerusalem and its Heavenly Teachings," downloadable (I believe) or buyable at swedenborg.com under the short title "New Jerusalem." It's not a huge book, and has a brief couple of pages of explanation on just about every topic of faith you could think of. After each short chapter, there are MANY references to the work Secrets of Heaven where the topic is discussed further, but you can just stick to the short chapters and skip all those references, just to get a feel for things.
      Another book some people like to start with is "Heaven and Hell," which dives deep into explanations of the afterlife and the reality of the spiritual world around us.
      There's a short video called "Who Was Swedenborg?" ( th-cam.com/video/HEa0e8AcS78/w-d-xo.html) which includes a brief description of his main titles, and you can see if one of them grabs you.
      In terms of videos, here's one we did called "Swedenborg 101: The Basic Nature of Everything" -- th-cam.com/video/3Q14EcEwQVQ/w-d-xo.html. It's about 90 minutes long and gives an overview of the theology, along with some tips for how to dive deeper into any given topic.

    Luke 5:31
    And Jesus answering said unto them, They that are whole need not a physician; but they that are sick.
    Galatians 3:22 But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe.
    23 But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed.
    24 Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.
    Mark 2:15 And it came to pass, that, as Jesus sat at meat in his house, many publicans and sinners sat also together with Jesus and his disciples: for there were many, and they followed him.
    16 And when the scribes and Pharisees saw him eat with publicans and sinners, they said unto his disciples, How is it that he eateth and drinketh with publicans and sinners?
    17 When Jesus heard it, he saith unto them, They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.
    Luke 19:5 And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up, and saw him, and said unto him, Zacchaeus, make haste, and come down; for to day I must abide at thy house.
    6 And he made haste, and came down, and received him joyfully.
    7 And when they saw it, they all murmured, saying, That he was gone to be guest with a man that is a sinner.
    8 And Zacchaeus stood, and said unto the Lord: Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have taken any thing from any man by false accusation, I restore him fourfold.
    9 And Jesus said unto him, This day is salvation come to this house, forsomuch as he also is a son of Abraham.
    10 For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.

The serpent bruised his foot (meaning minor) Jesus by his crucifixion but he still lives in heaven but Jesus will bruise his head (meaning severe) which is total distraction and annihilation evilness…

      Yes, it's hard! I can share more about what WE believe - but I think the most crucial part of belief is allowing what resonates in! One thing I love about Swedenborg's works (which is what this channel is based on), is that we are encouraged to think for ourselves, to listen to our intuition, and to latch on to the spiritual ideas that feel peaceful, that don't hold conflict for us.
      He taught that LOVE is what illuminates truth in scripture, so when we read or hear something and feel love or affection, that indicates it's truth for us! Does that make sense?
      This doesn't mean that the path to a loving, spiritual life is easy - it takes work to shed the negativity in our hearts and minds, and ascend to a higher plane! But I think REAL truth won't ever feel painful or hurtful.
      Here are a couple of clips and one episode that will better explain what I'm trying to here:

      Only Love Can Reveal Truth in Bible Scripture th-cam.com/video/PoTQ7pBX26Q/w-d-xo.html

      One more short one - What God/Jesus Is th-cam.com/video/5Y0q0Lw30aE/w-d-xo.html
      Hope that helps bring some clarity! Thanks for sharing your frustrations - I am sure you will find the right ideas that help you have your own, personal relationship with your Creator! God bless!

    Curtis,
    I'm getting to the last section, but before I start...I want to touch on what you said in the previous section....you stated that God or YHWY(Jehovah) never appeared to us before Yeshua incarnation, but only through the Angels? Okay? When Adam or Enoch walked with God....was God an Angel? Or has it always been Yeshua, Son of God, in human form from the beginning how God walked with mankind....food for thought....love your insight on this too, Curtis....thanks for all your time.

    Wow! i wrote about the divine-human and the nature of a Jehovah individuals in my book in the Tesseract chapter. It's a tough one to explain. Enlil, bodhisattvas, etc etc. People don't often mention how when Jesus died all manner of magic in this world came to an end, as how it was used before. The Jehovah's lost their power. Many of them were vengeful. They were malevolent god-kings as well as benevolent spiritual leaders.

      @@webslinger325 I'll let you know that Swedenborg learned a very different take on Jehovah -- that Jehovah is the same as the Father that Jesus came to show us, the Essence of God's Divine Love, but that Essence had been severely misunderstood in during the violent times recorded in the Old Testament, and the way the text is written reflects the violent tendencies of humanity rather than of God. If you are ever interested in learning more about that way of looking at it, see our episode "Why Is God So Angry in the Bible?" th-cam.com/video/yVb66mnefPc/w-d-xo.html However, we know everyone must understand the Bible in the way that makes the most sense to them, so we are wishing you all the best in your continued research and writing!

    Could you pls tell me WHAT IS SIN? and what makes it sin? and why is it sin and why is it wrong? I look all these things up and I can't come up a suitable answer that satisfies me.

    • @offTheLeftEye
      @offTheLeftEye  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Here's a definition that Swedenborg offers. Tell me what you think of it:
      "The evil that is sinful is simply evil against our neighbor; and evil against our neighbor is also evil against God, which is what sin is."

    does swedenborg says anything about mother mary

    • @offTheLeftEye
      @offTheLeftEye  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. He reported that he once saw Mary in the spiritual realm, in heaven:
      "To the above I will add a matter especially worthy of note. Mary, the mother of the Lord, once passed by; and she appeared over my head in white raiment. Pausing for a moment she said that she was the mother of the Lord, and that He was indeed born of her; but that, having become God, He put off all that was human which He had from her, and that she, therefore, now worships Him as her God; and that she does not desire that any one should acknowledge Him as her son, since all in Him is Divine."
