I decided to try ‘dry January’ this year. But instead of no alcohol I did no tv/social media scrolling. I was stunned by the number of books I read. I think January was 20 books. I’ve continued to limit mindless viewing, but have added some more specific viewing choices back in my schedule. I’m at 80 books for the year so far (I usually read about 50 books a year). There are so many more quality books available over quality movies/tv. It’s a definite choice to choose reading, so worth it.

If you want a fun family read for your boys, you could try Emily Rodda's books. They're a staple for Aussie children. I grew up with her books all around me. (The ones that were out in the 90's)
6 of her series are all in the same world: Rowan of Rin; Deltora Quest 1; DQ 2; DQ 3; Three Doors Trilogy; and Star of Deltora.
    I think they're aimed at ages 8-12.
There are other books but they're in different worlds. Still good reads.

@GoodBooksLately That's neat! We're about to do the audio versions of Journey to the centre, and maybe 20,000 Leagues, while working on puzzles. Perfect quiet playtime.

Your video just popped up on my home page. Glad the YT algorithm pointed me to your channel. Thank you for sharing your books. I tagged a few on my LIbby app (my hold list is always at the max!). I agree, that it's easier to read more if one is mindful in finding time to read. It's so easy to mindlessly watch TV or scroll through social media on the phone. I read a lot, but I also commit to reading more now that my son is older. Look forward to watching more of your videos.

Thanks for yet another fun episode! I really like that you record so often!
I had the chance to visit Pompeji with one of my sons a couple of years ago. It was truly amazing! What stuck out to me were of course several things, but really, how modern the society was! They even has fast food street restaurants with their version of ovens! The architecture was amazing and the mosaic floors in the baths exquisite! I’d like to go back again and explore more!
Currently, I’m reading The book that wouldn’t burn by Mark Lawrence (just started, but I was really attracted to the title of the second book in his Library triology, which is The book that broke the world. I read it on my kindle, but the covers are amazing too). I also read the fourth book in a Swedish series during the second world war, talking about women who secretly worked within our government to crack German codes. Very interesting!

I enjoy listening to your take on books. I love to read, I've always loved to read and I read fast. Drove my mom crazy when I was a kid because I constantly wanted to go to the library to get more books. According to Goodreads I've read 72 books this year. Include those I listen to while knitting. I enjoy almost all genres except horror, like Stephen King. One thing I've found is sometimes I will listen to a book that I've already read and I've found it's any entirely different take on the book. I hear things I don't remember reading and the a good narrator makes all the difference.
Right now I'm listening to Encore in Death, one of the In Death books by JD Robb. It's book number 56 of the series. I just finished reading Wisteria Witches by Angela Pepper. Not sure of my opinion of it and whether I will read the next one. Currently looking through my extensive want to read list in Goodreads, looking for my next book to read.
I'd rather read than watch tv.

The Wolf Den sounds interesting. Your description of the graffiti reminded me of Life of Brian where the Roman guard catches a graffiti writer and doesn’t punish him but corrects his Latin. 😅 I just downloaded The Ministry of Time and picked up The Vampires of El Norte from the library.
I read in the mornings with coffee and before I head out to work. I also try to read before bed but always fall asleep 😴.

Heinlein : both "Hein" and "-lein" rhyme with "wine". More famous books by Robert Heinlein are _Stranger in a Strange Land,_ _Starship Troopers,_ and _The Moon is a Harsh Mistress._
Quote of the day: _"Nothing in life is so exhilarating as to be shot at without result."_ Winston Churchill
I just finished _Lady Audley's Secret,_ by Mary Elizabeth Braddon, written in 1862). It's the story of a beautiful but narcissistic girl in her early 20s marrying a 50+ year old aristocrat. It's a "sensation novel," and a detective story where you already know who's guilty but the interest is in how the guilty will be found out. I enjoyed it very much. This is a book I read on my iPhone using the "Serial Reader" app developed by Michael Schmitt. This app delivers one chapter a day to your phone, usually a 20 minute piece or so. It's a nice way to squeeze in a second novel along with my main reads on my Kindle.

He never got a chance to see this podcast He would have really enjoyed it and I often catch myself saying Jesse would love that book. Especially Brandons recommendations. He love Stephen King too. Anyway….I am reading a wonderful book right now that you, Taylor, might really like. The Frozen River by Ariel Lawson. It is fiction about a real historic figure and midwife Martha Ballad. The story is set in Hallowell Maine one of my favorite places. Years ago I read her biography A Midwife’s Tale by Laurel Thatcher it was wonderful too. I would recommend them both. Thanks for your wonderful podcast. I so look forward to it.

Barbara I am so sorry for your loss. I can’t imagine what that must be like. It sounds like your husband had good taste in books. Thank you so much for watching and for your recommendation here. I’ll definitely be adding it to my Want to Read list. ❤️

Yes I read but I don't think you would like to read what I do. But I enjoy watching you react to each other. I am a Christian that is why I said you would not like to read what I do. But, you two are so fun!

We might have to try a McFadden book together to see what Tayler thinks. 👍❤️👍

Housemaid is so much better than Lie to Me. Housemaid is Mcfaddens best book in my opinions.
