A few differences you missed between versions are in Rockman 3 if you pause you keep your invincibility frames, in Mega Man 3 you do not, so if you pause while in s standing on a spike in rm3, you will live if you do the same in mm3, you die. The 2nd one is that Doc Flash is a harder fight in mm3 vs rm3, the bullets fire more rapidly and longer in mm3 vs rm3.
When I play through MM3,. I always get the spark shot first so I can get Rush early. I ran across this glitch as a kid and felt special for finding it. It's not tough to run across though, so I'm sure many others were just as surprised as me.

Yes, the Mega Man games only track the characters that appear in frame. If you scroll a character off a screen it will not reappear unless you scroll the border past its spawn location.

That gun enemy appeared in Keith Courage. Since that game was based on an anime I wonder if a character in that show inspired the concept character.
