Yes, I have had a very damaging heart attack! I had an extremely clogged artery which could not be unclogged readily. I needed open heart surgery! That was 10 years ago and I recovered in a few short weeks and was able to return to work! I am now 78 and after a year of retirement I have returned to working part time...20-30 hours a week! They tell me I have only 65 percent of my heart remaining but I feel very well and seldom get even a cold! The amazing surgeon did a great job of using a mammary vein to replace what was needed! Wow!! I was 59 at the time of my heart attach! I feel so thankful!!

This happened to my friend. He's in his early 40's, fit and trim, but ignored hereditary high blood pressure for years, went through a very stressful death of his wife, and eventually noticed he was having a difficult time exercising. The day of his appointment with the cardiologist, had a massive heart attack, and quadruple bypass, and has done enough damage to the heart muscle that it will not recover, so now he's in heart failure. Pay attention to the signs, pay attention to your blood pressure, but even better, start improving lifestyle now.
I've had a Cardiac Arrest , heart failure, and two heart attacks. During a heart attack I threw myself face down on the floor and rocked myself so that pressure was upon my chest as I moved. This because I was alone at the time was the only fail safe thing I could think of , but it DID work and I recovered . I told my doctor and he said that this method helped my heart to resume pumping the blood. This method has worked when ai a cafe, I told a friend to pump my back as I threw myself onto a concrete floor. In the same method as when I was alone at home. I recovered in a matter of minutes. I am now trying to drop the heart tablets I am on Candesarten, Digoxen, Verapamil and Exaralto I consider these tablets EXTREMELY RISKY ! I want to give them up but am advised not to by the medic, because I have ( they say ) Atrial fibrillation, and Arythmia. I would like some suggestions . I don't believe I need to live on all these horrible tablets for the rest of my life .
This is a fantastic video. Thankyou so much. I had a sudden heart attack when I was 40. I was doing everything right. The doctor said after my angiogram there was nothing wrong. It turned out that it was STRESS!!!!!! I was working very hard and constantly worrying and not sleeping. I wish I had seen this video sooner. Thankyou Doctor. This is really brilliant advice.

I keep reading that sleep is an important factor but I have never slept more then 5 hours nightly, how to improve this. I have two stents, high bp and Af.
Great video. I am 71 and had never exercised much. Started about 7 years ago. First brisk walking, then jogging, then slow running and nowadays 8 mph. No chest or arm pain. I am knock-kneed and can run up hill, but not downhill or very far on the flat, before I risk a fall. So I walk a 3.5 mile track, and run up each of 6 hills, making 900 m. in all, with 45 to 55 seconds per hill. Lots of panting. So HIIT, done 3 times a week. Initially wanted to lower BP, which worked well, I guess because of short-term NO release due to shear forces on the arterial wall. When an exercise level no longer had this effect, I moved to the next level up. Bought an oxy-meter (to diagnose Covid) but I can monitor pulse with it, pushing it on at the top of a hill. Despite the panting, pulse never exceeds 115. McCardle and Catch say no training effect below 80% VO2Max. Clearly THEY ARE WRONG. Before the pandemic, resting pulse was 54, putting me into the athletic band for my age. Nowadays it often drops to 50. Saw my GP: no sign heart murmur etc. I think the exercise must have: 1 Removed plaque. 2 Grown collatoral heart vessels. 3 Reduce inflammation. I do eat lots of asparagus and broccoli, or bagged salad when losing weight (13 lb this last summer). Eat pungent rosemary ala Acciaroli, steamed for 3 mins. on top of veg. This feels like magic.
Hi I'm glad you are alright! My dad had a stent last year. I suggest for overall health and anti aging you research Xtend-life they are top notch well researched for natural supplements. The owner is 75 had hidden heart issue despite top health developed CX8 and another product for blood flow and blood pressure. I'm just recommending out of love . Best wishes ✌️
Good on you John...very impressive exercise regime and v impressive results, you mentioned "no sign of heart murmur" can I ask you to clarify point made above regarding 'grown collateral heart vessels' and 'no sign of heart murmer', did this mean that you previously had a heart murmur (usually caused by incomplete/faulty valve) and that somehow the exercise cured it by growing new heart vessels? Many thanks in advance for clarifying, I'm interested because I have a murmur caused by a mitral valve defect. Best wishes and continued good health to you.
Exercise causes inflammation, wear and tear of the heart by nature. Thats why you hate it. Vo2 max is simply measuring stress adaptedness. The higher your vo2 the more stressed your body is. Worthless unhealthy metrics.
You are an angel. This will be my last pack of cigarettes. Thank you for helping so many people. Please come teach American doctors how to actually help people.
Doctors in the USA are not taught preventative measures to keep us well. They are taught to diagnose and write a prescription for a drug. A doctor can lose their license to practice medicine for giving natural over drugs. The doctors and drug companies do not want to put themselves out of business. Pfizer made 4.9 billion in profits on the new vaccine only, in the last 4 months.
"Nutrition is neglected." Thank you, Dr. Gupta. Not many doctors even mention eating better, but there are several studies done that show eating a whole food, plant based diet can actually reverse heart disease. Your a real gem for all of us out here who want to learn, and follow up with these lifestyle changes. For me, it's regular exercise. So good to hear you talk about it all. It's inspiring. Thank you.
For me, plant based was so bad that the doctor wanted to wash out my blood - it was the highest my cholesterol had ever been. Carbohydrates CAN kill me. On Keto it halved my cholesterol but then... I do have FH.
@@chloe7seven22 what keto are you following, my Blood pressure is high so I immediately went to plant based diet, what Keto is working for you...I heard there is different Keto diets..... Thanks
@@chloe7seven22 everyone is different. I am not vegan or keto, but I try to eat more like the blue zones. Some carbohydrates are bad. I eat a little fish, mostly salmon and very very occasionally chicken, But I stick to organic Green‘s, olive oil, a little, and mostly whole grains like brown rice and sweet potatoes. I even eat a few eggs a week. All my symptoms are gone and my cholesterol is down. I used to be on a meat heavy diet in my childhood and now I can’t digest meat. I tried a lamb chop when I was traveling and I got very ill. It wasn’t the meat it was that my body couldn’t tolerate it anymore. Hi Doctor Sanjay Gupta. Always thought that understanding heart attacks or more colloquially "heart fail" is something very complicated.! But your 15 minutes lecture makes this topic look so simple and just about all that a patient needs to know. You are truly a boon and blessing to the all patients. Besides unlike most Doctors who are usually arrogant and haughty. Look forward to many more of your You Tube videos. Thanks Doctor. 🙏

