They are right about the game's atmosphere. I played this a few years back and the SA-X chases scared the soul out of me. I'm not into horror games but this game NAILED the feeling of pure fear and isolation. AND THIS IS A GAMEBOY GAME!

100% the amount of times I tried to defeat it instead of out run lol what a waste of time. Love this game. Might run it.

I have to admit, it's kinda nice seeing that my favourite Metroid game is more or less the only one that isn't just totally bent over and broken by sequence breaking, it's just pure efficiency and excellent gameplay that makes it work.
When I was a kid, if I had heard of the speedrunning community (if it was a thing in the early 00s...) I'd probably have started speedrunning the game - I did get to the point where I was 100%-ing it in a single play session (of course, that was about triple the current WR, but for someone playing casual without community support, triple the WR isn't exactly shameful.)
"Makes a single wall jump" Hardest strat in the game. Named the moonbooster key hop, shoutout to DraculaXnemisis created this strat while he only had use of one hand.
In my casual 1% playthrough of this game I ended up locking Nightmare into the "cheese strats" loop by accident. Was a relief to discover that after 100 or so deaths to him.

I laughed my ass off when the guy with the goatee told the announcer that there wasn't enough time for donations and then started giving shout outs to other people who speed run.
I turned on CC to see if it put a question mark after everything he said but it doesn't. What it does do though is make fun of the kid with the speech impediment. Shame on you closed caption guy.

Fusion is technically Metroid 4 which is the latest game in the timeline.
As a really big Metroid fan, I'm eagerly awaiting a legitimate Metroid 5 from Nintendo.
They're doing a Prime sequel for a 3D Metroid release, but decided to remake Metroid 2 (after shutting down a perfectly good remake) for their 2D release, I'd much rather a Fusion sequel, keep the Fusion suit design too, it's the best one.

Metroid Fusion was my original introduction to the Metroid franchise. Tough game, nice story, Boss monsters Scary AF!!!! (Mainly SA-X and Nightmare.)

I have a story about Yakuza. I bought my GBA and a copy of Fusion from eBay back in 2002. On the day I got it I sat down and played it for HOURS without stopping. I got to Yakuza and died several times so I put it down. The next day I started it up to find that there were NO saves. I was terrified that I had lost all of it! Not too deterred I went at it again and the same thing happened. I made sure to save every chance I got (absolutely sure I had saved before which is why I was terrified) and died multiple times to Yakuza again. I returned to the title screen and made sure my save was there. I turned it off and back on and the save was gone! The cart I had bought had a bad battery. :( So I had a Metroid game that wouldn't hold a save.
Fortunately, I was able to contact Nintendo and get a replacement that DID work. I think it was a later version because the cart label was different.
GBA games didn't use the battery for saving, you likely got a bootleg.
That was probably a fake chinese cartridge there are a LOT of those out there for the gba.

The space pirates becoming stronger as you progress through the game is nothing new. Remember how strong the space pirates were in lower Norfair in Super Metroid?

Anyone who does a 0% run on Fusion is a god and deserves all the credit in the world. This game is probably one of the hardest to 0% because of how hard the enemies hit and how much damage you take.

I really wish the color scheme of the fusion suit was retained in the game, but varia and gravity make it look like purple and teal nightmare
Keyboard is the way to go. Less mistakes in the long run.

What is this being played on, a Gameboy Player? What kind of controller? Sorry, just curious!
I would assume it's played on the GBA-player of the game cube and the controller looks like a GBA SP - but I have no proof ^^
I don't run the game, but I do play it on keyboard because I am used to keyboard controls. WASD as the D-Pad, Shift as L, Spacebar as R with K and J as A and B respectively.

To my mind this game is one of the scariest horror games in so far as just nerve shredding tension. Definitely my favourite Metroid game behind Super Metroid.

Why is the announcer still reading donations during one of the hardest boss fights since ever? $1,400 or some large sum maybe, but all these small ones can wait until after the runner is done and in a comfortable position. Especially when the runner and the couch asks for silence to concentrate.

I have no clue, why they say the bomb jump is hard in this game. I am a casual player and i get between 3 and 4 consistent bomb jumps most of the time
Infinite bomb jumping is not possible, the game just does not allow you to bounce from a bomb mid air. if you are on the ground the bomb does bounce you.
@@JRP2234 To my understanding, it is not about being mid-air. You can be effected by a bomb blast *once* before landing, regardless of where or why. There is a part in 100% when you spring ball jump, mid air bomb, and then jump back to the bomb before it blows. This gives you enough height to get into an "exit only" tunnel you cannot normally reach.
DarkonFullPower you can be affected by bombs multiple times in the air, but it’s effect is pretty small, up to around half a block gained. There are very few places where we can use midair bombs because of its small effect
