    Everything you have just explained is exactly what I was reflecting, Curtis, sometimes I feel you are channeling Swedenborg because you are able to explain so clearly and so fast with answers that only Swedenborg would know, either way you are blessed and I have to thank you for lending yourself to do the good Lord’s work. Explaining to us human beings what we need to know is not always easy . Just know this , that leading even just one human being to our Lord is worth all your hard work and you will surely be blessed for it.

    I have been a Christian for many years but found church to be so fake and attending church only made me feel like I was being forced into spiritual bondage, so I stopped attending but never stopped believing. I had been fighting my spiritual battles all on my own, and lossing until I found this show. Thank you! I am reading Swedenborg's books too. I'm excited about the Word again with my new Swedenborg glasses. Swedenborg is my minister and guide to better understanding of the Word and heaven within. I pray that your program's subscriber numbers take off because Swedenborg has a lot of truth to share and that's good news.

    So pleased and grateful to have found this. So much for me to relate to.
    Starts out with gol mining which I've had experience with being married to a gold miner.
    Then I'm a recovering person and appreciated those that spoke on the process of how alcohol loves to kill us that fall victim to it. Also, am a retired nurse and recognize what kidneys do. Or "try" to do.
    This video is helpful in the most loving way. It's truly a gift of support, encouragement.

    Devastation is definitely the perfect word...it was total devastation that suddenly put me on a fast-track spiritual journey...and it was even the exact word I used, that I was "devastated" when my one true beloved died. 14:35 the idea that we are unworthy and that love of self is a problem would seem to cause all kinds of problems with the teaching of “Love your neighbor as your self”. (I understand that Swedenborg defines self love differently, but still….) For at some level the teaching is sort of one of equanimity: self=other; other=self. So if we are unworthy and do not like ourselves, how do we see our neighbor?Don’t know if I expressed my thought very well there. Anyhow, much appreciation to you all 🙏

    • @offTheLeftEye
      @offTheLeftEye  ปีที่แล้ว

      The Golden Rule includes loving ourselves, Shefo. I see no problem with valuing our own contribution. God loves us, and would not want us to harbor self hatred. Did the video suggest otherwise to you ? When Swedenborg talks about the dangers of self love it is to the exclusion, or expense of loving others. We would willingly hurt someone else in order to help ourselves. Genuine love helps us as well as others. Something about a rising tide raises all ships.

    • @shefo3916
      @shefo3916 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@offTheLeftEye Thank you for the reply. In answer to your question of: “Did the video suggest that God wants us to harbor self hatred?” Nope, in no way did I get that. The reply was prompted by Swedenborg’s words (at the time marker I marked) stating that we have to see ourselves as “unworthy”.
      I’ve come to see that many people who behave selfishly are coming from a base of already feeling unworthy. I suspect that it’s their feelings of unworthiness that allow them to treat others as unworthy. However if they were to feel worthy they would recognize the worth of others.
      It’s still the Golden Rule, just looked at from the reverse angle(?)

    • @offTheLeftEye
      @offTheLeftEye  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you Shefo for clarifying that. I hear you better now. I agree that bravado can be a thin veneer for low self image. God wants us to feel free, and lovable, and worthy of His love.

    Hello! So you had brought up addiction.. with that being said I am wondering what you think about my situation on a Swedenborg perspective! As a recovering addict myself (not alcohol but other substances) I notice myself when I try drinking Alcohol (like once a year) feeling horrible about myself. I begin to want my drugs of choice, I feel helpless, and feel the desire to do things I absolutely would not be interested in doing otherwise. On a spiritual level, do you feel like when I choose to drink I am opening myself up to lower vibrational beings that are try to influence me negatively? Or like you have said many times before Hell pulling at me? After reading and listening to Swedenborg's experiences this is my feeling on it and I'm wondering what you think, as well!

