Definitely not but sure love my part time condo in Coronado, steps away from the beach and Navy SEALs next door. I can be at the beach in about three minutes, just down the elevator from the 10th floor, out the door, and 500 feet away dipping my toes into the ocean. We also get some lovely sewage smells from TJ when it rains a lot. Might sell my place at the Shores due to that reason.
I bought a 4 bedroom, 2 bath home in the Alta Vista neighborhood back in 2008 for under $200,000, all thanks to the misconception that it is a very bad neighborhood by coworkers and realters. It is actually a very nice family oriented neighborhood with no HOA, and beautiful 180degree views of downtown SD, the Ocean, and even Tijuana city lights! My only complaint now is getting those annoying calls and visits from investors asking if I am interested in selling for cash since my home has tripled in value.
