Starting it over again, so much has happened in this campaign I've forgotten most of the characters. I'm looking forward to see the beginnings of Berg and Ramus again.
I really dont get the Neal hate. So annoying when people dont get that DMs are different and Neals hardcore style was quite exciting imo. I like all DMs but Steven is prob my favorite just because his talent in describing things
OnetastyJoe Yeah I agree. I liked Neal's GMing. My only complaint was that he always deferred to the rules over fictional positioning. Steven was great but I feel he went too much the other way (and also hated all crunch-heavy games). Personally I think Adam struck the best balance.
OnetastyJoe Personally I love Neal's dming. I realize his style is totally different than the other two but sometimes it is exactly the style I like to see.
+OnetastyJoe most Poeple that hate Neal hate him because they only cared about the PC. so I got a feeling that's one of reasons jp as not had Neal come back.
Oh boohoo I get something for free on youtube but I'm going to complain about free content. He's ALWAYS says you can sub for the vod but it'll be up on youtube so don't sub just for that reason. Jesus go away.
10k a month is fucking ridiculous, if he doesn't make his vods free I'm going to call him a greedy fuck. If someone hasn't subbed for early vods by now there's no reason to keep doing it.
I've only just begun watching these and I already have to say I really enjoy how Adam DM's. A skill check that is a low isn't necessarily the fault of the player, its a combination of the surroundings and possibly the other PC's. It makes it feel more natural as a storytelling instead of actions determined by dice
They didn't axe those to be able to do it. Steven is just a very busy man and it was hard to schedule West Marches, and they felt Swan Song had run its course for the time being and ended nicely where it had, and Steven was a hard player to replace.
Ceri That's not the implication I got from Steven's Twitter. Obviously he is busy but it seems like JP ended his involvement rather than the other way around.
Skipped the very first arc when I first started watching Court of Swords. Now, after what happened in episode 127, seems like the perfect time to return to the beginning and watch through the ones I skipped.
Max does often use voice editing effects when he does videos and other things, but I can assure you that most voices he does use nothing more than whatever magic fairy he trapped in his voice box. The only reason he uses editing on videos is because of it being easier on his throat.
^^b (hi adam!) havent checked it out yet due to irl things but found out i'd already been following him XD; i knew of him from twitch but i dont use youtube often outside of music so i guess it kind of skipped my mind
You should be able to, as in I know the sheet has the ability to just informing you, set on the sheet to query advantage to remove the need to explain the use first or take second.
Yay elements. I replaced alignments in my world with spiritual ties including elemental spirits and Genasi are also a privileged people in my world because of their natural affinity to the elemental magics that comprise the world. Very cool to see these commonalities.
Been looking into new Campaigns since I'm caught up on my current big 3 (The Unexpectables, Critical Role, and the Natural Wonders (but like the number one) {.....TFS at the Table if you really want to know}) and this was a nice surprise. I suppose its time for a new Binge.
Only just started to watch this, and I LOVE the fact that the beginning is very much inspired and driven by Tarot cards. I'm a sucker for Tarot cards, because of Shin Megami Tensei and Persona. Also Max. I need to see more Max in D&D stuff.
It's either Inquisition or Arbites, especially with the absolute authority and being able to kill without consequences (outside of their own order). If we see inept, cruel, or paranoid superiors it's the Inquisition, and if they're really intimidating/effective it's Arbites.
Only widely known, unlike the Inquisition whose reputation mostly exists out of rumours and ghost stories, and then only in the highest echelons of Imperial society. The vast majority of the Imperium hasn't even heard of the Inquisition.
+Emilia Gianova Kingdoms of Amalur was going to be an MMO, before, as Yahtzee put it "saw all the bones outside of blizzards cave and ran to the hills"
I dunno, I feel like WoW is like the abusive partner of videogames. People whine, complain and damn it, sometimes even gather the courage to leave but eventually they all pipe down and go back to it. And considering how incredibly dead Kingdoms of Amalur made every company involved, I seriously doubt anyone will touch it with a ten foot pole, despite how much some of us enjoyed it
I'm curious to know how Adam might feel about the dynamic lightning stuff that roll20 uses. I recently was gifted an upgrade by one of my players, and I find it (dynamic lighting) to be nice but it often ends up being a huge hassle when it will simply stop working for a player.
