I really love they are calling out the results now. For the podcast and those who listen but not always watch RolePlay. Thanks JP
its cos its also in mp3 format for patreaons
yea its mainly for patreons, we get the benefit as well but it was never intended for us. I don't think he reads these comments either. Never once seen him respond to direct questions.
+Irras jp doesn't but Adam is actually really good in the comments and q/a
Oh guys please stop explaining why. I just said I like it.
I cannot deal with Velimir's voice. Someone give GassyMexican a voice-acting contract!
I actually find it beautiful.
I died when dan said he had a crossbow.
Baern at 44:02 "hey why don't you wear these extra gloves --- my hands are starting to get sweaty"
Week 2's title might as well be Velimir's Bad Day. D= I feel you man, bad luck.
... also that voice. Jesus. Get a job with Bethesda for whatever Elder Scrolls they're doing next, because you'd do a *solid gold* Khajiit.
I had to freaking google to see that it wasn't literally him as one of the male khajiit in skyrim, since it said he's a voice actor at the end of the episodes...
He wasn't, of course. But maybe we can hope for *The Elder Scrolls VI: Elsweyr*?
"My friend, if we get in trouble I promise we will do our best to save you. Unlike what you did for us." XD
This is a pretty rough situation for first level characters to be in, it seems.
Well, week 1wouldn't have been that rough if they knew Baern had a crossbow on him the whole time.
Lethal Harmony I mean, 2 peasants (zombies would have been 33 exp each player and not 7) and what probably were 2 skelletons shouldn't be that Bad... Specially one and then the other... It seems it was more a case of unluck than dificulty
Can't wait till we see Zephyra's Bankai
at 56.00 itmejp says that the finesse property makes your attacks with that weapon dexterity based but in the rules it states that finesse let's you chose whether or not you use strength or dexterity for the bonus.
Page 147 of the player handbook.
He likely built his character on this misconception.
Never have I ever seen SUCH a scowly uppity Level 0 NPC portrayed as Twee before. Sheesh...
You may want to try some different GMs, my friend. Snarky NPCs are the best.
I am really enoying the interactions between the group in this campaign
44:00 For the Crossbow moment
"I'm sorry again for people that look down on Pathfinder"
Who hates Pathfinder? Pathfinder was the place to be before fifth came out! It's a solid system. Did something happen recently that makes people resent it?
+Isaac Chase i think its just because the creators "copied" dungeons and dragons and made it free or sum shit.
Actually Wizards of the Coast made the 3.0/3.5 version of D&D free with their OGL (Open Gaming License) to use the rules system for 3rd Party Copies. It's pretty much what they eventually allowed with 5th Ed rules to be use by 3rd parties to develop their own content.
Paizo (Creators of Pathfinder) were the publishers for the Dragon magazine for Wizards of the Coast back in the day. When Wizards began to work on 4th Ed, they stopped their deal with Paizo for the Magazine and announced the new system will not carry the OGL. Paizo was in a weird situation as their product along with lots of other 3rd Party companies used the OGL to produce material. So they decided to adopt a House Rules version of the 3.5 D&D Rule Set under the OGL, so that they could continue to make material.
4th Ed came out and Paizo put out Pathfinder's rule set. Lots of people love and enjoy all the customization that Pathfinder offers it's players. It gets called "Mathfinder" due to all the modifiers and situation rules that the system uses. Honestly, it's no more rules heavy than other RPGs like Shadowrun so I don't see what's with all the hate. Also, Paizo has said time and again that they encourage for homegames to make changes to the rules so that it better fits their group, just how Wizards encourages people with 5th Ed.
It's not really a "F Pathfinder!" thing but lots of people tend to look down on it for one reason or another. I personally love Pathfinder and it's always my go to system of choice. I always hoped that Rollplay would do an episode of it but I get the feeling that DM Adam is not a fan of the system at all.
Jonathan M
thank you very much for that thorough explanation!