    • @offTheLeftEye
      @offTheLeftEye  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Andrianna, I'm so sorry to hear you have struggled with addiction, and send you strength and love as you face this challenge! Your question is a good one. The short answer, in Swedenborg's worldview, is that yes, hellish spirits are absolutely influencing your choices here (as they do to us all) and want badly for you to give in. Swedenborg even talks about how evil spirits literally can suck energy from people and bully and manipulate them in order to do so - and addiction, I believe, is one way they can accomplish this.
      This is why in AA you surrender to a higher power - another way to look at that is simply asking God for help, so you rise up with a protector against what are really spiritual attacks. It sounds to me that when you drink, these spirits find a vulnerability and exploit it, telling you that you're horrible and you might as well do a, b, and c... they are excellent at that. For some tips on how to fight back, check out the following, and let me know if anything resonates!

      @@offTheLeftEye thank you so much for your insight and I really appreciate your quick responses, it really keeps me even more intrigued and excited for what's to come next! One thing I find interesting is ... Well... I have a history of spiritual practices while in active addiction.. more so with automatic writing/channeling and writing with spirits... Long story short I started calling certain spirits BULLY spirits because of the way I began to learn how they would try manipulating me (in an obvious way)! My addiction has really tore me up in the past but it has also opened my eyes in so many ways and was guided to your channel and Swedenborg and I am truly thankful and this has already made me a stronger person and stronger in my recovery!!! I look forward to listening to the videos you shared and I will most definitely let you know how I feel about it!

    HAHA at 16:14! You're awesome, Curtis!! :) Yeeeea, I know, I know. To YOU, you're... "just you". (Ain't we all! [yes, I know.. sucky grammar! :P ]). But to all the "other you's", that we are to YOU (huh??), you're pretty darned cool! :) So I say THANK YOU for your version of "you'ness", from my "me'ness" perspective! :) Before I was (very recently) introduced to Swedenborg, I've already (for several reasons from my own life's journey) considered MANY concepts from "Swedenborism" that I'm now hearing... mostly from yourself and watching these videos (I've yet to start reading Heaven and Hell, which I purchased recently. UGH, yet more reading reading reading to splodge through!! Yeees, I know.. WRONG attitude! :P Once I get into it, I know me... I'll love it!). And hearing all these things that I've already found myself "pondering" actually being spoken by OTHER PEOPLE... I'm now thinking... wooohh!.. maybe there's really something TO all that "pondering" I've done in life, about all those "weird concepts" that makes sense to ME, but that I KNOW others would be scratching their heads at, were they to see inside this goofy head of mine!
    If Swedenborg's "experience/teachings" really are true (again, that's the primary rub for me... knowing how to know that!), then it must be just more evidence of the reality of "it all", and the influence of the (oh so much "higher" than THIS mere physical, created "sub-reality"!) reality of the spirit realm is playing out.. in even lil'o me! Wow! (Gosh, I HOPE that's true! It would explain, in a totally cohesive, sense-making, and even logical way, WHY I've "felt" all the stuff I think and feel!) So here I am, nobody me that I am to everyone other than myself, realizing Curtis PROBably will never even see my words here (blah to that! :P connection in life is where life truly IS.. in this current "here and now"). But.. I guess it helps to just blab sometimes.. even if it's just me, hearing my own blabbing! ... Hi me, how are you? Oh, I'm good thanks, just talking to you.. err... me... errr :P ---- Blessings, everyone! :)

    Great vid, I came across your channel when I saw an article not too long ago about schizophrenia & saw your vid about it; I've been checking out your vids ever since. One thing I found really cool was the info about the kidneys, I'm a student in Chinese medicine and in that medicine the kidneys also have to do with the will. They also say certain organs have "spirits" and the spirit of the kidneys is called "Zhi" which is the will or will power. There is also a close relationship between the heart and kidneys as they work together as a pair. The organs in the body are viewed as a government and have functions as a "community" if you will, so I completely get the shape of heaven/correspondence idea. Is there a book that explains the organs & spirits and correspondences more or is it spread throughout? I would like to examine this further as it may provide better insight in my patients.

      Hey +toneFT, so glad you found us! Wow, I hadn't known that about Chinese medicine, but it's very cool! Unfortunately, there isn't really a place where Swedenborg lays out the correspondences of all the organs and their spirits--it's really more spread throughout. One thought is that there is a web site that has an engine to search Swedenborg's writings. You could just enter the names of specific organs in there and see what comes up. Just make sure to click the circle by "Swedenborg's works." Here's the link: newchristianbiblestudy.org/quick-search

    thank you lots of great information. I wanted to know if Swedenborg spoke more about the kidneys that perhaps it is healers that do this sort of thing here? that their aura will just pull in lower harmful energies from those around them to transmute them whether it be emotional, physical etc. Or that healers have these spirits, angels with them that do this type of work more than it being one that likes to see what is wrong in others? Or is this sort of thing spoken of elsewhere by Swedenborg?

