Most Insane Immersive Movie Experience EVER, Part 1

- Check out this guy's room totally change into the movie he is watching! No SFX, no post production, no cuts, everything you see here is 100% for real.
We were funded by the Video Store of PlayStation® Store (www.greatfilmsfillrooms.com) to make a series of movie related videos using 'Immersive Imaging' which takes 3D projection mapping as its starting point, but gives the viewer a supercharged experience with the help of the PlayStation Move controller.
In the past, projection mapping worked only from a single, static view point, and thus was very limited. By attaching the PlayStation Move to the camera, we can track projections to screens in real time, enhancing the effect of spatial deformation and false perspective on the projections and allowing viewers to look round (virtual) corners, bend walls, create a hole in the wall, or remove the walls altogether to reveal vast expanses of virtual worlds. - เกม
Every house in the future should have a 3D projection mapping room. We have the dining room, bedroom, living room blah blah blah, time for a new a new addition. The psychedelic room.
.-.
David D I totally agree!
David D Well you can already do nice mappings at home :)
I use a software that's really easy (and fast) to use for projection mapping.
It's called HeavyM, maybe you should try ^^
Link --> www.heavym.net/fr/
You should read "The Veldt"
I'd want to listen to Pink Floyd in a room like that LOL
Awesome video! Keep up the fantastic work!
THIS U
It's all about the camera position, from his perspective it wouldn't look 3D at all.
Not necessarily true. By having facial tracking (one person only) it can reorient the room to behave so that it changes how it looks according to the viewer. Example: the camera. It moved around the set, but maintained the illusion by reorienting itslef to be in tune with the camera, the room could do the same
Coll Drake Yes that will work too
Finally! Somebody who commented and actually understood what they saw. Cudos. The camera movement was choreographed, as was the projected footage. It just makes it look that much better.
IMAGINE TRIPPING IN THAT.
I thought the same thing.
"One take"
Mhmm. What about the cut at 0:45?
Got 'em.
Exactly
I love how he is so excited to watch the cameras and people in front of him
totally insane. a virtual Tron portal.
eventually we'll be able to not only witness & experience a video from within it as a viewer in a 3D environment, but could actually play a character in a film or video game and interact with virtual characters.
i wish they'd hurry up with that tech.
That blew up my cerebro!!! Not at all easy to realise in real time, very cool :)
When he put the Mellon on his head ...I knew it would be epic!
LMAO
The 3D elements are based on where the camera is. From his perspective it wouldn't actually look that cool, but it's a neat concept.
You could have the person using an eye tracker, then some insane software moves the projection around in real time based on where his eyes go
Sick stuff, guys!
Brilliant... just brilliant!
This is why I love the future. My room can be floating in the middle of space with this :D
Is cool. Most immersive film experience ever yeah I don't know about all that. Technically cool as hell and clearly well thought out and planned with great execution.
The biggest delirium of the year. Always use in torture chambers.
Nice projection mapping and indeed looks like no post. A hell of a lot of pre-production went into it but the out come was worth it.
i like how they trick everyone into thinking HEY you can see the fishing rod this is a cheap trick then boom
what about his rod
this is freaking awesome!
I dont get it how the projected sphere on the floor remains stable while the camera moves, so is it aligned from the camera position?
What really gets you is that when it starts, you actually think it's a normal room, until you remember the small pieces of pre-production showing it's actually empty, save for the sofa and the table.
If you make some effort, you can see where the floor connects to the wall, but most of the time, you feel like he's in a huge room like X-Men's "Brain" room.
so these videos have been around for years. when will this happen?
these sorts of projection mapping are mostly seen at interactive art museums. they're around.
This video has been selected by the channel as one of the best Gaming videos on TH-cam and was added to the channel's playlist accordingly. Thanks for sharing.

bestofYTchannel
@videomeltdown does it say there was a single projection source anywhere? I believe there were numerous projectors being used for these videos.
What did I just see? Looks amazing.
0:45
Good catch
need this!
This is done with what is called projection mapping. The guy is sitting in a white room on a white sofa. The environment is being rendered in realtime around him. What makes this special is that in order for the camera to move around randomly like it does (handheld) the rendering would have to track the location of the camera and adjust in order to show the proper perspective (it's like that street art that only works from one angle). The PS Move is actually used to provide that camera data.
Best Video Mapping so far!
Nice peep into the future of gaming, like the holodeck technology in startrek, amazing !
my brain will explode when you can play games like that at home
this could be the future of theater, dont hate me for sayin.. :)
yes! that's a cool idea, i think it will be the future of theater.
The future of theatre? I can't wait.
future of theater
future? present instead. as you can see :D just not for us, for developers. but it's present.
VR is the future
Amazing! goes to show what you can do with Green screen effects. and a lot of preparation. and Talent
Amazing!
That was actually pretty damn cool
that was awesome
that's truly amazing ,iam fan of playstation since iam kid . is there Pre- production work ?
although this is from playstation it is good
i see they are evolving to good stuff now
this was awesome looking forward to part 2
WOW. Not sure what to say. Amazing! WANT that head melon for Xmas :)
@theparashooters an edit doesn't automatically mean it was more than one take, it does however imply a certain amount of "post production"
This is neat. I like it a lot.
