    Perhaps I should have clarified. View numbers wise, Top 10 Monster videos seem to do worse than class/magic item videos. That being said, it seems those of you who do watch are more passionate and interested from what you leave in the comments. I'm hopeful that doing a video on a stellar 3rd party monster product, we'll be able to change the view statistics.
    There's still time to back Tome of Beasts 2 on Kickstarter, head here to check it out! www.kickstarter.com/projects/deepmagic/tome-of-beasts-2-for-5th-edition-400-new-monsters

      Most probably is because the ratio of DMs to players. Way less DMs than players that will care more about class/items for their PCs than monsters that they should not know the stats about because meta/immersion reasons. And then DMing, in general, because of the planning requires more passion and interest.

      This actually makes a lot of sense!

      @KieranRobins 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@SRautaro yeah, I think this is why. Population of players vs. DMs in the community means videos with subjects players care about do better. Add to that the number of people who aren't even players in a campaign, just theory crafting character ideas.

    Both of KP’s bestiaries are SO GOOD. I backed the ToB2 the instant I saw it
    Also, KP’s monsters are more dangerous because they seem to actually follow the monster creation by CR table in the DMG.

    As mimics live longer they do grow bigger and eventually become a house hunter. Which essentially is a mimic who can now appear as an outhouse, tavern or even a castle.
    And in regards to the map mimic, I like the idea that they become maps in order to lead people to their progenitor mimic and its siblings who have already made it back "home".

    I love the Tome of Beasts and Creature Codex. I find myself turning to them for almost all of my campaign creatures and NPCs.

    Oh shit! I actually used Swolbolds in a dungeon against players during a one-shot, so it's cool to know that you made them. Thanks!
    They were a lot of fun, thought the party died to the Hellfire engine they were riding Mad Max style.
    I also used the Hoard Golem resting in a treasure vault to a red dragon. The Hoard Golem was also accompanied by a few Cobbleswarms [Tome of beasts pg68] flavored as living bars of gold.

    Looking at the picture of the Timingila in the new book that’s coming out, I have to wonder why people in Realmspace feel so comfortable sailing when they know these leviathan-esque creatures that can one-shot their whole crews loom just beneath the waters.

"Yah, you're walking through a field or on a road and suddenly next to where you're walking a grass creature erupts out of the ground!"

    This is a good idea for a series. 3d party monster books. Look up Frog God Games' Tome of Horrors, 2CGaming's Bestiary, and Nord Games' Ultimate Bestiary: Revenge of the Horde. I'm sure there are others. EDIT: Forgot about the Creature Codex.

    Would love if you did a Top 10 of the Tome of Horrors. If you like the hoard drake or hoard golem, you might love the hoard ooze. It's one of my favourites, and I've use it against my party before.
    Hoping the otterkin is also a race because that'd be fun.
    You should check my response on the ogrepede post. Rogue Genius Games did a variant flesh golem horror recreation that I immediately thought of when I saw the art for Kobold's picture. Definitely some similarities. I shared a picture on there from the RGG book.
    For the Kickstarter, I'm absolutely hoping KP does a darkness elemental. I haven't seen those since AD&D 2nd.
    I have the KP Tome of Beasts book as well, and when I saw the Sharkjaw skeleton, I honestly thought it was a golem. It's not like we don't have things like that in other editions (ie. the tooth golem).
    A mimic I miss seeing, and hope to see come back, are the house hunters (AD&D 2nd). Mimics that can look like a house or church, and give off light, sounds of people murmuring, or emulate the sounds of church bells.

    I have both the previous KP monster manuals and was going to back TOB2 but unfortunately shipping for the UK (and presumably the rest of europe) costs the same as the book itself. It's a shame but I'm happy to wait.

    Subconsciously, and I guess now consciously, I always thought that it *made since* (somehow?) for Skeletons to cast spells/have magic, versus a basic Zombie being incapable.
    Anyone know where I got this concept from? A movie? A game? I dunno.

    • @BramLastname
      @BramLastname 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Skeletons are held together by magic,
      While Zombies are usually portrayed as a disease rather than a magical creature.

    if you were to add class levels onto the red hag, would you add a CR for every level of a class? (i.e. a 3rd level wizard hag would be CR 10)

    • @UmekCrafter
      @UmekCrafter 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      No because monster's CR is supposed to match level of entire party of adventurers.

    • @deffdefying4803
      @deffdefying4803 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You’d have to recalculate the CR for every class feature you give it, because some things barely affect CR, while others bump it up massively. Ergo CR is not 1:1 with class levels.