Wish I didn't miss the live stream.
i really like the story and world built here but in week one adam said there was black smoke coming from the temple, meaning the fire happened the yesterday ( speaking as far as the players have gotten) becasue black smoke means the fire is still burning. he gives them so many clues
serious question: are the GM's rolls statistically always better?
Like they will never be under 10? cause only once out of every 9 rolls does he get below a 12.
Not just in this video. Last episode it was only once the twice the whole 4 hours.
adam just has stupidly good luck most of the time
Creatures in the DM guide have bonuses to attacks that are usually fairly strong.
Pretty sure that helps too.
SECOND TO SAY I LOVE YOU JP
What are these maps from that they use in this campaign?
Roll 20 has a map building tool, so I'd assume that's what they use.
Spoilers:
Crossbow shenanigans makes Zephyra lose temperance.
A+
I want Dan to once say "I'm wasted on cross-country"
Dan's Avatar quote xD
FIRST TO SAY I LOVE YOU JP
I thought the Fire Genasi were the ones who normally enslaved other races and disliked most other Genasi, at the beginning of the episode the little girl tells JP an air genasi to tell "his" fire genasi what to do.
This is some good shit
I thought only barbarians only got the rage ability
Question. Where did mirrorshades go?
Also, THIRD TO SAY I LOVE YOU JP.
it's fimished
Mirrorshades ended in like, March/April, and was neatly wrapped up with a finale.
Where is JP getting the Inspiration-as-disadvantage thing from? Not saying it's an unreasonable mistake to make, just confused.
Probably from Balance of Power, I think they can Disadvantage opponents with force points/critical rolls. Its an odd system and probably takes some time to get used to not using it again :)
Henry Funnell Right! Yes, now that you mention it.
Luck the feat which allows you advantage three times a day or any opponent who attacks get disadvantage.
Luck is rather strong but it can be fun. This is three times a long rest by the way
+Sam Kemp ah cool, didn't realize there was a feat for that, thanks for the info :)
I do not wish to insult your grandmother
JP plays a barbarian like a fighter. I understand that it is a racial thing, but it is strange to me for a barbarian to be so cordial.
you are racist :P (or is it classist? hm)
I mean, it is a Barbarian with 18 Dex. The high dex makes me think it is much more a finesseful person.
Yeah. My guess is JP took barbarian more for stats than flavor. Or he is playing the Barbarian as more of a Berserker than a Barbarian, since the two overlap in 5e. If it's the second then I feel it's a valid rp decision, since it's the closest thing 5e has.
Oh noes Adam, there's no "surprise round" or "free surprise attack" in 5e. If a PC/NPC is surprised they skip their first turn, and a PC/NPC can be surprised while the others aren't. Unfortunately it's buried in the manual and not well explained. :/
alot of people incorporate suprise rounds into 5e campaigns as a homebrew rule, i know mercer does it on critical role as well.
Ya Adam! take command, your the DM, you are GOD. Dont let those PC's talk over you.
How is Gassy a Rogue with 12 dex?
15 Dex, the guy with 12 dex is the Cleric.
I meant his AC being 13 I thought leather was 2 ac + dex. If he only has a plus 2 dex he needs much better armor.
Leather is 11+Dex Mod; Studded Leather is 12+Dex Mod.
I just don't think I've seen a Dnd 5th char without at least 15 ac before.
Not setting the corpse pile on fire NotLikeThis
Pathfinder has some huge problems, but they are the same problems with 3.5. Even though I prefer 5E I still use Pathfinder content but port it to 5E.
13 AC with a dex mod is pretty low..
Velimir could Worship Pelor becuase he is a Fire Genasi
Pelor doesn't exist in this setting. All the Gods are Major Arcana cards (The Hermit, the Hanged Man, the Lovers, the World, the Fool, etc.)
Or is this not 5 edition
20:13
51:51
I can't wait until there is a show with a different dm
There used to be
hola
Cover is so worthless in 5e. Meh.
