I was looking online for why one can be breathless is atelactasis following anesthesia so look into that. Several forms but obstructive atelactasis would result from having tube down trachea.
About six months ago I started having extreme breathlessness in the early morning hours around 02.00-03.00 (in the morning). On the third morning I actually hyperventilated and could not sleep. I went to the ER and had all the relevant testing. They finally gave me an inhaler as I requested in the first place and I left with a follow up appointment. I was looking at my blood work results and found I was very anemic. They never even mentioned this to me. It has taken months of increasing my iron intake via diet, food combining to help absorption and supplementation (also breathing exercises). Feeling very well now. I also bought a jump rope to use during the day as my work is centered around the computer. My point is look at your blood tests. If there isn't enough oxygen in your RBCs damage and death can happen. Thank you for your video 🙂
Thank you, Dr. Gupta for these so many gifts of knowledge you keep sharing. I cannot begin to tell you how much these help. Many blessings . I am deeply grateful.
Your videos are very informative. I just recently had an ekg showing “undiagnosed” left atrial enlargement, having a stress test and echocardiogram this week. I found your channel and you have totally taken my stress away.

This eased my anxiety a bit hearing that if it was a heart problem it would get worse with exercise. I think I have bad anxiety attacks and the last 3 days I’ve been having trouble breathing when I’m not laying down. Exercise and Yoga help (or at the very least, temporarily reduce breathlessness).
This is exactly what’s happening to me. It happens the second I fall asleep. And usually at night. But I e also noticed it during the daytime when trying to take a nap. I smoke daily, take about 300mg of caffeine daily, and drink alcohol 4-5 beers a night. I’m really gonna start trying to change my lifestyle/bad habits- cause this is scary. And it’s keeping me from sleeping. Thanks to everyone who posted a comment and thank you Dr. for the video. Good luck to everyone experiencing this same thing. - And God bless.

But it doesnt affect my exercise especially football or futsal (as its actually a lung demanding sport) instead i only feel better when im doing sport. Then i realized Its actually Acid reflux disease instead of heart disease. Then i fix my eating schedule i also take medication like sucralfate. But i think the one that helps me the most is doing jogging almost every morning and afternoon. I really get the getting better feeling from doing that. Rn im much healthier even tho sometimes i also still get breathlessness but its coming just from my anxiety. And this video helps me get through it. Thank you do

I also have had problems where I wake up feeling like i forgot to breath in, or something. But it's not as bad as before, when I would wake up several times a night. Now it will only happen once. It could all be stress related.....I've never had any problems when exercising

I can relate to you all. I am short of breath and it all started 9 months ago. Seen a pulmologist, cardiolist, and some many trips to the PC. Lungs are fine, they did all kinds of test my lungs check out good. I do have AFIB but only occasionally after much study and research I don't think its my heart causing it but it could be. The labored breathing is such a mystery I can't figure it out. I am fit I walk miles every day and not out of breath. I had a stress test done (2 hours) on the treadmill everything was near perfect. Even now as I type when I take a deep breath every 2 or 3 breaths dont' seem to fill the lungs but I can breathe. It is so strange to try to find the cause. Could be plain ole anxiety. I lost my wife 5 years ago and my son 3 years ago lots of stress and the pros say stress is aculmulative it never leaves you you just manage it throughout your lifetime. I deep breathe this sometimes helps. Its like something in either my gut or diaphram is causing it. Still looking for answers. The docs don't know what it is, they just tell me what it IS NOT..more or less. My minerals I take daily I have a great diet I walk I do all the things you are supposed to do. I many never find out but I will not stop trying.

Same here. I am looking under every fucking rock right now. So far I have found out for me specifically, that it might be an anxiety attack in work. I am getting off caffeine right now and I'm reading that anxiety can be a major issue when quitting caffeine. It also might be connected to exhausted adrenal glands which is typical when you consume caffeine heavily. Most of the anxiety symptoms prove right for me so I think this is something I need to figure out. Can also be COPD, but in my case, I have no mucus and when I distract myself in bed with watching something or reading, then suddenly it's back to normal. So, I just read/ watch myself to sleep as a temporary treatment until I figure how to fix the stress or deficiencies that I might have...

