    Cell Phone Service: Bell, Telus, Koodo & Virgin Mobile - cell service was poor. Depending on where you are in the park the service varies. We experience buffering with web pages and video at time. Unreliable. If you've been to this park please let us know your experience with cell service, especially if your with a service provider different from the ones mentioned.

      Rogers/Fido internet is spotty. Stayed in East River. Sometimes it worked and sometimes didn't.

      My daughter, dog and I just had our first trip to Algonquin (Canisbay lake) and absolutely LOVED it. Curious what you do with Jax (sp?) when you go out on the kayaks or sup?

    • @CampingwiththeColes
      @CampingwiththeColes  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Canisbay is awesome, especially in late September/early October. The colours are amazing then.
      We are fortunate that Jax is content to nap in the trailer and not make noise when we leave. We take him out for a good, walk, hike and/or swim to wear him out before leaving him in the trailer to nap. When we first got him we tested out how well he would do by leaving a camera recording in the trailer while we were next door at our friend's campfire. We never heard him at all and checked the footage and he was fine. On several trips we had friends camping beside us and we would leave to shoot some video or something and we asked them to listen for Jax to see if he was making noise and he was always good. So now we feel that we can leave him for a few hours at a time. I know the parks frown on people leaving pets unattended but this is what works for us. We usually take him with us on the SUP but he doesn't fit in our kayaks. I'm researching other kayaks that I would be able to have him join us.

      @@CampingwiththeColes thanks so much! This is what I will be doing next season when we have our kayaks with us. We have a 3 year old American bulldog who is quiet and after a few km hike is down for the day 😁. Algonquin will be hard to beat, especially since we saw our first ever moose! Your reviews are incredibly helpful and I really appreciate the time you put into this. Looking forward to your PEI videos as that is on the bucket list in the coming years. Maybe we will cross paths in the future, cheers.

    My first time to arrowhead PP was in 1974, It has changed a lot .Big bend lookout had no platform and you could jump down the bank to the Big east river and swim across and hang out/lunch. The foot bridge use to be the main bridge going in! It was a steep drive coming in a out. Stubb falls had no stairs or bridge, you had to walk down and cross the river to get to get to the falls. Back then you were aloud to I go in the whirlpool….It was amazing times there with lots of life long memories with our kids ! I was just there this past weekend for a short 2 day stay. This is one of our favourite parks, both of my girls visit here on there own now. To introduce camping to your kids when there young is the best thing you can do ❤ :)

      Yeah, it really depends on the time of year you go. The first time we went was in July and we got eaten alive by deer flies and horse flies. The mosquitoes were a pleasure because they were slow and easy to kill.

    We love Arrowhead! Agree with you guys…campsites are big and very private. Just there in August of this year and surprised to see that the main office at the park entrance is closed and you have to go to the park store in the middle of the campground to register unless you pre-register online. Luckily we pre-registered online while we still had good cell service and then we didn’t need to wait in the long line at the park store. We love the campground booklet too!! Happy camping!!

    We did the mayflower trail when we were there a few years ago. Not sure if we got lost or it was part of the trail but you almost had to be a mountain goat to get up it. Lol. If you do the cabins get yourself a portable toilet. I’m like you, gotta have my potty.🤣. Have never actually camped here but visited it many times. Gonna put on my list now. Thanks

    Yes, no laundry facilities is a downside. We were there last summer and needed to wash 1 load of laundry. We had to go into Huntsville to do it and and there’s only 2 laundry mats in Huntsville and both are insanely busy. It took forever to wash 1 load.

    Another great video. We went to Arrowhead in mid July and really enjoyed it. Unfortunately, we got there before a big rainstorm that washed out the paths down to both the main beach and at Roe where we were also staying. It certainly made it challenging getting our canoe down to the water! We also had a lot of rain the first night which flooded many sites so I would advise anyone to be mindful of the low-lying areas of their site when setting up. We only used our bikes on the roads because many of the paths were full of roots and rocks, so we walked instead. The scenery in this park is lovely and the canoing was very peaceful. The fill/dump station was great and we were very happy when we followed your advice to dump there after our trip to Canisbay. Hope you had a good trip to PEI! So much to do there. Safe travels and looking forward to the videos.😊

    We have been to Arrowhead several times. We like the huge sites. My very first time camping there was back in the late 60's when the park was under construction. We were in the Lumby area and they allowed campers to come in and camp .My father didn't like the lake as there were no outcropping to go for picnic lunches ( they didn't like beaches) so we never went back. Ken and I have been there in 3 seasons and hope to maybe get there for a March Break trip - in a tent . Cheryl, try a Lugable Loo if you want to try the cabins...makes life easier

      We sometimes leave him in the trailer. When we first got him we tested him with being left alone in the trailer. I put a camera in the trailer and left him alone while we were next door at our friend's campsite. I checked the footage and he just walked around a bit then laid down for a nap. We also had friends in neighbouring sites listen for him when we went away for short periods of time and he was quiet. We lucked out, and he's fine to be left alone in the trailer. If it's hot out, we put the air conditioner on for him but leave him for shorter periods of time, worried about the power going out for some reason. We always wear him about beforehand with a good walk or swim and give him a treat before we leave him alone.
