Lani's character seems to be that guy who is accidentally cool, Grant's character seems like a lovable coward, and Ben's character is just happy to be there.
Sounds like typical RPG to me.
And as someone whose entire DnD knowledge is based off of osmosis, we're happy he's there too, first useful bard I have ever seen.

Put it in the bag
The contrast between the two groups is what keeps them both individually interesting. You get the sense that they're both comprised of very different people, all with different values and ways of approaching a situation. At the same time, they both share some familiar elements, such as Eloy and Borky both being lovable air-heads, while Wake and Task are no-nonsense leaders.
Granted, The Unexpectables and TFS at the Table aren't inherently connected to one another, outside of the fact that the latter campaign's DM is a PC in the former campaign (also pretty much everyone involved in both, barring Monty, all work together fairly regularly), but there are obviously going to be comparisons drawn based on the fact that they're both targeted to basically the same audience.
These're just my thoughts that I've wanted to share for awhile.
I love how utterly baffled Zitto looked when Lani threw the tumor jar. Like that was possibility that he never saw coming. That is part of what I love about some DnD games, when the player just does something that completely throws off the DM.

The first DnD series I’ve ever watched. It’s a little past 1:30 am for me in England right now and after hearing about Kirran, Grant, and Zito leaving TFS it reminded me of Ben as well and god I don’t know why but I’m just really emotional right now. I loved TFS’s content and watched it pretty much every day for years and they all meant a lot to me as I dealt with high school, starting college, having a kid at 19, and joining the Air Force to try and provide for my little family. I know as time goes on people change and move on with their lives but these videos will always mean so much to me. Thanks guys.
As someone who saw his first episode back in high school...same man. I've changed so much, but coming back to this series feels like home. Third time listening to this series, and I intend to see it all the way through
The way Lani is moving, sweating, talking, and everything shows his excitement for this. So awesome. Reminds me of my first time playing after watching a few games.

Great stuff. If I could make one suggestion - and one that I wouldn't be surprised if you're already working on it - would be to add an overhead view so we could maybe get a better view of the rolls and the map.
It's a small thing, and the show would be fine without it (this episode was great without it), but that'd be my suggestion. Like I said, I love this and look forward to more.
I'm fine with not seeing rolls but I would like a view of the map at least. That way we get to see what they are trying to do

The main thing that bothered me is that they didn't introduce their characters to us before they began the session. Like, right before this, I was watching outsidexbox play D&D, which is the first ever session of D&D I've ever watched someone play. They introduced their characters beforehand, explained races and skills and backstories. I finished their three episodes, then got super excited when I saw in the suggestion bar to the right that TFS had finally made a D&D session, but got a bit disappointed when they didn't introduce their characters before they started. I felt like it would be better if we got to know their characters before the big quest started up.

I think what makes this awesome is the fact that they're all other than Grant decent voice actors and their ability to play their voices with their characters just makes the immersion that much cooler

Check out roll20.net. It's a virtual tabletop program that runs in your browser. Wizards of the Coast have released a few pre-made modules that are easy to pick up (for a price) and run with minimum prep.
If you go to the D&D website you can get the free versions of the rules so it can totally be started for free! If you want something a little more solid without breaking the bank the starter box is great and you can get the core books after that :D
Roll20 is a GREAT online platform

This is like my 3rd time rewatching this so great
And so began the strange, strange tail of Fish man who falls in love with a deer girl. A centaur who makes friends with a gator man. And an elf who went from inspiring circus performer to CAPTAIN OF A BAND OF MERCENARIES! I told you this story is strange.
As someone who has always wanted to play D&D, but never had the friends to play with who were interested in it, thank you for this. This is some of the most fun I have ever had with one of the TFS projects.
This was fun as hell, can't wait for the next episode. bummed out I can't make it to the streams but i'm so glad that theyre archived!
All of them are entertaining but Eloy is something special.

Agreed. I enjoy the story and characters but the gameplay confuses me to no end. Granted it won't stop me from giving D&D a try one day.
Sir Real Gaming being a part compared to playing is a huge difference, this as a podcast I listened while working is fine, butplaying is much more immersive, just yesterday I played a 5 hour game with 3 fights, the fights took about maybe 4 minutes total, my friend got startled and did a backfilp without knowing what's around her, she fell down some stairs, my character fell down twice (nat 1 both times) and landed on his ass simply by looking around, and same friend convinced a ghost to "kill" itself and it's friend, we were level 2 and we busted out laughing several times
but a huge part of it is just getting into character and the world, which is hard when you aren't the one playing, but granny is best character
Sir Real Gaming have you tried watching critical role? It’s a group of professional voice actors (voices like illidan/garra, Jaina, Roy mustang, and a shit ton more) led by GM Matt Mercer (Leon Kennedy, cor leonis) who is a fantastic GM. It’s almost like watching a play.

It JUST dawned on my why Old Lady Big Rock Mountain kept sending those rockslides...she wanted the stonkeydonk tribe to STOP PLAYING THE BONGOS! Captain had no reason to suspect Risf as he'd been sailing with them for 5 years and suddenly there's a cargo issue, despite the cargo being there and untouched? And it's Risf's third trip this day on a day-and-a-half long trip? a day and a half long ferry-ride sailing all night would be at least 400 miles assuming a slow 12 mph for 36 hours. It was never explained how Skrung could have "taken" anything with nothing was missing yet. and MAN I miss Ben so much.
As a D20 player who hasn't been around his game crew in awhile, this was a wonderful treat. Thanks y'all.