You need to keep Aspirin on you because that shit damages the heart. I'm still having heart problems a year after having it. Also watch out for strokes

The scary part about severe anxiety attacks is that it causes similar symptoms which causes a spike in BP, then the fear succumbs the mind.. it’s an awful feeling.
So scarey. I thought I was have stroke or hardest attack. I had a serious panic attack. I forsure thought it's my heart. My heart was so pumping so much I could taste the adrenaline in my mouth and " taste". It has a unique taste in my whole body as my heart surged and pumped so powerfully because I was dying in my head my brain sent crazy signals to heart and it was so scarey. I would add that listening to you is highly motivational in terms of lifestyle changes, precisely because you are so understated and modest. Thank you.
Doctor, thank you. Your comments on the inflammatory effects of stress are particularly relevant to me and of great interest. Thank you for taking the time to post this video.
I'm 15 and yesterday I woke up with moderately-severe chest pain (breathing in and feeling pain) that turned into only mild pain after a few minutes. Later, I started feeling nauseous, with my left arm in pain but I decided not to tell my mom because it didn't seem likely to have a heart attack at such a young age and about an hour later, I felt perfectly fine, but today my left arm was still cramping and my chest hurt a little every now and then so I decided to tell my mom. I've had history with chest pain in the past but it was nothing similar to what happened yesterday. This video gave me a lot of information and insight to what I experienced and now I've made an appointment to my doctor for a checkup in a few days. Thank you so much :)
A lot of young people suffer with anxiety and it an cause extreme chest pain and symptoms similar to heart attacks. I hope you got checked out and are feeling better.