It'd be extremely beneficial for those to see small clips like the True Christianity 401 clip about Spiritually minded people versus earthly minded people and the others I've seen on your videos.... By the way, I want to thank you again for these videos! I love them, believe them, am so happy that Curtis Childs is doing what he's doing to spread the word of God through Swedenborg's genius and that there's truly an afterlife made factual by Swedenborg and the thousands of NDE's experienced that all relate and defy earthly ethics. he says "possibly more secrets in the doctrine of reflection them any other"
    which book has more about this? (you didn't mention paragraph number of this quote)
    maybe even more specifically when is the reflection from hell or heaven?
    and if from heaven, then how to change.
    seems I'm powerless to change such as insane cravings for sugar most of the day long, getting very distracting from everything in life and therefore distressing. spending all day long just fighting them and still loosing.
    getting stronger the more I feel resolved to fight them. (same with laziness about organising house)

      Here is a good video about addictions and cravings, th-cam.com/users/livelMxdZiguxlI
      Changing habits is pretty hard for sure, Always Learning.
      As for the passage about reflection it comes from Spiritual Experiences 733.
      "I was just conversing with spirits and angels about reflection, to which I do not know whether people have given enough attention; and it was said that if they give it some thought, they will discover more secrets in the doctrine of reflection than in any other.
      What reflection achieves can be quite clear to everyone from the fact that we perceive no sensation of the body or its parts, and are unaware of having a sensation, unless we reflect upon that part of our body. Then we perceive heat, cold, pressure - we even feel what that part is suffering. If we reflect on our breathing, then we feel and know that we are breathing, and in this way a voluntary factor joins in; besides innumerable other instances."
      By reflection he means not something bouncing back but an internal pondering, a deep dive into our own motivations. Does that help?

      @@offTheLeftEye the cravings, or revulsion for chores, seem to increase with increase of my resolve to fight them. alcohol or cigarettes can be stayed away from but not food. if I clean my house of the food I don't want to eat then it is everywhere we go (laughing at our resolve). also I am a bit frantic trying to comprehend and assimilate all of Swedenborg in a week or is it just a good excuse not to do chores?
      ***it is probably just me***, but it seems most your OffTheLeftEye solutions don't require the knowledge of the spirits influencing our thinking and feelings or even that much knowledge of the spirit world existence, but pulling oneself up by material/psychological secular bootstraps, the secular world's solutions. while witches do their witchcraft and IT WORKS. surely God has better supernatural help for those who are not about to start appealing to less kind spirits.
      prayers seem to make no difference for me in the food addiction. And prayer has worked miracles for me in many other things. Definitely it was THE key for making a dent in anxiety. Am I wrong?
      Wish a Swedenborgian would study prayer and correlate it with Swedenborg's findings. Like way more then what you got on the channel now. God comes closer to our perception of him via the bible, but is it also not via prayer? This aspect of prayer. Also, sometimes things happen beyond just thought-wise that if you pay attention are definitely supernatural because of prayer or during prayer.

    Do we have to use modern medicine to deal with our depression? Is there not another way? For me they are too strong.

    • @offTheLeftEye
      @offTheLeftEye  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm sorry sorry that you struggle with depression. That is a burden that so many struggle with, and it certainly can be confusing trying to find the best ways to treat depression. Medicines do seem to help in many cases, but not all. We believe that a holistic approach can be greatly helped by also considering spiritual components-spirits that actually send destructive messages into our minds that cause upset and depression. Curtis actually started on the path that led to this channel because concepts from Swedenborg's books helped him get out of depression. You can see an early speech he gave about that at these two links:
      "Head Bullies, part 1" th-cam.com/video/mi3qoyDAw_o/w-d-xo.html
      "Head Bullies, part 2" th-cam.com/video/Lb91THEIpRA/w-d-xo.html
      And here is a recent article on the Swedenborg Foundation website written by someone who also used concepts from Swedenborg's books to come up out of depression:

      I hope that these can offer you some helpful ideas!