Also as .mich as I hate to say this anexity issues run in my family. . I am 50 and been told I have anexity issue since I was 32. I love the beta blocker but decided to stop them when cardio doc did not want me on them 48hrs prior to a stress test so when he said that it discourage me. Never STOP taking then or any med without doctors approval. I did it on my own but slowly. Again not under my doctors approval. I am sure .y blood pressure it a wreck. But I also went straight keto diet which tends to help bp... you are so young so.. I would def rethink what ur systems where before beta blockers. We're u given this only for blood pressure and sinus tachycsrdia?? Many people get on meds for high heart rate due to sinus tachycardia but sinus tachycardia is normal for all types of situation. So people have it when they are taking to much caffeine or diet is not right. Also were u Vax? Did this stuff happen after Vax. Some other things need to be looked at. I am a mess due to genetics and old

Thank you. My sister had triple bypass surgery 4 months ago and she gets breathless but not every day. It is concerning because she thinks she should be much better by now. The breathless episode just last a few minutes and she will be seeing her cardiologist next month to ask him about it. Thank you again.
Hi Cheryl, how's your sister doing? Did she geta diagnosis or a remedy? My Dad had a triple heart bypass nearly 2 years ago and gets exhausted on minimal exertion. He's had so many tests but they can't diagnose the problem.
Always cardiac surgery I had a valve replacement and very dizzy and breathless and also now migraine with aura

I was looking online for why one can be breathless is atelactasis following anesthesia so look into that. Several forms but obstructive atelactasis would result from having tube down trachea.

These are the best teaching vids I have found to explain heart incidents. Thank you Dr Gupta.

I do have a idea on how to stable your breathlessness , it worked for me , but im not sure if it work the same for you.
1. Dont panic and sit up right
2. Dont take a deep breathe for as long as you can
3. Try to focus on something else that can fully distract you from the breathlessness
Keep in mind that this is a idea from a random stranger and *NOT* a docter.

Dear Dr. Gupta. I was having a very bad time before seeing the thumbnail with your beautiful name. Thank you my friend. You are number 1
I am 79, I have been doing Crossfit for 9 years. Even did reasonably well in the 65+ CrossFit open. 3 months ago I was at my doctor for something very minor. He put his stethoscope on my back/chest and said I have a murmur. Echocardiogram indicated moderate to serious mitral valve prolapse and regurgitation. Also moderator serious aortic stenosis. Stress test:- METs 10.2 VOL2 Max 35.9. In a couple of weeks I will be having open heart surgery! Luckily I am excellent health and fitness. If I did not go to my doctor I would never have know until it got significantly worse.

If its a panic attack, then plug one nostril shut, and take a deep breath in through other nostril. Then switch nostril's, and breathe out! Slowly both inhaling and exhaling.

Thanks again Dr Guptor. Yes I presented to my GP with breathlessness and medicated last July. No remission so my GP naturally passed me to a certain Respiratory Consultant who diagnosed Dysfunctional Breathing which was passed back to my GP with no BNP taken by the consultant. More exercise/treadmill and gym work needed apparently. One week later extremely acute breathlessness, back to hospital and the receiving doctor echoed and found heart failure within 30 minutes.

Breath in through the nose by pushing the stomach out for 4 sec, breath out through almost closed mouth for 8 sec. Repeat at least 5 times.

How you doing now
@@carmella88 I’m doing way better. I found out that it’s related to diabetes. And that I was eating chocolate at night at bedtime to calm my sweet tooth. I have been eating better and feeling better. Thanks for asking.
Love you Dr. You're a blessing
Yes ... very useful. Thank you for taking the time to set this all out so straightforwardly
Thank you Doctor. I use to get breathlessness and gasping almost every minute to get some breath. i kept waking up every few minutes on sleep gasping for air due to stopped breathing midsleep, that it really scares me as i hardly sleep for a week as IM afraid to die midsleep not breathing. Thank you do
Thank you, Dr. Gupta for the great info! Very much appreciated.
This was very useful. I’m 30 and I get short of breath when I lay down. Bend forward or get up too fast. Anyone else here experience that?
Have also been experiencing short of breath and fast heart pumptation and an 31
I have had it when I bend my head down when I'm sitting. It rarely happens, but is still kinda scary to think it could be serious. I also have neck strain from looking at my phone, or computer for hours. It's hard to avoid because I work on a computer all day.
I also have had problems where I wake up feeling like i forgot to breath in, or something. But it's not as bad as before, when I would wake up several times a night. Now it will only happen once. It could all be stress related.....I've never had any problems when exercising
You speak so well, you need to be aware of your power. Please be more confident. Humility is great, but i expect my doctor to be more confident and look me in the eye....i.e. camera.

