Can’t believe the coach is airing this publicly. She needs to adjust her coaching style and not the other way around. She should consult with Steve Kerr or Lisa Bluder to get pointers on how to run an offense around generational players like Curry or Clark. Making CC play like any other WNBA stars will lose fans faster than you can say “bye bye”. CC needs to be the facilitator at all times where she can decide to shoot those logo 3s or dish out dimes for her to be effective. Coach needs to understand that the sudden interest in the WNBA is not because of the product that they put out, it’s because of CC and to a certain extent Angel Reese. I hope that CC’s psyche and confidence won’t be ruined where she starts to second guess herself on offense, all because of her coach’s short-sightedness.

Historically, the best tier 1 players coming into the WNBA from D1 all mention the strength / stamina issue. For Sides, the Fever coach, to comment publicly at this point in the season is, in my opinion, extremely poor judgement.

Why does she think 13,000 fans showed up to watch the Fever?
Caitlin brought in 13,000 plus fans when the team averaged 4,000 last season. This keeps up, Caitlin will be bringing in the coach that she wants. So, this coach better figure out a better way of coaching. Like keeping this stuff private between her and the team. And then be positive with the media.
Sides is criticizing a rookie when most, if not all of the seasoned players suck. Yes, Clark has a few things she needs to work on but Sides needs to work on her own short comings as a coach and the major improvements of the rest of the players before getting to Clark. Otherwise, Sides needs to go.

Coach Sides is an inexperienced rookie coach who is illustrating her lack of ability for the job. It is obvious Sides doesn't have the necessary skills or knowhow to elevate Clark's game. It appears she will be nothing more than an albatross on Caitlin's back, trying to shame Clark at every interview. It is too bad Caitlin, after such high hopes, finds herself in such a deprecating environment.

Her Coach isn’t ignorant in publicly criticizing Clark. She acted resentful from the very start. She made a big issue of Boston being her lead person putting Clark in her place. She has no idea how to coach a player with Clarks talent. I didn’t think she even acted at all like she was happy to get her. I like their coach less and less everytime she opens her mouth.
She needs to call Lisa Bluder our IA Coach. She is a class act and would NEVER criticize her players like that publicly.

some coaches just can't handle a 'star' player. we've seen it in every sport. when you've received a player that has broken every scoring record, male and female, MOST coaches will carry a little jealousy. if this coach makes excuses about why she wants to change CC, it could destroy the most gifted scorer ever to play ladies basketball. i would hate to see that, as would a whole lot of other fans. and it will play right into the hands of CC's haters.

There was a line in a Wright Thompson’s article about Caitlin. It went something like this - Bluder and Jensen got a huge diamond, they realised it was their responsibility to not cut it but only polish it. Sides needs to realise that people watch Caitlin because of the way she plays and if that is changed Sides will have turned her into just another wnba player. Then what? Tramp schooners instead of chartered flights? The greatness of Phil Jackson was not to change the way MJ played drastically but to add pieces around him that made him more effective. One of the challenges in the wnba is that the coaches are paid far more than the players. That makes them think they are wunderkinds. I’m not advocating the other extreme that the Lakers go to where coaches are changed like bed linen. However, if you have a spectacular player you have to adapt your coaching style to suit her/him . Else you turn him/ her into a mediocre one. I wish the Fever had a Stephanie White or a Hammon coaching them.

I have been a CC fan for 4 years. In my opinion, the Fever and WMBA will ruin her by making her play the way of the WMBA. I will not watch as large women stand under the basket, not leaving the ground and attempt layups and rebounding. I haven't in the past and will not in the future. Just me and others who have never watched the WMBA prior to CC.

CC is used to staying in the whole game…it’s not a stamina issue it might just be she was frustrated and needed to cool off…I saw her getting heated at some calls and stuff. Plus, taking a step out to watch the game and figure out what you need to do can be a good thing.
BTW: Fire Sides and hire IOWA coach Bluder! Bluder knows Caitlyn's abilities and how to get the most from her talents.

Seriously. I was just running through a replay of the Wings game and at one point, Caitlin had the ball in transition and - without moving particularly quickly - arrived at the arc with one teammated and it was a good second or two before the rest of the Fever lumbered up and got ready to play.
I think it’s the coach who should make some adjustment.
If she stifles Caitlin’s shooting, the fans will quit coming. She must know that Caitlin is the attraction, not the coach. Let her do what got her to the WNBA in the first place.

I believe in part the media and fans are also at fault for her comments that should have been private. After every practice the media wants to interview the players and coach. I think that's unnecessary and ridiculous. The media is practically forcing the players to talk and we the fans are to blame as well. Less interviews would be a good thing, perhaps just once before every game and after the game. Let the women catch their breath and enjoy themselves.

Been following CCs pre-season game. Clearly he takes a lot of 3s but tbh, the plays they run is limited and basic. I keep thinking if they only run plays ala Steph, this will truly unlock CCs game to next levels...