7 of swords is the literal worst card in the deck, at least in the Thoth Tarot, which I use. I actually recently started incorporating Tarot into my GMing so this campaign is very exciting for me. Also quite the interesting coincidence... Anyways very interested to see where Adam takes this, he's my muse, love what he does
All of the 7 in each suit is the least lucky, however swords is the worst. It is futility. It is said the 7 knows his fate, but is completely unable to stop it, no matter how hard they try.
the seven indicates a lone wolf, someone who rejects their community and runs away from trouble. shirking responsibility and hidden dishonor. a real bad apple
I'm only really familiar with the Thoth Aleister Crowley interpretation, I would love it if you made a video or something explaining how you read the Rider-Waite
anyone know why im unable to watch this video on my youtube app on xbox or cast too the app from my phone?? and its only this episode by the way i can watch the othera just fine. This isnt the first rime this has happenes with a roll play video either, any help is appreciated.
A gassy Genasi? But seriously, I like the use of tarot in this, and it looks to be off to a good start. Looking forward to seeing where this goes. Never played 5E before, or even watched it, so it'll be nice to see what differences it has from 3.5 and 4.
Heath McCasland Don't get me wrong, Day9 is a cool and funny dude. I just feel that whenever I've seen him on roleplay, he can't be serious and it tends to trivialise any story he's in, not saying it's not entertaining, but I always watch Roleplay for the narrative, in my eyes he ruins the story by turning it into a huge joke. If I haven't seen a show where he is serious and adds to the story please link it because I think he'd be able to make an awesome serious character because he's really quick and witty, I just find myself frustrated at his sort of "It's all a joke lawl" way of playing.
The Queen of Cups description seems to contradict a bit no? About being down to earth and practical, but being led by emotion and feeling? Perhaps I misunderstood.
Can someone tell me what the 'CHAR' , 'AC', and 'CON' in the character sheets mean? This is my first time interacting with this D&D? stuff so I'm not sure about most of the stuff I'm seeing. Is there a cheat sheet somewhere for all of the things I should know as a newbie?
Ah i see. Thanks for replaying! Unfortunately that means i wont be able to use it for my Pathfinder games. I't looks like an amazing feature for when you want to take the best of two rolls. (and have it look as good as that)
what stuff you use to do this me and friends want to do something like this but meeting up is hard so if we could do like you guys would make a lot easier
I think I've heard Adam say that people will talk about their signs in conversation for about fifty weeks now... and I don't think a single NPC ever has...
Has there ever been a campaign done where there are two parties, two DMs but one world and the DMs work together to bring the parties closer together for better or worse? They'll never collide in one skype or teamspeak, but the two DMs would handle any fighting or interactions by their own messaging...
Adam coleville does something like that, he has 2 parties that he controls separately and has them doing things that effect one another without the others knowing
Adam says "it's quite possible it was one of my major inspirations" in the q&a. As someone else pointed out here, Japanese magistrates also seem pretty relevent what with the whole "tax collection" thing
im new to this channel.... ive only wayched a couple videos, which campaign is the best according to all you viewers. i like this one btw. is this looking like the best compared to others?
Too early to say how good this one will be, though with Adam as gm I'm sure it'll be good. My overall favorite is Swan Song, followed by Mirrorshades. Balance of Power is a newish show that's far better than I originally thought it would be, and is shaping up to be my third favorite.
All the best to you Adam
Adam is such an awesome DM. I've been gaming since 1978, and He inspires me to new levels of creativity. A joy to watch all of you play.
Gassy's voices are always like sweet ambrosia to my ears
agree I was like holy shit what is this magic. totally into it.
Lloyd Stang cut to- Max screaming at the top of his lungs!
i feel so daunted by the size of this playlist.
Each session is 4 episodes, so really take that number and divide by 4. Still an impressive number, but not so crazy.
Starting it over again, so much has happened in this campaign I've forgotten most of the characters. I'm looking forward to see the beginnings of Berg and Ramus again.
Damn, Adam setting the bar high for DM'ing standards. Loving this already.
Welp, youtube just recommended this to me. Gotta watch the whole thing again now.
So the guy with the fire hair is the rogue and "sneaky one". This is going to be funny. Love the voice for him too.
Neal didn't steal JP's arm because he was overpowered, he just got hit with one of the worst crit things that doesnt kill you in a low magic setting.
Complaining about Neal is a Rollplay tradition.

+OnetastyJoe most Poeple that hate Neal hate him because they only cared about the PC. so I got a feeling that's one of reasons jp as not had Neal come back.
They were so bright-eyed and bushytailed.
They had no idea what this campaign would do to them - Adam included.