Dr. Sanjay, I thank you profusely for all your videos, they are worth their words in gold! I went to the hospital myself with a heartbeat of 120 bpm thinking I was about to have heart attack, yet with your formula, it was not really a problem as it was just temporary, I am 78 years old and the formula says I can have 142 heart rate max and I will have no severe problems at temporary time. Dr. Thank you soo much for explaining, people can really change their lives after listening to your lectures, it gives soo much in-depth knowledge. May God Bless You
Brilliant discussion, thank you. Dietary intake is one of the most important issues to deal with, modern ‘food’ is so toxic, over 80% of foods found in most supermarkets are super processed and laced with terrible toxins. Eating quality natural food, no more than is required, is so very rewarding, no sugars, no seed oils, only natural carbs with full fat proteins and dairy , but no milk. One item that was supported in this video was Statins, I’ll take anyone to task over this, unless it’s for emergency use, they have NO place in our bodies, their just as bad as giving insulin to a type 2 diabetic. Our bodies can look after themselves if we just understand the basic needs.
Thank you. Agree, doctors should teach us how to prevent chronic disease rather than wait to treat those chronic diseases. You are correct inflammation is the problem and cause of disease. You could have mentioned keeping well hydrated (drinking plenty of water) since dehydration is a major factor in causing inflammation.
Yes very helpful. It made me realize those who got stents and say I am good now don't realize a thrombus can still occur and cause a heart attack even when the artery that was clogged was opened up with a stent.
Sugar causes inflammation of the arteries -which then causes cholesterol to come and save the day(covers the wound). Why wasn’t sugar mentioned? It’s a biggie.. learned that from Dr Berg❤️
i recently stopped eating ALL sugar. it's been 2months now. wow do i look different. i feel sooooooo much better. and i can tell my body is just getting used to the new me, so i got a ways to go yet. it's only gonna get better without sugar and carbs.
@@adamisaac4685 Carbs are just sugar so yeh. People don't realise the amount of sugar they ingest daily. They think of only the sugar they put in their coffee or the cake they ate at lunch. That's cane sugar but any carbs and fruits of course contribute to higher sugar levels. Eating lots of fruits isn't great, as with everything moderation is key. Cutting out pure cane sugar you find in biscuits, cakes and similar is always a good thing. Cutting out fruits altogether isn't good as you need that fiber, but binging on fruits will bring in too much sugar. Same with pasta, rice etc cutting them out completely is a bit extreme, but eating them exclusively contributes to high sugar (glucose) levels in the blood.
spu3 I’m not saying ppl don’t know sugar is “bad.” I’m saying, the connection between arterial inflammation & the cholesterol that comes in to “Save the day” from the damage caused by it, is a major factor. No, most people do not know that sugar is a huge factor in heart attacks/cholesterol build up & inflammation in the arteries. Main stream media has cholesterol/clogged arteries portrayed as something that comes from eating “fatty foods.” That’s why I asked why he didn’t mention it. (Considering it’s a huge factor. ) I learned it from Dr Berg.
This is good. I need to listen twice. Thank you for sharing. I should not be a candidate for a heart condition such as AFIB and Heart Failure. I do not smoke, I do not consume alcohol, I do not take any drugs legal or illegal. I live in the country and get plenty of exercise taking care of livestock, the garden, and the home. I grow an organic garden. I am vegetarian. I eat primarily organic and fix everything from scratch. I am gluten free. I do not eat any junk food. I do not eat out in restaurants. I study diet and nutrition and am exceeding careful to eat that which is even good for my blood type. BUT, my neighbors drive me crazy ( STRESS) with how inconsiderate they are with not so much now but in the past loud noise they call music, burning trash and polluting the air in violation of the law, shooting guns and fireworks, and not keeping their rotten mutts, nuisance cats, sometimes chickens, pig, goat, bulls, and horses confined to their property. These nuisance animals damage my property and sometimes threaten my livestock and always DISTURB my peace. The rotten, irresponsible animal owners do not pay for the damages done by their animals. Shame on them !! I am pretty sure it was the last dog attack on my mini donkeys that triggered an adverse heart event for me. I nearly dropped to the ground from exhaustion while trying to protect the mini donkeys from that mutt that is a kin to a wolf. That is the very day all my heart issues started. Swelling to the point of edema in the feet, ankles, and legs and shortness of breath. When I did get into the see the doctor I asked for a referral to see a cardiologist. My primary care doc did an EKG and said the test reveals irregular heartbeat aka Afib and a follow up echocardiogram indicated Heart Failure ...if that really was my echo report. It seems my echo was lost within a matter of minutes of the tech doing the echocardiogram and after some panic on her part and that of the cardiologist, an echo they clamed was mine was found. It seems even if you do all the right things to take care of your body, OUTSIDE STRESS can still cause a disturbance.

I think the exercise must have:
1 Removed plaque.
Best wishes and continued good health to you.
jOGGING IS A BAD EXERCISE, YOU LOSE MUSCLE. STICK TO BRISK WALKING.

You could have mentioned keeping well hydrated (drinking plenty of water) since dehydration is a major factor in causing inflammation.
basically, exercise, don't smoke, avoid stress, try to lower inflammation

very informative, so having no warning of a heart attack and suddenly having one is because a bit of grit coming off ! and very unlucky, thanks doctor
@@tonyofarrell2775 As the doctor said there is no proper way of identifying calcium plaque, sadly
Because everyone knows sugar is bad. Unless you been in a coma for 50 years.
spu3 I’m not saying ppl don’t know sugar is “bad.” I’m saying, the connection between arterial inflammation & the cholesterol that comes in to “Save the day” from the damage caused by it, is a major factor.
