Very nice to see you out again . Wessex rig .6/0 3/0 pennel on the running ledger with big squid , mackerel , worm cocktail bait . 3/0 top snood also with big lug bait . Can be deadly for that big bass close in .
Thanks for the tip - good approach if they are about. My first goal is always to avoid a blank; then catch a flatfish, which is why you'll see me fishing small hooks and small baits most of the time. I'm OK with targeting specimens - but that's when I think my chances of catching one is high and conditions are spot on.
Great to have you back on board, love the vid YT and all on here miss your trips out n about ... clacton / walton, st oysth struggling local net drifters in tandum close to shores decimating the beach catches really is a tough time at the moment, may be you can worm a way 🎣
Thanks. I'll certainly be back that way in the not too distant future. Need to cover Jaywick and some of my sole marks further north in Essex and Suffolk.
Hi Mick, fantastic to see you out fishing again, hope all is well..The dogfest continues unfortunately atm,but the rays and hounds are showing up around the Kent coast
Yes - I've had several recent sessions in Kent and Sussex when I've had problems getting through the dog fish. Had 17 on May day and was even pleased to eventually catch a whiting!
Mate you make it look so easy (in a great way). No fancy mega long distance casting etc. It's a lesson in, just get the business-end tackle and bait spot on.
Hi Mick ... Great to see 'The sole man' ... Posting videos again ... I am looking forward to seeing what you will put out in the coming months ... John ...👍🐟🎣
Nice to see you back I fish dungie quite often we fish about 200 yards towards the point from you behind the charter boat "fairchance" have always caught more bass there than anywhere else
Good evening Michael That was a pleasant surprise, hope your well and good to see you out and about...this venue has changed drastically in recent year.. but goes to show you can still find some fish..im sure as the weather warms a good bass is on the cards..... thank you Regards.
Many thanks Michael - yes it was a bit hopeful to get a decent one this early in the 'season'. Hoping to get back to catching soles and decent bass from Thames marks soon.
Great to see you post a vid , am I wrong in thinking it's been a while since your last post . that wind would have been a bit off putting to me as an occasional angler
Thanks. Yes - its been a while, but there should be more regular posts now. I've been out quite a bit recently, now that I've got my wheels back on the road and weather is trying to improve!
is the parking free at the lifeboat station? I usually park further down and then have to walk it, that would be great if you're allowed to park there for free
30lb, unless you got very calm conditions. When rough you'll get 'shingled' when it tows and need to pull your line clear without breaking - I find 20lb braid will break. I now normally use 100lb braid as a shock leader with 30lb braid reel line.
Enjoyed your latest video, the filming is top notch, do you have a cameraman/camerawoman ? Easy going and very informative. All the very best from south east Ireland.
Good to see your vids pop up again. Good effort with this trip, but Dungie is one that awlays fishes better during darkness
Totally agree - but doesn't make good viewing. Have to light up the beach if I was to film night sessions properly!
Nice to see you back Michael love you videos nice and relaxing and few fish as well keep them coming cheers
Thanks Clive 👍

Thanks John 👍 Not too far away from 'sole season' now - have to catch some plaice somewhere that I haven't covered yet first!
I have been waiting for ages for the next episode!😁
Sorry for the delay - there's plenty more on the way, just having a problem getting them out more regularly at the moment!
Nice to see you back

Yes - the only sign I'm aware of just says park on the righthand side.

Fantastic video , what lb braid would you recommend for this type on in shore fishing ? Assuming you’re using a tapered leader as well ?
30lb, unless you got very calm conditions. When rough you'll get 'shingled' when it tows and need to pull your line clear without breaking - I find 20lb braid will break. I now normally use 100lb braid as a shock leader with 30lb braid reel line.

Another excellent video, Michael. Good to see you back.
