    #3 Food Poisoning, I had that one to many times in my life as I know from my experience with this first hand is to make myself throwing up after I drink some water as it help to remove what is left in you're stomach so from what I can tell it helps to shorten the duration of the nasty feelings, also the runs are always will happen from my experience with this, an so saying throwing up is a bad things, well the ways it get so bad with the weakness, cold spells, an so much more that throwing up seems to help reduce the length in my opinion, an drinking a lot of water is good to help recover from this as well too. Great video an I find theses things interesting indeed...

      jefferysmith1982 that is really bad for you. It dehydrates you and can make you go hungry you need nutrients and energy when sick and throwing all that food up wastes it.

    I've always been taught to apply cold cloths or run my hands under cold water to help bring the body temp come back to a normal level when coming out of the cold/winter.
    I've been taught that putting anything warm or hot on some one who is cold or frost bitten will cause more harm.
    And I know the cold water helps since I've been doing this for years and years. I once made the mistake of using warm water on my extremely cold hands and it hurt really bad and I quickly switched the faucet to cold water and had instant relief.

    I've seen all this many times before but always enjoy seeing it again. One thing I notice since I last did a First Aid course is the ratio of CPR. At first I was told five compressions to one breath. this then changed to 15 compressions to 2 breaths. Now I see it as 30 compressions to 2 breaths.

    • @rejeannadeau4401
      @rejeannadeau4401 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      And now the ratio for children has been adapted too... improvements in my view!

  • @MNNski

    Don't wash the bite wound in case of a snake bite. That's one thing you got wrong. The venom around the wound can be used to help identify the snake.

    • @babybookworm003
      @babybookworm003 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You should also mark above the bite so professionals can track swelling

    • @MNNski
      @MNNski 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's a good one. If it is a non-poisonous snake there will be swelling but not much. The poisonous ones will create more swelling. By marking it in 15 minute intervals you can show the progress of the bite.

    • @christiantheologyunited3707
      @christiantheologyunited3707 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ikemi Zyn yes you do wash it. The excess venom will infect the bite. Just take note of what the snake looks like.

      "elevate the wound above the heart?" Is it suppose to decrease the blood flow hence slowing the poison going towards the heart? In the even if bleeding out, yes. But if the blood (with the poison) is moving back towards the heart, wouldn't it speed it's route there?

  • @rameylewis7730
    @rameylewis7730 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    I was always taught to lower the area of the body bitten by a venomous snake below the level of the heart to decrease circulation and slow the flow of venom to the heart. This would apply if the bite is from a deadly snake in which case a constriction band might also be used to slow the flow of the venom. Raising the bitten limb above the heart as you suggested will allow the venom to reach the heart more quickly which may not be a good thing.

    • @LifeSaverCPRFirstAid
      @LifeSaverCPRFirstAid ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Correct; when dealing with a snake bite, lower the area below the heart.

    On the torniquet explaination. The torniquet should be applied about 5cm above the wound because blood vessels tend to recede a bit when pressure is applied. So if the torniquet is too close to the wound maybe the vein can recede so much that the bleeding could go on internally

    if you do cpr on a infat with a ratio of 30:2 wont have any effect, the ration for an infant before 6 mounths is 3:1 and after 6 mounths is 15:2, kids and infants needs more O2, so you have to start with 5 breaths.

    with some snake bites
    heating the bitten area can denature the poison and make it less effective and thus extend the length of time you can survive without medical attention
    and thats very important if you are in the australian outback waiting for the royal flying doctor service (upward of an hour depending on weather conditions and if there is a suitable landing spot nearby)

    Oil burns, or grill burns: use cold Mustard. I've been burnt in restaurant work over 200 times. It will sting like the sickens but it works.
    I didn't believe it myself but when I used it I never left home for work without it. The cold kills the cooking of the skin and the vinegar will help by killing germs.
    For lacerations it's easy if it's minor, use cold water. I've been cut just as many times washing dishes. After the bleeding stops, stick your cut parts into the sanitation sink. Then get some band aids and a finger cot if applicable then keep washing dishes.

  • @Smartguy561
    @Smartguy561 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    This is only partially correct on #9. If someone has a nose bleed, 1close the nose with a cold compress (ice wrapped in a cloth is best) and then tilt the head forward. A cold compress will help the blood to clot faster and help the bleeding to stop. Just pinching the nostrils closed alone will be less effective.

    You guys are really wrong....
    As for the tourniquet:
    In the PHTLS protocol (pre hospital trauma life support) it’s clearly stated that if there’s a major- well seen bleeding the first thing you need to do is stopping it- before calling help..
    Also, saying generally that applying a direct-pressure bandage *before* placing tourniquet would probably get somebody killed..
    In gun shot wounds, amputations, severe traumatic injuries and etc. you should most of the cases place tourniquet to the injured limb, then applying direct-pressure to avoid infections and hypothermia...
    If there’s doubt- place a tourniquet! And then call help.
    I’m writing these down as an EMT Instructor.