Great explanation on this subject. Answered my question
you are spot on with this video. i just found it. wish i found it 3 months ago. yes, you are correct on every thing you said.
After a major heart attack, i am facing shortness of breathing during slipping but no problem during walking, I can walk continue 45-60 minutes without any shortness of breath or any chest discomfort.
All problems occur at night while laying down or sleeping.
My EF is at 50% after HA.
Doctor Gupta this video is so highly informative and easy to understand Amazing
Same thing happens to me. Everything goes well i work i play for hours but still i feel short of breathe sometimes and taking deep breath sometimes it hepls! Seen a pulmonologist he says everything is f9 and i don't know what triggers this prob!
@@devendra4233 Ya it is a crazy thing All my life I have been good. It is either a mineral dificicency, stress, physical issue (which I am trying t rule out) or something else.
I made a list and wrote down the following. Good or bad marriage, unforgiving someone, bad relationship somewhere, Physical trama, in trouble with the gov or something, or some other issue..all of them checked out. The only thing that seems to keep coming back to me is one thing STRESS. That's where I am thinking is causing this breathlessness especially losing 2 of my loved ones which was real hard on me.
But even then still not sure. I didn't have stress breathing issue before they died, that I know.
Well I will continue to update the findings.
Sorry for your loss, recently loss loved ones this is probably the cause. I had to change the my Philosophy on death after my experience. That helped.
Maybe allergies
I have the same problems and my heart and lungs have been ruled out. I was told it could be a hiatal hernia, which does have to do with the diaphram so you might want to have that tested.
Thank you so much. Dr Gupta ,you are so nice to spend this time. On here And I sure appreciate all your knowledge you are an excellent doctor and I cannot thank you enough for all your information did it help me out a great deal I have a stent and I have a lot of shortness of breath ,
I am a man aged 70 who suffers with breathlessness caused by angina which was only diagnosed about 10 years ago even though it started to be a problem 30 years ago....I started to struggle on stairs and even collapsed once or twice, but never had any chest pain until 10 years ago when I began to experience chest pressure on walking uphill which became a problem. But if I stopped for just a few seconds the pressure subsided. It was a strange sensation but I literally could not take another step, I felt like something inside was about to burst open!Anyway I had the angiogram ,got the angina diagnosis...I have more than one narrowed artery, and I was given the Nitromin spray which I never got on with....It did not prevent the breathlessness,in fact it made it worse ...I literally had to wait for the stuff to wear off before I could take a single step.Believe it or not I still have not used up the first spray I was given 10 years ago!But lately my symptoms have worsened and I often feel like I am about to pass out even walking up a slight incline and I start staggering like a drunken man,It's made me reluctant to go out but I am alone and need to get to the shops on foot.
I am.50 and feel.like.i am.in your shoes. Or a few steps. Back.. my issues of light breathlessness started 38. And just something now right but every so often it would b worse with high heart rate and blood pressure. No I experience what u are saying with stairs 100
Get it checked out m8

The reason why I ask I was taking bisoprolol and it was causing breathlessness. When I stopped taking it my breathing improved. My cardiologist mentioned this can happen in a small percentage of people. I’m not saying to stop taking your medicine but it’s worth looking into and asking your doctor.

I discovered cucumber was causing me breathlessness. Took me over a year to figure it out!😂 (It was only when I was on holiday and didn't have salad with my meals).
Also dairy, peppers, potatoes, aubergines...deadly nightshade family were also causing it. It go so bad (before I realised the cause) and the docs were just prescribing me betablockers (I didn't take them). I do suffer from anxiety, but I was getting panic attacks daily and usually after eating.
Standing up and having a little walk (even in the house) can help, and to avoid foods that you think might be causing problems. Nowadays I rarely have panic attacks thankfully!

I've had the same problem for about a a few months. I went on a strict diet eating nothing but veggies. It went away. But then I started to slack off eating stuff i shouldn't eat and it came back. I've had a scan and it came back normal.
