YouPudding strats are gonna be the same deal as Hoang strats. It's new, so not many people know how to deal with it. Eventually, it will become professional meta until people know how to play around it then fade into obscurity again. I miss Hoang rushes.
Well it depends how commital the counter is, if you can keep it save against other strategies while countering the rush than it will probably fade into obscurity, however if you your counter is commital enough the strat will still be a useful mindgame tool against your opponent.
They said the same about Inca Noburu rush, how did that turn out

Yep. They're a mediocre unit in castle age. The key is the speed.

To those saying this is OP:
I've fought this a few times, and have been massively successful playing standard 19pop 2 range archers (not lost a game against it). By the time he's producing sergents you've got at least 8 archers on the field, and should always be able to outmass him. If he somehow manages to get a forward siege workshop up before you inch your way to castle, archers do exactly the same dmg as xbows to siege. One mangonel can be stopped by 20+ arch if you've been at all active with them in picking off sergents and if you're lucky the odd vill. It's mostly scout builds and /or panic which kills people in my experience, also when doing this strat myself.
Elo is 1650, so my micro and macro are decent - but don't forget, at lower elo's, the enemy is making more mistakes as well ;)
In short, FC yourself and get bodkin archers or CA.
Not sure how that was your take away form my comment. You can do that for sure, but it's harder to pull off in my opinion. Predicting his FC, pulling off your own in an equal or even faster time frame, and building ranges + getting fletching bodkin, is incredibly expensive. Going standard, massing arch (I mean legit stay feudal as usual, get 20-30 arch, all that good stuff), and don't sacrifice production to get up behind them anyways. FC plays into their game plan, putting you behind whilst leaving you with the weaker comp.@@S_Heavens
Totally agree, in the T90 videos the ones whi dies the hardest agaisnt the Youpudding are the one who stayed forever feudal.
I am not a skilled player (1000 elo), but it always struck me that so many people put their faith in feudal units...
Again I'm not sure my comment came across properly. I'm saying you should stay feudal, but go archers. It's able to deal with this strat unlike scout play, which is what you always see dying to it.@@alainpasqualini1869

Very nice. I think that opponent would build those TCs closer together next time he booms out. Against overlapping fields of fire, the CA couldn’t deny enough eco to stall out the Sicilian push at the front. Next up it’s scorpions at home, and then Viper is deeply behind in eco and army, and finds another way to beat you 10 minutes later.
Very well played. He also did a good job switching to castle boom after you fast castled and slowed his attack, but it kind of put him on the back foot, and once you had upgrades you were able to run away with it. You did a good job just spreading out enough to make it hard for him to pressure with few units. I do wonder if he'd have been better off with rams or mangos. Another good defensive strat is monks to convert the sergeants cause they're slow and then you end up with an army of them plus whatever you have. If you can hit castle fast enough you have options, but the massing feudal armies strat really struggles vs sergeant rush.

bohemians is hard counter to youpudding, just fast castle, unveristy, and 4-5 hand cannoners destroy sargents and siege and u send 1 to his base, is over 11

this is why you need a archer range to make skirms as the sicilians. I usually try to push during the feudal age instead of FC. archers don't really do to well against serjaunts once you get armor and you want fletching anyway so skirms with the donjons works as well.
What did I just read..? Out of curiosity, do you know how all ins work? And why skirms are useless when you all in?
@@artila no. I literally go goblin mode every game. 🤣 he also decided to stop his all in and build multiple TC's he couldn't defend. So why not make an archer range and get elite skirm?
@@attilathechilla.1383 The game was lost when he fell back to boom. You'll need elite skirms with Bodkin to be anywhere close to competing with CA. That is really expensive as he doesn't have resources. Plus Viper has mangonels, so skirms are useless. He knew both Viper and him had potato eco, so his win condition then becomes getting an eco lead. Might have worked against someone at his same level, but Viper with all that experience would never let him get away with that.
@@artila makes sense. Last time I did the strategy I had skirm support from the beginning and I attack in feudal. People at my elo (950-1000) usually go knights.
It looks chaotic but this might be the lowest stress game Viper has played😂
Which also brings another point of how unexciting games has been lately they're either gimmicky or one sided, both 1v1 and 4v4 games. I guess the nomad games has been good.

@@AndrewMeyer No, I mean a complete fakeout. Go for the same build, when opponent sees your donjon he shits his pants and does no eco FC and spams ranges. But you just make like a single sergeant and then market abuse into 3 fast built TCs. Opponents eco will be crippled and I don’t think CA can make a dent in TC + donjon defended eco.
@@user-dp4ck5ut2q this requires scouting the opponent and being able to adapt. I think it may work and I also think such adaptations are what will decide the long time viability of this strat.
@@user-dp4ck5ut2qthis is all assuming you have a safe woodline, resources on the back, or you are dropping a castle? otherwise how would you respond to the archer mass? they are def not letting you boom for free after 3 ranges were made
Vietnamese is one of the best civ to counter youpudding Sicilian strat.
When you see Vipi struggling to neutralize a kind of straightforward strategy, it really means is OP... I'm sure making a video explaining this siege/economy approach would be amazing.

Well I wouldn't say so, his opponents is a very good player and he really didn't have the upper hand once in the game. So you could say it's a bad strategy rather than an OP one.

@@maskaronehe knew what was coming, and in my opinion only some microgods would knew how to react and safe the day. Once the strat was neutralized, game became messy, but in my opinion it seems Vip had to sweat for couple minutes. Could be nice if he gives his opinion

Id love to see Viper try streaming a different game once in a while. I love aoe2 its my favorite game dont get me wrong. But there are so many new and exciting games coming out and Viper has good charisma to watch whatever hes playing. I personally love Resident Evil but know the horror genre isnt for everyone. Just an idea that maybe if he did like a fan poll for the next new exciting game and maybe one day a week for a couple hours we get to see him try something new. Then maybe you appeal to a a little bit of a new audience and then introduce them to AOE2. Im sure Viper would love to branch out once in a while too. Hes so dialed in id love to hear his opinions on new games too if he feels qualified to give it. Has Viper ever tried Dark Souls? Theres a new Lies of P game thats supposed to be in the style of Dark Souls, that would be a cool one to see him try and id love to hear a review if i should try or not. Just an idea please dont yell at me