Do could use this technologie around an omnidirectionnal treadmill ? Because i've created one...
would be cool to see another camera angle to see how it looks if not synced up with projectors
Very nice! N nice steadicam work too!! AR. :)
How could it be done? Somebody pelase explain me, how they do that? i need information of the technology being used in this video I want to get one to do a project. Please....any information will be appreciated.
Leonardo Armijos I believe it's called projection mapping or video mapping
Is there a part 2?
lol at the lamp still floating in the background lol
dam i want one
I take it that the main surfaces are projection screens and the images were projected on to them. The guy, fruit, etc. were props. Interesting.
Very, very cool.
I was waiting for an animation of the couch shooting through that tunnel before it ended :p
@theparashooters that's an effect added in during editing, just like the camera flickers
@theparashooters when you watch a person traverse across a room with flashing lights, it can produce the same effect. the moment the light begins to flicker, several frames take place during the dark phase.
you know i thought at first glance its live production of movie , its quite interest why you didn't try this kind of work too . thanks in advance david
holy shit the beginning in the room is all light on a while wall :O
I think my brain just shat itself.
that was actually pretty cool :)
had a little problem with those glasses White Spandex Guy LOL
was immersive until that.
¿ CUANTOS Lumen TIENEN QUE SER LO PROYECTORES DE VIDEO BEAM?
AWESOMEEEE
@stickmand123 look again he right leg is in a completely different position, if you are really have trouble seeing this like I first did, then hold the SPACE BAR from 43 and keep watching.
I didn't do that however I just watched carefully, don't stick by what you saying just becuase you believe it, look more thoroughly!
GREAT!!
@Trigun241 So they explain that there is a cut somewhere? Where did you read this? It's just sad cause they start the video by saying that there is no post production.
That guy has the perfect living room to take shrooms in
thanks I know how to do that, but I would need it for a tv commercial that's why I'm willing to buy it :) and also de sound fx
love it :)
wow.:) projection mapping is just great.:) if you add some anaglyph 3D images to the scene it would get more depth and could look even more realistic for the viewer.:)
I had a teleporting leg, until I took an arrow in the knee.
this is wicked guys ... nice one
A number of techniques and equipment are being used but the projection mapping software that allows you to see it is free. It's called VPT and is a pretty stout package.
1:10 is like when the Disco close and you're always stoned...
Epic.
I like how people are bitching about the cut, even though little was happening at that point... the main transition from 'room' to 'digital world' was before it.
Alright, time to try it. I'm about to stick half of a hallowed out watermelon on my head, and see if this works.
Well done! I'd say all of this is possible now in VR with the Oculus Rift.
..and not realizing it's all on/in your head!
Does anyone know how I can project this kind of thing in my room?
awesome
Tron Called . He wants his car keys back .
@theparashooters Hi, I'm Ian the Art Director on this project. Just wanted to respond to your comment about there being a cut. I can 100% guarantee though there are no cuts or post on any of these films! ;-)
We had a glitch in the export on this take and a few frames were dropped out which causes it to jump. If you look at the other 2 films you'll see there's nothing else like this on them.
Anyway, hope you like them. We're releasing the 'making of' video soon, so you can see how we did it.
The guy had an orange on a fishing rod at the beginning
We're mostly water reaching out for the sweetness of life (water-filled flying fruits) and never quite getting all, if any, of it
this is future entertainment
@AwesomeMiddleVidz
Firstly, it's called the Eyetoy Play, so you're close.
Secondly, Nintendo uses motion controls in their controller, no camera included.
Lastly, the Eyetoy play senses movement, even if it is just a door opening. It assumes it was a person. Kinect actually senses your body and builds a simple model of you to detect movement.
And yes I do have both!
(P.S. You cant copyright motion controls.)
Awesome how you can fool the eye with "simple" means !
I’m imagining 70+ takes and 2 in the end
Cool
@MonTicheDansTaMere the point is, that it doesn't use post animation,, but just blank plane and real time projection.
My living room will never stay that white
@videomeltdown why not? all you'd do is hook the projector up with the camera so that the camera position would affect what the view angles and positions of objects that are projected on the canvas
I'll explain it. There is a four way projector that projects on all walls. The playstation Eye locks on tonyour eyes and where ever you are it will look 3d . It's basic technology. But guessing it won't be available until 2016/2017
I liked it, it was pretty cool :D
Actually if you watch until the end, or read the description, you'll notice that it's sponsored by Sony. It uses the Playstation Move.
reminds me of Mr. Beam's projection projects
Cool!
I love how people are getting annoyed and saying this is fake becuase there was possibly one cut in the video, where microsoft uses previously recorded videos to 'demonstrate kinect'
Very cool, but what are the Greendale mascotts doing here ?
Me: This is awesome!
CT: Nope, just Chuck Testa.
Me: Awwww...
omg best thing i ever seen
OMFG!!! I want this!!!!
Living the dream
WOW I want one too :)
