From what I saw, it was the second line that dropped the ball. They couldn't penetrate the defense, and every time they were put out there, the momentum changed to the Aces.
Clark was tired because she was pushing much harder on defence than she did in college. She has acknowledged that her defense is the weakest point of her game. She's working to turn that around. I agree with Coach in that twice I saw where Caitlin was a little overzealous on defense and overshot, finding herself out of position. Wasn't a biggy. She'll figure it out.
I also disagree with Coach where she criticizes Clark for playing too hard. Everyone on the team should be letting it all hang out. They are professionals. They should all be playing uninhibitedly.
Maybe Coach is someone who doesn't deserve an asset like Clark or doesn't have the foresight or skill to utilize her to the team's best advantage. Coach is the one that needs to rise to the occasion. Play hard, or go home, because we won't tune in for slackers on the court.

I've given it some thought, and I think the WNBA is resurrecting an old NBA playbook, that worked extremely well for the NBA as far as promoting popularity and creating a buzz around the game. Here we have a bright sassy black girl with some mad skills and a kind of Hollywood dramatic flair... so she ends up as rivals in college basketball and faces off in the tournament a couple years in a row against a quiet girl playing for a lower tier school in flyover country... who also just happens to be a stand out college athlete... 40 years ago you would have called them Erving Magic Johnson and Larry bird and their off the court friendship and on the court competitive energy was the best thing that ever happened to the NBA until MJ came along! The similarities and the media building it up is so similar it's hard not to draw the comparison... but I think it's a super smart strategy and I hope it works as well as it did back in the 1980's!

Clark regularly played over 40 minutes each game at Iowa which was a much faster pace so far than Indiana has displayed. I think they are creating/inventing reasons to pull her out of play going forward to let other players on the floor. Go figure the same bunch of no nothings that bashed Clark's College Teammates are now bashing her WNBA ones. I have to educated those very same folks that Clark's College Teammates were Good and that Clark had a Great College Coach. They behaved as if that wasn't the case. Now that Clark has last year's 1 pick in the WNBA draft along with the previous Draft, 2 overall pick in that Draft, the Fever has the2 Number One overall picks on the same team with it almost being 3. So now, after just 1 Blanking Preseason Game, those same NON Experts about anything are again complaining. And yet they wonder why all this is such a daily Powder Keg.

Clark did fine. It is her team that is the problem. When she passes the ball to them, they cannot finish the point. They either miss the shot or lose the ball. And the coach is going to have to work with them before she loses her job. Because Caitlin is not going anywhere.

Of course she got tired. She was trying to do it all and Dallas was throwing everything but the kitchen sink at her, defensively. I still think she could have managed, but she had a mountain of pressure and expectations heaped upon her, from fans, media, teammates, her brands, and from herself. A little too much anxiety, or whatever you want to call it, can wear a person out, all by itself.

Secondly, the professional WNBA players are playing hard to get a better contract come contract time and endorsements. If they get to the top of their profession, they will be financially rewarded. Third, they take pride in their play and want to be the best they can be.

What's she's doin is awesome. It's in my opinion she's changed the women's basketball game. Almost 50% fg in a pre season game. She's only going to grow. I'm honestly hyped for all the players that got drafted this year. Caitlin to Reese and Brink there roles are goin to be similar from what they did in college but definitely a transition into the league. Also they all got a lot of love out of college so I'm sure the pros will hound all of them. I'm also routing for Kate Martin. It's really enjoyable to see players develope and become something great. I'll use the Villanova boys for example. Just hard work persistence and love of the game can really make a difference in your career.

90 percent of the WNBA players play in the Euro league when the WNBA finishes. The fact that all of the pro players were out shape just tells a different story, the only reason the Fever where still close at the end of the game was 1 Clark and her 21 points and because 2 other Indiana players were in double digit figures. Boston should have had 15 points and she didn't even go past 8. Berger should have 10 points and she only had 2. The entire Dallas bench scored 20 points compared to Indiana's 9 points. Indiana's pros failed them pretty hard.

Sure , comes with the territory but not like what she has been going through. it will die down over time. But honestly, i could see if she was gassed around the 35 minute mark with 40 minute games but 28 seems low. Nba is 48 minutes top guys are around 39 minutes (old school) and playoffs around 43 out of 48 minutes. I think so much mental crap she had can and will drain you on top of the physical element.

Sounds like it’s the rest of the team who is slowing Clark up. Listen to the entire interview and quit cherry-picking quotes. This is like a report from legacy media with half truths. She can run circles around the entire league. It’s not like the WNBA is some high level league so much more skilled than college ball. In fact, the opposite is true. Both men’s and women’s college teams are in much better shape than the pros because they actually play defense and the coaches expect 100% effort or you ride the bench. Of the two pro leagues, however, the WNBA plays defense more and the league is similar in team structure (no super teams) to the NBA of the days of Jordan and Kobe. Everywhere Clark plays, the stands will be twice as big. She’s a phenomena that the fans of bball want to watch. She may save your league, ladies.

She also got four fouls in the first half, that's why she sat out the third quarter. It was preseason, they had to play everyone, her foul trouble let them do that.
