5:48 I would like to hear his opinion on Michael Rogers’s book “Inmillennialism”.

I'd love to get a hold of William Kelly's response to Tregelles.

Shawn, You are a horrible person. Bringing on Dr. Gribben for only an hour and leaving us with a lot of "I want to know more". 😁🤣🤣🤣 Thank you so much for this broadcast. This helped to get a better understanding in some places. The ending of what are dispensations is creating a difference between what Huebner stated. But this could also have stated that Darby used Dispensationalism multiple ways. As I understand Huebner: he states dispensation would be government, law, and things to come (Millennial). But Darby is complicated. Thanks again for the interview.

Serious minds should look at the serious biographical works by Roy A. Huebner at Present Truth Publishers. Gribben references Huebner in several places. DARBY BROKE WITH THE LEGAL-CENTRIC PHILOSOPHICAL STRUCTURE OF PURITANISM. His soteriology followed the Apostle Paul, contra Christendom’s co-mingling of law and grace over the past 2000 years.

I definitely haven't read as much Darby as Gribben has, but I've read a decent amount. I think I'd label him the grandfather of dispensationalism, in the same way that Luther might be the grandfather of reformed/covenant theology

even with Darby's very different view of the Dispensations?

@RevReads yeah, I'd say so. Luther is pretty far removed from CT and Calvinism as far as his theology goes, but I think it's fair to say that it's his theology and views that paved the way for that (even though Calvin and Knox were contemporaries). Much like how Moody and Scofield were influenced by Darby

This is a serious book, not worthy of shallow questions from shallow interviewers. However Crawford, Donald Akenson, while a wonderful Irish historian, he’s not an authority on John Darby. The late Roy A. Huebner (Present Truth Publishing) is unparalleled in his grasp of JND, the PBs, and Irish history surrounding this period in the British Isles.
As Crawford points out in the book, JND’s dispensational framework bore little resemblance to C. I. Scofield’s system of “covenant ageism” (Huebner). This made American “dispensationalism” vulnerable to the hordes of Arminian “dispys.” SMH
Ok, Prof. Gribben, I’ll try and reach out to you for an informal (non-recorded) chat.

Who else on TH-cam is setting aside the time to draw attention to this book? Your petty comment is attacking one of the only people making content that even cares.

@@RevReads How many of those books behind you have you actual ground your way through? You should actually make an effort to read the book……please? I saw him give an interview to 2 self-righteous and arrogant Reformed individuals from California. They were actually disrespectful and laughing through the exchange! I’ve studied the Plymouth Brethren and JND since 1970. Darby deserves a great deal more respect. As Crawford mentioned, he was the 4th greatest religious figure since Luther, Calvin, and Wesley!

I go to a traditionally pre-millenialist church that has close ties with a bible college that has a histiry of ultra-dispensatiinalism. What is tge very best way to communicat covensnt theology ( covenant of grace, covenant of works) to the people of God around me that have been weened on innacurrate eschatologies , some fortwo to three generations?

Sounds like a whitewash of the divisiveness of John Darby and His movement. They called themselves, The Exclusive Breathern, for a reason, because even George Muller was removed from their Order.
What about Charles Spurgeon warnings about Darby's devisive teachings, that he had published news paper articles that expressed his concern that Darby was a danger?
Your explanation of Daddy's dispensational teaching is like the rest of the interview, confusing!

Can you please point to any proof of this other than a certain person claiming so?

      @@macsprinter Yes Thank you,
In June 1869, Spurgeon's article in The Sword and Trowel, on "The Darby Brethern".
In January 1872 United Presbyterian Magazine Warnings of Darby 's teaching
In December 1872, Sword and Trowel Stated that Daddy's translation of the Bible was " faulty and pitiable "
There are many sources of written articles thru out England at that time contradicting Darby, and His extreme dispensationism.

They never called themselves 'Exclusive Brethren' - they were called that, and we are still called that, by others. We take no name but Christ's.