    As always, your videos are extremely helpful and thought provoking. This one got me thinking about the mechanism or process aspects as to why pride is so harmful, and I want to share my new understanding of this with you. Being prideful is the same as thinking that you know it all or that you have all the power and therefore believe that you have no need for input from anyone else. By its very nature then, pride blocks connection from anyone or anything outside the self. I believe it this disconnection that makes pride so harmful. Would Swedenborg agree with that assessment, do you think?

    • @offTheLeftEye
      @offTheLeftEye  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, Swedenborg would completely agree! He even saw, in the spiritual world, that people who were immersed in feelings of pride and superiority had auras that drove other people away. So, that kind of aura is the opposite of an aura that can connect with others.

      Bless you Always Learning. Even your name speaks of your curiosity. I love that! Yes hell wants to interfere, distract, and derail our efforts to learn how to live well. Would taking notes while you listen help? Perhaps a prayer before you begin? Even bringing one thing from the videos or books into action will make it more your own. One practical tip is to ask myself "Is this thought I am having one that helps my relationship or harms it?" That way I can sort them, and choose differently. My husband is sometimes late and that made me angry for years. Then I thought, which is worse, to be late or to be angry at someone for being late? I decided to let go of those critical thoughts, and simply wait for him. I am much more peaceful. Take care.

    +offTheLeftEye An afterthought I had on the show is on one hand Swedenborg talks about spirits connected to organs within our body yet during the Q&A it was said Swedenborg did not believe in possession. I found these statements to be not congruent.

    • @offTheLeftEye
      @offTheLeftEye  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +French Fry I understand the difference to be, "possession" indicates that a person's mind is taken over in a way that they are unable to make their own decisions, or use their own rationality and free choice. In contrast, spirits can constantly be affecting our minds and bodies, but as long as we have spiritual freedom and rationality, we're able to reflect on what's happening and make decisions about how to break free of the influence of evil spirits or work in harmony with the influence of good spirits and angels.

    • @frenchfry5675
      @frenchfry5675 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +offTheLeftEye Seems to be a very fine but defined line certainly. I could be wrong but there is also a spectrum in good spirits, referring to what "level" that may be at. So I wonder about the influences not just of the evil but the good as well. In other words their views might be imperfect as well, though still erring to the good side.

Is no good at all. Its very bad . Stay close to Jesus Christ man be protected by his blood. If ur not careful you are opening doors for demons to come in. Be protected by Jesus Christ. Im not being religious because every day is a spiritual warefare I been dealing with. I tell man test the spirits. Anything that is outside of God kingdom their no good there are evil spirits which are called demons. I do believe angels and demons are real. But Jesus Christ is the only way the truth and the life. Test the spirit. By the word of God. Seek Jesus Christ ask him to reveal himself to you. He is real and alive. Remember demons are fallen angels they disguised themselves as an angel of light they deceive people because they come to steal kill and destroy. Thats all man. It seems more that he pushes it as an emergent effect of following the spiritual path--meaning following processes like the one described in this video may eventually lead to it, but the spiritual experiences themselves aren't as important as our personal growth.

      Yes, he did have a lot of help from God. But all that is necessary to remember is to resist things that are harmful, and do things that are kind and useful.

    We only veiw the nothing as darkness without contrast because we were created innocent just a small spark/seed within physical light within a moving contrast moving in light with the moving contrast having windows for the light to see out. And living in weaknesses we are spirit scared to leave our hiding place bodies because of our fear of being without contrast and our body is our shelter the sun is the door between light and dark we gain special priveledges by living in weakness our soul is our ability to maintain individual personalities as individuals in an organized way with free will. I ask you if you have a thousand ideas but have no way to put them in categorization or have no cabinet to file them in what then becomes of them ? randomness without purpose, understanding, choice, motivation the list is endless random floating. I am respectfull to those with respect for me and for individuality and respect of individual knowingly chosen boundaries

    It is increasingly clear that this man was straight up attacked by demons. The devil is our accuser, not Christ. Purification is by confessing our sins to Christ, it is not something we can do ourselves - or that some intermediate spirits do for us: He purchased purification for us through His blood atonement. This poor man was deluded by his own demons.

