    I have a Roadster 3 also. I like it alot but it is my first wing after learning on a MOJO so not a lot of experience with other wings yet. It's nice to know that you've flown many others and still like it. :) Good video. Sorry about your tire! :(

    Absolutely beautiful flight as always. Fantastic work my friend . But i am very sorry for your car tyre. Keep up this beautiful work. We love to see you fly.😊

    Man, that’s outrageous that someone slashed your tire! Damn, I’m sorry to hear that!! Great video as always, Lou.

      Thanks! Yeah, a real bummer about the tire. I'm hoping to secure a private strip to fly soon but will see. It's also near the coast. I know it's just a small slice of humanity that does this stuff but but discouraging nonetheless. Thanks again for watching.

      Lou actually I did an siv with my roadster 3 she inflate super great, the only things she don’t like is full stall because she try to inflate super hard and keep flying.

    Hey Lou, I had the exact same wing and enjoyed it as much as you.. you have some serious self control over that type business!

      So far very nice. Looking forward to flying lots more with it. I may have a launch site on some private property so there would be no worries over more vandalism. Thanks for watching!

    Hi Lou - greetings from England! Excellent vid - really helped me to decide to buy this wing and, as someone with comparatively little
    experience, how to go on with it on my first flight (last night.) Have Atom 80 like you - do you trim out from red to full slow as you leave the ground and commence climb out? I found climb out really, really slow on the recommended red trim setting with the little Atom (noticeably slower than my old Mojo.)

    • @loums52
      @loums52  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Greetings from USA and thanks for watching. I do take off with the red trim setting (and usually land at that setting also). Once I have climbed to a desired altitude, I can trim OUT a little (or all the way) to increase the cruising speed but it will take more power for level flight. If I want to go slow or try thermalling a bit (I usually don't fly PPG in any significant thermal conditions!), I will pull IN the trims all the way which is pretty much the PG setting. This does really slow things down and terrible for any penetration into any significant headwinds. With trims all the way IN it is pretty much like flying my Epsilon 9; very gentle but very slow. Unless there is no wind at all, I usually land on the RED setting. With a strong headwind, I might let them out a notch so I don't get too slow. I hope this helps and safe flying.

      @@loums52 Hi Lou - thanks for the reply! I see now that my question understandably confused you when I asked:
      “do you trim out from red to full slow as you leave the ground and commence climb out?”
      I did of course mean “do you trim IN?” My bad 😳. But no worries: I infer the answer I was looking for from your response 👍. Be safe……

    Hi Lou,
    I have been considering the spyder 3 vs epsilon 9 for my next wing (Light wt paramotor setup 81 kg all up takeoff wt, 40 kg thrust but also some xc freeflight) and my conern with the spyder 3 is its collapse recovery, stall behavior and its efficiency for both my reduced thrust steup and thermalling. My concern with the epsilon 9 is its a bit slow. I would love your thoughts on comparing the epsilon 9 to the spyder 3 interms of efficiency (glide ratio, sink rate) ? as far as collapse recovery goes i would just have to accept the hotter behavior if I choose the spyder.

      That's a great question! The first thing to ask yourself is whether your flying will be mostly PG or PPG. The Spyder is a full reflex dedicated Paramotor wing that you can use for PG IF you stay in the upper range of the weight certification (and don't go over according to the website). Unlike the Roadster 3, is is not EN-B certified for any weight range but that doesn't mean it isn't safe but probably just didn't go through the certification process. The other question is what type of PPG flying you will do. Slow and easy or will you be pushing it a bit. While still in the certified weight range you can choose the higher end for faster flying (and landings) with more snappy performance...or like me I chose a larger wing for easier launches and landings but with less penetration through the air. I like the high easy flights. I personally don't do any low passes or more extreme maneuvers. What can I say...I'm old! The Spyder will definitely be the better PPG wing and I did not feel it was be too hot or advanced. Again, it depends a lot of the size wing. At 81 kg, you could fly anywhere from the 20, 22, & 24 BUT if you still want to PG then you would have to pick the 24 to be within the upper range. At 81 kg, the Spyder 24 would be capable of both PPG and PG but you would be pretty light on it for PPG and may not get the cruise performance you want. The Spyder 26 would really be too big. Advance does not show any PPG range for their 22 size wing. I am a bit light on the 26 Epsilon 9 and the 24 would probably work better for PPG and still do PG. At 81 kg, the Ep. 24 would be pretty light for PPG, but great for PG. There are hybrid risers for the Epsilon 9 that would help but the trim range is nothing like the Spyder. The weight of the gliders are about the same so that's not an issue. Both are lighter than the Roadster 3. So, this is all a very long winded way of saying..."It Depends!". For mostly PPG, then I personally would go for the Spyder with the option of some PG as long as the wing you choose is in the top of the weight range and not over. If you do only occasional PPG, then the Epsilon 9 is a much better thermalling wing with very adequate PPG capabilities with the hybrid risers as an option. The Epsilon 24 size would be the sweet spot...as long as you don't want to get anywhere too fast while paramotoring! If you are able to demo each wing that would be great but that's not always possible. Tucker Gott and Aviator PPG both have reviews so that may also be helpful. Best of luck and hope all this helps.

      @Toshan James Being in the middle of the weight range for PG should be fine if you just want to do it occasionally. I know more dedicated PG pilots like the weight towards the upper range for better speed for the same glide ratio but the larger wing will also thermal better in lighter & less "rowdy" days. AS I said before, the larger wing will be more gentle all around but not penetrate the wind as well. If you want to do mostly PPG then go with what would suit you the best. I flew with a slighter larger Spyder wing and I was in the middle of the ideal weight range. I was able to cruise at a lower RPM (~6500 for the Atom 80) and it did climb well. The smaller wing would need a higher RPM for the same climb but the cruise would be faster all trims out. It would also give you snappier performance. The Epsilon with hybrid trims did help the speed a bit but then the RPM went up to at least 7500. The Spyder is probably a more efficient wing for PPG and the cruise would definitely be much faster with all trims out. I don't remember the difference in RPM between the two wings but the Spyder definitely outperforms the Epsilon on PPG. I also did do some ridge soaring with the Spyder at Torrey and it did well. I was quite happy with the lift and turn response. The Roadster was also very good. I never did any significant thermalling with the Spyder or Roadster but can see the Spyder doing well enough in moderate conditions...just keep the trims all. Best wishes.

      Thank you very much. Yes, I wish I knew. Been going to that spot for years. Lots of people park there. I did file an online report just so the local police know about it.

      U know why those sick people bring trouble for others coz they don’t have balls to get in the air and they r just jealous. And also their parents used a puncture condom which cause to bring those scumbags on this planet.

      I wanted an easy launch and smooth ride and easy landing. Speed for me wasn’t an issue. It worked quite well and happy with the performance. I was also able to fly with less power from my little Atom 80. Thanks for watching.

    The lighter version of this wing, the Spyder 3, is currently on my consideration list.

    • @loums52
      @loums52  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I thought about it but the original Spyder just didn't give me the feel I wanted. I think the Spyder 3, however, is much nicer according to reviews. I also launch from some very dirty, sticky and rocky areas so afraid the lightweight material would not last as long. Thanks for watching!