Man I'm so jealous. I would be so hyped to be able to play with Adam Koebel. I saw the Mage game he's running and he seems like an amazing GM.
Holy shit the patreon is already over 10k a month. You guys are awesome.
And he still wants money to watch a damn vod
Oh boohoo I get something for free on youtube but I'm going to complain about free content. He's ALWAYS says you can sub for the vod but it'll be up on youtube so don't sub just for that reason. Jesus go away.
Ceri I'm free to complain if I want to u commie.
10k a month is fucking ridiculous, if he doesn't make his vods free I'm going to call him a greedy fuck. If someone hasn't subbed for early vods by now there's no reason to keep doing it.
The entitlement is strong. People get so much free shit these days that they cry about every little thing.
I've only just begun watching these and I already have to say I really enjoy how Adam DM's. A skill check that is a low isn't necessarily the fault of the player, its a combination of the surroundings and possibly the other PC's. It makes it feel more natural as a storytelling instead of actions determined by dice
Adam is so spectacular, and Gassy's voice acting is always fun to listen to!
new Rollplay?!?! holy fucking shit is this christmas??
In July!
No because they axed Swan Song and West Marches in order to do it.
They mostly cancelled it because Steven couldn't consistently be there. Consistent scheduling seems to be the main focus of this "reboot"
Bring Back Court Of Swords
I could listen to Velimir talk for hours it's so soothing
Back at it again 🖤 I miss you guys
Man, I used to watch Gassy while he was with the Creatures. Love seeing him here.
Skipped the very first arc when I first started watching Court of Swords. Now, after what happened in episode 127, seems like the perfect time to return to the beginning and watch through the ones I skipped.
"I think were all pretty excited about our characters" :D
So velimir's voice is dreamy
Certainly quite the tone he's got!
khajiit has wares if you have coin
Max does often use voice editing effects when he does videos and other things, but I can assure you that most voices he does use nothing more than whatever magic fairy he trapped in his voice box. The only reason he uses editing on videos is because of it being easier on his throat.
What happened to Max's ability scores at 48:00 ??? Int16 Wis10 went to Int 9 and Wis 15
!?!?!?
I saw that too. No idea what happened.
Starting this 9/1/2019. We'll see how long it takes to get through.
Did you get there yet? :P
Update?
Youre bad at binge'ing
I was just going to watch a new series randomly but saw gassymexican and got hooked.
I like the mysterious race sprouting in the forest very interesting
He mentioned Alice right off... I miss Alice.
It's not about the journey It's about the frens we made along the way
If Adam is here I’m going to enjoy this.
One day I'll sit down and start watching this whole playlist
one day
Loving the sound of this world Adam, good work :D
And so we begin our tale...
Velimir - "What does a hero truly need? That is for you to decide."
I love the format - can't wait to see more.
Ah, I see Adam has Burning Wheel-ized his D&D. Cool.
Really excited for this campaign. Adam killing it as always, and a great cast!
This dude inspires me to be a better DM
Just in case you don't already know, his show Office Hours is super interesting and helpful for GMing!
oh? any chance for a link to a vod or youtube vid?
+RP Ink Look up Adam Koebel on TH-cam. His channel follows his full name.
awwe, thanks dude
^^b (hi adam!) havent checked it out yet due to irl things but found out i'd already been following him XD; i knew of him from twitch but i dont use youtube often outside of music so i guess it kind of skipped my mind
The lore of this world sounds like it was inspired by Kingdoms of Amalur Reckoning
You should be able to, as in I know the sheet has the ability to just informing you, set on the sheet to query advantage to remove the need to explain the use first or take second.
This sounds like fantasy Judge Dredd. I like it
Yay elements. I replaced alignments in my world with spiritual ties including elemental spirits and Genasi are also a privileged people in my world because of their natural affinity to the elemental magics that comprise the world. Very cool to see these commonalities.
sucks that the show is no more
1:26 I've searched and searched, and I cannot find the video where Dan plays as Seymour Boom. Can someone link it here?
YES, a new rollplay show! And on my birthday too, how did you know ;)
After seeing some gameplay of Dungeon World I see where Adam got the idea for the bonds.
Tried to find the seymour boom running joke. I sadly could not find it.
Been looking into new Campaigns since I'm caught up on my current big 3 (The Unexpectables, Critical Role, and the Natural Wonders (but like the number one) {.....TFS at the Table if you really want to know}) and this was a nice surprise. I suppose its time for a new Binge.
Whelp time to get around to watching this .
