    I have the Cornford MKII 50 watt amp head. The was designed by Martin Kidd. The amp has two channels with two masters volumes and two effects loop with one effects loop for each channel.

      I used to play on a 6 or 12w Cornford 2x12 studio amp in the local shop. Could never afford the damn thing at the time but the guy in the shop let me play through it with my shitty choice of guitar 😂

    Martin Kidd & Victory team makes some of the best amps on the market today. Period. Have a Jack MKII and a Sheriff V4 amp and they handle easily everything my Marshall -82 Superbass and Soldano Decatone can do!

    Does anybody else feel like there's an enormous hole in the market right now for newer and better tube power amps? Has class D solid state just already won? It's driving me nuts that everyone is making all these awesome pre-amps (yes I realize the video is more about hybrid amps) , but almost no one is making (more affordable) tube power amps. Yes it's surprising how good the newer solid state stuff is but there is still a noticeable difference. We can buy respectable full on tube combo amps cheaper than we can get 1980's style rackmount stereo tube power amp and then when you do get one the volume would get you kicked out of most gigs because it's so powerful. Are there not better tube master volume circuits available by now? I have been looking everywhere trying to find smaller tube power amps. How is half a guitar amp more expensive than a guitar amp? Why are more amp makers not seeing the opportunities for more convenient stereo rigs when Simon Jarret can put a Dumble on your pedalboard?

      The only product like that in Thomann is the Mooer Tube Engine. A mono power amp. The rest is Class D or Boutique amp distribution products like Synergy stuff or fryette power station.
      I use a modeller (hx stomp) and never use FRFR. Just fxloop returns of solid state amps. I don't really know if i'm missing something with the tube power amp thing.

      @@martiboucat I may well get a Mooer Tube Engine but I will have to get one shipped to USA from Europe. Due to other amps I already have my heart is set on a Fryette PS-2 Power station first, which sadly does not help me run stereo. You can find demo's comparing the PS-2 to a Seymour Duncan Powerstage and the difference is not huge but it is real. In my case I have a Kinsley Maiden D pedal pre-amp and a Friedman IR-X so I would really like to use tubes with tubes. Class D makes plenty of sense if you are using a modeler and you might be able to dial in some level of power amp simulation or use something like a UA Ox Stomp. The new product in this sphere I am curious about is the Blackstar Amp 1, which can work well as a standalone full amp OR as a power amp for another device like a modeler or pre-amp. The digital emulation of different power tube amps on the Amp 1 is intriguing to me, but several reviewers still prefer a real amp for live use. That seems to be where we are with the technology; You won't be able to tell this difference on a recording but for live use tubes can still feel different and provide that extra bit of nuance. I am being very picky about getting the most out of some boutique gear. My opinion is that with today's tech we should not have to compromise, and it should not cost as much as buying yet another fully featured tube amp.

      @@lukepowell1201 If i recall correctly, Dave Friedman said during a Tone Talk episode that he was designing a power amp.
      Ola Englund uses a KSR tube power amp but it's really expensive.
      The Synergy SYN-5050 seems the way to go if you want stereo or dual-mono
      I don't get the UA OX stomp thing with a the classD poweramp. Does the oxstomp have a poweramp emulation and you can disable cabs?

      @@martiboucat So I should acknowledge that my comment about the Ox Stomp was off topic. The Ox has almost nothing to do with power amps, I have simply seen players use the Ox Stomp with modelers with very enthusiastic results. It would sound great with your helix going direct or recording or perhaps with a powercab - that was my only connection there. The KSR power amp appears to be high quality but especially at their price point I see no advantage over a Fryette Power Station. I actually already have a Mesa Boogie 50/50 stereo power amp. It sounds great but even in low power mode it is a beast! Really too loud to be practical for home or small gigs in my opinion. So the quest for more versatile options continues. If Dave Friedman builds a power amp that would be sweet! He's a good designer to do it!

    I’ve a sheriff v4. Great as an IR solution but not a great amp through a cab. Noise floor is horrendous

    Love Victory amps various guitarists I know play!
    Wish they would do a quality simple 5 knob clean sounding (Fenderish/Hiwattish) bass head. Say 50 watts?

    Wasnt it Jeff Beck who said something about Plexis being the amp you feel in your chest more than any other amp?

    How does it sound compared to Bluguitar Amp1?

    • @thunderbirdcalls
      @thunderbirdcalls 12 วันที่ผ่านมา

      It's better. The V4 series of amps has tubes in the preamp. Two notes, additional circuitry for distortion (treble boost in The Copper only, I believe) and feel (Valve Response Ciruit or VRC), etc. I still appreciate the BluGuitar amps and may take another look after a while.
