Way clever ! Like your creativity. Making what has never been made before got me into welding. You Sir...are right up there, I so enjoy your fancy "assistants." All the Best, Pete 🙂

I'm In the states, so maybe a little different for you guys, but what are the pros and cons of doing piece rate work? Can't find much info on the subject, though i've talked to some welders who make crazy amounts of money per day purportedly. Im thinking there must be a catch since I don't see anyone on yt or forums talking about it.
Good that you can tack bits like this on the pipe and fittings. For QA reasons, we cant tack anything at all outside the preps, wether it be carbon or stainless👎
That tool modification by the other peeps is just odd, man. I mean... You know that thing has a reason for being the shape it is, right? Then again, as seen with the flatness of the smaller turning handle, they might just not care. As you said. Fun! 😀
Why don’t you just buy a bunch of chain grips and extensions, then you don’t gotta worry about tacking, cutting off the piece, and then grinding your tack down.
I love seeing what people come up with for doing specific jobs. Thanks for sharing.
If you do something more then 3 times might as well make something to make it easier
