Eating At A Restaurant Just Feet From CSX & A HUGE Train Passes! Train Passes Between The Ohio River And Caproni's Restaurant. Both Sides Of Train And A Look At The Amtrak Train Station In Maysville, Kentucky. Close Look At 1978 Main Line Rail.
We decided to visit the CSX Ohio River Sub in Maysville, Ohio. This is an ex Chesapeake & Ohio Railway line that runs between Cincinnati, Ohio and Russell, Kentucky. It runs along the Ohio River on the Kentucky side. We ate at Caproni's with our sister and law and brother in law. Our table was less than ten feet from the tracks inside Caproni's. There are only about 4 through freights a day along with a couple of locals and the Amtrak Cardinal which only makes 3 round trips a week. While we were inside there were no trains. However, right when I was paying my bill I heard a train approaching on 160.230 and minutes later the EOT started chirping. We went outside and caught the train passing the Amtrak station and running along the river. I got one side and Mrs Tooth filmed the other. My brother in law also filmed the train but I only used mine and Mrs Tooths video.
We also see the Amtrak station. The last time that I was here it was open to the public. Now it is chained shut. A few years ago I read an article in Trains Magazine that said there was a grant for the restoration of the station. I have no idea why nothing has happened yet.