NotTryingSuccess lol same
Whoa, he sounds exactly like a Khajiit!
Was skeptical at first but this is shaping up to be a fun ride!
Tarot card themed D&D? I'm in.
oh my god Alice! i had forgotten about that amazing character
Love the old-school art. Who made it?!
Only just started to watch this, and I LOVE the fact that the beginning is very much inspired and driven by Tarot cards. I'm a sucker for Tarot cards, because of Shin Megami Tensei and Persona.
Also Max. I need to see more Max in D&D stuff.
So are the Magistrates sort of like the Inquisition in Warhammer 40k?
Sounds like it.
Nobody suspects the Inquisition.
I think they are similar to the Japanese magistrates. They were involved in tax collection, policing, and firefighting, and the judicial system.
Reminds me slightly Kingdoms of Amalur, the whole thing with fates and cards and courts etc.
Right, kind of I thought of the same!. God i wish they made kingdoms of amalur mmor or second game.
+Emilia Gianova Kingdoms of Amalur was going to be an MMO, before, as Yahtzee put it "saw all the bones outside of blizzards cave and ran to the hills"
Which tbh was a smart move. Still would be nice to see another game made along the same lines.
***** Soon we shall watch the bones of WoW, I give it 2-3 years. People are already bored with legion.
I dunno, I feel like WoW is like the abusive partner of videogames. People whine, complain and damn it, sometimes even gather the courage to leave but eventually they all pipe down and go back to it.
And considering how incredibly dead Kingdoms of Amalur made every company involved, I seriously doubt anyone will touch it with a ten foot pole, despite how much some of us enjoyed it
The Journey Begins! Part 1/382 .... guess i dont need anything else for the next couple of weeks xD
Gonna have to take an agreement on there! Starting today too!
@@Lizaylian well, than god speed and a good Journey to you too :D
41:01 I didn't know Danger sense came up this early in the show lul
I'm curious to know how Adam might feel about the dynamic lightning stuff that roll20 uses. I recently was gifted an upgrade by one of my players, and I find it (dynamic lighting) to be nice but it often ends up being a huge hassle when it will simply stop working for a player.

All of the 7 in each suit is the least lucky, however swords is the worst. It is futility. It is said the 7 knows his fate, but is completely unable to stop it, no matter how hard they try.
Using the Rider-Waite tarot, 10 of swords is the worst imo.
the seven indicates a lone wolf, someone who rejects their community and runs away from trouble. shirking responsibility and hidden dishonor. a real bad apple
I'm only really familiar with the Thoth Aleister Crowley interpretation, I would love it if you made a video or something explaining how you read the Rider-Waite
I miss Alice and I miss Neal!!!!
fuck neal, he is a terrible gm
We all miss Neal ☹️
He's a good GM. Just a bit too brutal.
neal is a great DM but he is a bit of a dick sometimes (and thats why you hate him)
crapvile
but that doesnt make him a good dm, adam is a fantastic dm, steven is a good one, neal is terrible
anyone know why im unable to watch this video on my youtube app on xbox or cast too the app from my phone?? and its only this episode by the way i can watch the othera just fine. This isnt the first rime this has happenes with a roll play video either, any help is appreciated.
About 20 minutes in and my major thought is: Holy crap I want to run this setting.
A gassy Genasi? But seriously, I like the use of tarot in this, and it looks to be off to a good start. Looking forward to seeing where this goes. Never played 5E before, or even watched it, so it'll be nice to see what differences it has from 3.5 and 4.
Am i the only one restarting this campaign
I love max so much, so excited.
Came here from Zoog's channel! I love the art for the emblem, he did a really good job! Does he make all your graphics?
finally more fantasy rollplay goodness
Is this setting created by Adam just like Steven created the West Marches? Is there anything like a rulebook somewhere?
Maybe a dumb question what video software is this?
Holy 78 parts. Wish my group had more time and we could play that often. :D
Time to be late and only now start watching this :3
Every time I see Gassy, I just think to myself, "*DOOM!*" lol. xD
Seananners as a guest star, I wanna see gassy and nanners hijinks XD lol
Please no. I hope that never happens.
Day9TV brought me here.
Heath McCasland me too
Heath McCasland Don't get me wrong, Day9 is a cool and funny dude. I just feel that whenever I've seen him on roleplay, he can't be serious and it tends to trivialise any story he's in, not saying it's not entertaining, but I always watch Roleplay for the narrative, in my eyes he ruins the story by turning it into a huge joke.

