Put a cup of baking soda down the drain followed by white vinegar. Don't look down the drain as you do this because when the soda and vinegar blend it causes them to fizz up very fast. It's not poisonous but the junk in the drain may get in your eyes. After that, you should run hot water down the drain for two minutes to clear any remaining gunk. You may need to repeat a second time if the first time doesn't quite do the job. As a preventative running hot tap water down the drain, a couple of times a week will help keep it clean. This is much safer for the plumbing than using other chemicals. Sometimes you may need a professional to help out though. My father was a plumber, that's how I know this trick.

But when my sister and I would cook with meat we would dump the grease down the sink without knowing we weren't supposed to do that so we suddenly had a problem but thank god for our brother's friend that fixed it. So since then we haven't dumped grease down there since. We know better. But the rest that is in this video that's good to know.😉

My 2 year old and I were working on a craft project at the same time lunch dishes were being put in the dishwasher and my two year old put the glue dish we were using in the dishwasher and of course I didn't catch it and it went through the entire cycle if there is anything I can use to dissolve the glue from the drain pump any suggestions I sure don't want to replace a new dishwasher I just got this 18 month ago

That's well and good but if you have a garbage disposal coffee grounds and eggshells art really so much a problem because you're always running water through it while you're cleaning out the drain you don't just dump them in there and hope for the best in some cases coffee grounds eggshells are other things like that could also help sharpen the blades on some garbage disposals but you aren't using a garbage disposal just a drain so know that probably wouldn't be a good idea with just a drain

I know for certain not any kind of oils even with a disposal and hot water. We had a major clog in the outgoing line to our septic outside the house and when we took out the problem area of the pipe (at least 4"in diameter). Grease had accumulated just outside the home in our pipes and we augered it first. It did little to no good. When we finally cut the pipe to get a better look, it was nearly completely clogged with a wall of congealed grease that water could barely pass through. Yuck! I know egg shells are another thing you cannot put down the drain even with a disposal. I'm sure most the other stuff, if not all, shouldn't be put down the drain, even with a disposal. Our house kept backing up when anyone used too much water at once (gross). We fix most of our own plumbing ourselves, save for the occasion when we needed backhoe help when a tree root grew into and blocked our outgoing lines.
Well, I used a bottle to make cold brew coffee, I strained the coffee grounds with a plastic filter which goes with my coffee maker, it's Reusable and I've washed out the coffee grounds into my drain for 5 years now, now that I've seen this video I'll just throw them out by the bushes from now on, but what should I put down the drain so the coffee grounds won't get stuck?
I remember one of my cousins once tried to flush a corn cob down one of our toilets. He was about 3 at the time. I thought we were never going get that toilet unclogged after that.

I almost clogged the drain with syrup, but thankfully my dad stopped me before I did.
Actually syrup is basically just sugar, so it dissolves fine in water. Test it out by mixing some syrup into a glass of warm water!

In the 1970s when l was growing up, garbage disposals were tough. Never got clogged. Nowadays they are way too sensitive...my disposal is a dud...
To get rid of liquid cooking oil I pour it in a paper cup and then freeze it solid, then I dump it in the trash on collection day.