    • @offTheLeftEye
      @offTheLeftEye  ปีที่แล้ว

      The "confessing" IS something we do ourselves, Alice (Swedenborg would call it practicing self-examination and then acknowledging what we find to God), and then yes, the Lord can purify that part of us -- if we WANT it to be purified. I'm not sure what delusion you're referring to. We do believe that "demons" influence all of us, and if we can recognize those influences we can turn away from them and turn towards God. We may see things differently, but we wish you every blessing on your spiritual path.

    Swedenborg is not a spiritualist.. All that he experienced is from God and Willed By God.

      Yes, he called himself a "servant of the Lord", and was called by the Lord to this mission of learning and writing down what he learned.

      Can you tell me what feels like a contradiction, Niki? Doesn't the Bible say to "Choose Life"? To live according to the Commandments?

    you'll have visions of mowing lawns? What are you teaching people? If people need to know the Lord they can read the Bible.

    • @offTheLeftEye
      @offTheLeftEye  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Don't worry. Swedenborg studied the Bible extensively, and called himself "a servant of the Lord," beginning he work on these books after a couple of powerful visions of Christ. He was called to be an instrument of the "many things" that Jesus alludes to in John 16:12: “I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now." We leave everyone to decide for themselves whether to accept the concepts or not, and whether our channel resonates with them or not, but we hope that everyone will take their time and consider. After all, the concepts that Jesus taught while on earth were very strange and different to the people he was talking to then.

    • @offTheLeftEye
      @offTheLeftEye  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      And think about how crazy some of the visions are that are described in the Bible. Things in the spiritual realm can appear in very crazy ways, so, is cutting grass really any crazier than the visions in the Prophets and Revelation?

    • @guitarsz
      @guitarsz 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      While it's true that there were incidents in the Bible that were wild and fantastical enough to make visions of lawn mowing not so unusual, that's not really my point. My point is that you're offering up all this so called "knowledge" about all kinds of things like angels, auras, reincarnation, etc. I mean when people call in and ask a question like "is it possible to still progress to a higher level once you're in heaven?" and you answer it like you're an authority or like Swedenborg is the authority on all these matters, it's just a little disconcerting. Especially when you claim that he was a "Servant of the Lord" and that he is a Christian. IF that was the case, then it seems fitting that you would compliment EVERY topic with supporting scripture. Maybe Swedenborg could have or should have been a contributor in the Bible, but he wasn't, not like Mathew, Mark, Luke or John. Now this doesn't mean that Swendenborg is bogus, I'm not saying that, but the way you talk about it is as if he's some authority on all these topics. I don't buy that. CS Lewis was a man of the Lord and he wrote poetically about the Lord, but he's not an apostle, and he doesn't claim to know everything about a myriad of spiritual aspects that there is no Biblical references to support. That's all I'm saying. A disclaimer would be nice, or at least some acknowledgement to how the Bible supports or doesn't support your claims and answers to callers if you're claiming to be a Christian channel.

    • @offTheLeftEye
      @offTheLeftEye  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      brooklyn, we're not claiming to be a Christian channel. You'll never find us saying that, or saying that anyone has to believe this information. This channel is sponsored by a non-profit book publisher called the Swedenborg Foundation. Our aim is to share the extensive information Swedenborg wrote down, and then to let people decide for themselves whether it resonates with them or not. We always hope that people will watch if it is helpful to their lives, but that they will not watch if it is not helpful. People who send us questions are those who are finding that the information resonates with them and is helpful to them. Those people come regularly to our live chats and send the questions. People who don't like the information go and find other channels and videos that make more sense to them. Fortunately, there are many other channels out there to choose from.

      Fair enough. I thought it was a Christian channel. And I appreciate you taking the time to reply. I did like the first video I listened to. That one did resonate. I get a little protective when I hear "Servant of the Lord" or anything Christian related that doesn't seem to coincide with the Bible so forgive me if I was brash. I realize it is only your intention to educate, empower or supprt people and that is definitely a good thing. Thanks again for taking the time to be so kind with your responses.