I know the show just got uploaded, but could we get a youtube playlist? I like to have the rollplay playlists in my sidebar for quick access.
I'm not too familiar with Genasi, aren't they like elemental decendants of Djinns?
The Pathfinder equivalent is the Ifreti, Oread, Undine, and Sylph.
Charles Clark-Erskine So yeah I was right. Thought so.
The Queen of Cups description seems to contradict a bit no? About being down to earth and practical, but being led by emotion and feeling? Perhaps I misunderstood.
Is the world loosely based on Malazan book of the fallen by Steven Eriksson? The gods and the deck reminded me of those books. Which is awesome
Adam has said that the world is based off the Khmer Empire of Southeast Asia, and the religion has some Buddhist influences.
also ancient hindu, the arcana minor and major of the tarot and a handful of other games, books, music and movies. /laugh
I'm just waiting for a impression for velimir
Probably a dumb question, but I take it the reference to the Fortune mechanic replacing Inspiration means you're playing 5e?
Yes
Since you are already on patreon can we finally get the episodes uploaded all at once?
Only a Mara would use a chariot.
Rollplay and Gassymexican in one video? Yes, please.
Gassy's voice is always pretty awesome, but I'm pumped for this here.
Charisma, Constitution and Armor Class
Thanks for the help
If you're talking about 5e dnd, then there is a free pdf with just the basics
media.wizards.com/2014/downloads/dnd/playerdndbasicrules_v0.2.pdf
Velimir has a 15 INT... And a +3 Int mod?
at the begining what character creation videos was he talking about?
Is there a congress of cups and a league of wands as well in this world governed by the Arcana?
nah they are all courts of tarot symbols
They're all courts somewhere in the world. Looks like swords is India inspired.
Khmer is the exact group.
interesting style of setting.
not often done and if it's Adam then it'll be good.
Wait wait.... Mara? Or Marat? Because if it's Marat, throwback to Jim Butcher Codex of Alera series
I'm kinda new to roll20, how does your macro's look to make it look like that ? (specifically for the two rolls in the table)
those are built in to the roll20 SRD sheet for 5e!
Ah i see. Thanks for replaying!
Unfortunately that means i wont be able to use it for my Pathfinder games. I't looks like an amazing feature for when you want to take the best of two rolls. (and have it look as good as that)
what stuff you use to do this me and friends want to do something like this but meeting up is hard so if we could do like you guys would make a lot easier
totally_savage try roll20 website. it's virtual table top, free to use for basic game. Google it and have fun
Looking forward to watching this show! :) Are the character creation videos going to be uploaded too?
This sounds like a Fantasy version of RollPlay Dark Heresy.
Pretty nice show, hoping to see more of this stuff :D
I think I've heard Adam say that people will talk about their signs in conversation for about fifty weeks now... and I don't think a single NPC ever has...
Has there ever been a campaign done where there are two parties, two DMs but one world and the DMs work together to bring the parties closer together for better or worse? They'll never collide in one skype or teamspeak, but the two DMs would handle any fighting or interactions by their own messaging...
Adam coleville does something like that, he has 2 parties that he controls separately and has them doing things that effect one another without the others knowing
Oh shit that sounds super cool.
Is the idea of the Magistrate inspired by Dogs in the Vineyard at all?
Adam says "it's quite possible it was one of my major inspirations" in the q&a. As someone else pointed out here, Japanese magistrates also seem pretty relevent what with the whole "tax collection" thing
yep! also the magistrates of the Dragon Blooded Scarlet Empire in Exalted
The intro information reminds me somewhat of Dragon Age: Origins and the Chantry/Circle of Magi.
im new to this channel.... ive only wayched a couple videos, which campaign is the best according to all you viewers. i like this one btw. is this looking like the best compared to others?
SF best over all Swan Song, hands down. Fantasy: West Marches.
Bonus: Mirrorshades if you're into sitcoms
Too early to say how good this one will be, though with Adam as gm I'm sure it'll be good.
My overall favorite is Swan Song, followed by Mirrorshades.
Balance of Power is a newish show that's far better than I originally thought it would be, and is shaping up to be my third favorite.
thank you both very much :)
"The Mara" Don't be lewd Adam (if anyone wants to see where Adam seems to be getting a fair bit of his inspiration go see his persona 4 playthrough)
So much Persona 4 reference!
What system of dnd is this?
5E
+SpicyStegosaurus cheers
Omg I am so far behind XD
This will take ages to catch up on!
Let do this.
