    Good interview. Good nuggets in here and different perspectives that may get others thinking.

    He’s been my pastor for nearly ten years and I would not take for what he’s taught me. Not to mention he has a ton of patience. I really don’t think there’s anyone who has a better understanding of scripture than him. I also think he has the best haircut amongst the preacher world for sure.

    We tend to forget about the eternality of Scripture. It speaks to God's people of all ages in part not in whole. We can learn from and be benefitted by all of it, but the epistles are mostly for the Church. Revelation and parts of Daniel and Ezekiel are for the Tribulation period. The Sermon on the Mount, parts of Isaiah, and perhaps Jesus' parables will be for believers in the Millenial Kingdom. We err in trying to interpret them to "fit" us today.

      Let me add that all the Bible has applications to every believer, but when seeking the primary interpretation, we must discern the audience first.

    We were in a small group when they found out we are dispensationalists. They ended the Bible study and shut it down. Then they started it up again and didn’t let us know. 😏 Cowards.

    Nice to see a candid review with the author who taught our family how to rightly divide! You've already had Leighton on (one of the guys wrestled me out of Calvinism), so now we have to bug BTF's Kevin Thompson to finish writing his book.

    Some of the quotes right at the end were absolute gold. My only critique is this: Even people who act out of fear think they are being rational. Instead of Christian rationality being the primary antidote for driving fear, I think it's love. "Perfect love casts out fear." Our love for Christ and for souls created in His image pushes us past fear, our trust in the Savior drives out uncertainty. This is why devout Christians often go into places others are fleeing. The recent plague was a wake-up call. Like Randy, it opened my eyes to what fear can do to people. But I think it's love, not rationality, that is going to be the mark of believers when the next event happens.

      Yup, this kind of fear happened around Paul on his last trip to Jerusalem when the saints prayed they warned him not to go. I believe this was sent by the Holy Spirit to test, not direct Paul, since that perfect love combined with the promise that he'd testify in Rome, meant that he'd be bound, but not killed. For the sake of his brethren according to the flesh, it was love that drove him on without fear for one last visit, in hopes they'd turn and repent.
      Of course, I might not be counting some overwhelming confidence he acquired, since he was left for dead after being stoned outside Lystra. As the text reads, while his companions stood around him (they knew he was dead) he got up and marched back into the city. Yikes! When I get to heaven, that may be one of the first bunch of history tapes I want to see on replay - what a trip! 😂Just to see the look on their pale white faces! 😃

    I would love to Probe Randy on his comments about using the KJV! I'm sure there's some interesting Textual Critical conversation there!
    I've used Zacheriah 4 to show that the two witnesses are Moses and Elijah because the two individuals are 'standing beside' the anointed one in zach 4, and in the mount of transfiguration, Moses and Elijah are 'standing beside' Jesus. An interesting correlation anyway.

    King James holds the floor for proper grammar. Like the difference between the prepositional phrase "for ever" and the sloppy word forever. They are not equivalents.

    So I was a trooper and stuck with this one up to the 21:32 time signature. You will allow this guy to admit "the argument is between the lines" in the bible concerning his thoughts on a future Babylon and fall of Islam, but, when Dr. Brant Pitre makes much more intelligent parallels (which is the same as between the lines as this guy says) concerning Catholic doctrine on Mary, you immediately dismiss those as unbiblical and therefore false. Why does Randy get a free pass from you ?

    • @RevReads
      @RevReads  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Because the End Times hasn't occurred so we don't have all the details. The Bible never mentions Islam at all. It doesn't even speak to it so no matter what a person's view is it is conjecture.
      We know Mary had other kids and wasn't sinless and wasn't a life long virgin. We know she isn't the new Eve cause it makes no sense and ruins the image of Christ as the new Adam. Eve was Adam's wife and not his mom. Brant was just clearly wrong time after time. And it's not stuff where we need to speculate because Jesus had brothers according to the Bible. You can keep arguing about this if you like and I'll keep pointing out Brant's obvious contradictions to the Text.

    Hate comments from Catholics Shawn ? In some of the videos on Mary that I commented on, you spoke from a position of authority when trying to explain Catholic teaching. What you were explaining was false. That is what I called you out on. That you were presenting as fact, false instruction. Now, if you don't agree with Catholic teaching of Mary that is fine, but disagree with what actual teachings are. Peace be with you
