Gorgeous gown Frieda. The tulle overlay is fabulous and does give impression of cracked ice on a lake. Stunning! Watching Rachel’s reveal you can tell she was in love with the dress. Amazing job!❤

I like that you really show the details on the project like the multiple ice layers, the spot for the zipper and how each seam is pressed to make the dress it’s best version. What a brilliant idea to use tulle for ice cracks! The blue tulle overlapped the already-sewn cracks makes the dress resemble a glacier lake with thick, deep ice sheets. Love it!
I have no idea why this showed up in my feed but I am grateful. I grew up sewing a lot of my clothes, but I was using commercial patterns and felt very brave by making minor changes.
I am in awe of someone who can take a fairly simple but beautiful underdress and completely transform it using tulle of all things! I am off to see what it looks like because it was stunning on the mannequin. I want to see how it moves.
I love your attention to detail and your explanations. Although I would never try doing something like this simply because it’s been so many years since I did any real sewing, if I were younger I would give it a try. You did such a good job of explaining everything. You’re an excellent teacher. You’re also a perfect example of taking your time. It’s one thing I always struggled with.
I’ve subscribed because not only did it bring back a lot of very fond memories of sewing with my mother, your voice is so soothing. I’m going to be seeking out your videos when it’s nighttime and I need to just calm for the day. And then to dream of beautiful garments!
I'm also here from Rachel's video. The way you shaped the dress with the "cracking ice" effect is incredible, it's such a fantastic way to both keep it very fitted but also add a completely unique finish that looks utterly magical!
So damn beautiful. I wish I would have spent more time when I was younger creating art like you are doing. I sew everyday. My hands are not what they were but the dreams of creating are still there. Thankyou two lovely ladies for sharing you dreams with us.

I absolutely love the collaboration. Rachel's chaotic, off-the-cuff style, and your meditative, deliberate, thoughtful style work together terrifically and you both made art out of a great bit of inspiration.
This is a gorgeous dress! The fabric choices definitely made the icy/frozen effect quite well. I'll admit I saw Rachel's video first, it's fascinating to see the construction process.
Watched Rachel’s video and the dress is stunning. She managed to display the dress in such a cute way.
You have such a calming voice, I love how you approached the fitting of the gown. The overdress was such a cleaver way of getting the darts but looking like frosted ice lake surface.

Thank you! And I totally agree- sometimes I notice that I don’t think as much like when I started sewing, because I know a comfortable way to achieve something- which leads to not learning more… and just going for it helps a lot with that 🥰

Arrived via Rachel Maksy's channel. I have weak sewing skills, but I an admirer of crafted designs. Those godets and ice simulation tailoring used in this dress overlay was beautiful. Quite smart to make the "under-dress" wearable for any type of special event. Are you planning on making your own thematic design to suit the 2024 MET Gala? As enjoyable as that spectacle itself is to watch, I find it fun rating the results in categories of: (1) "nailed the theme", (2)"respected the theme" (3)"walked around but maybe was near the theme" and of course (4)"what theme?" 😉

I don’t know who Rachel is, but watching this was therapeutic on so many levels. I used to love using silk, and it is so beautiful, but I can’t now since finding out the poor little caterpillars are boiled to death to get their threads 😢
