Hello 😊, hope all is well with you. You are a talented creator, and I have enjoyed your creations having purchased a bunch of them.
I get what you’re saying about how some YTers are spending their time posting mainly negative reviews, often stating the obvious.
For many of them, that’s all they ever were or will be.
Not every self proclaimed creator can actually create, and we’ve seen that now.
I’ve learned through the years that gut instinct does stand for something and being able to accomplish something worthwhile is worth its weight in gold 😊💎❤️

There's a secret of why Red Letter Media stayed immensely entertaining and informative. When they dislike something, they stop watching it. They grew so sick of Transformers the last review Mike and Jay just tag teamed half the movie each. It is part of the reason most "blockbuster" movies don't even get reviewed on Half in the Bag, they know they won't like them and don't waste their time. They were DISAPPOINTED how typically bad Borderlands turned out to be because they thought from the review scores it would be a unique train wreck.
Anyway, if I don't learn at least six things about a movie or moving making from a review, I think it is a waste of my time. RLM always delivers on that score.

You mean like how they kept reviewing Star Trek Picard and their thumbnails and discussions kept getting more depressing after each video? Rich wanted to stop but Mike kept dragging him back in. Not that i'm complaining lol.

I've heard people complain about the Christmas release of "Nosferatu" but besides taking place at Christmas, it's a freakin' Robert Eggers film. They're looking for awards and setting him apart from the Halloween crowd. (It's also his most successful film already, and it's only been out for a week, so maybe cool it with the release timing criticism.)

I'm am glad that you immediately realized the advantages of that and now it's just how you sleep, if you had woken up and been like eh that was overrated *backtocrapsleep* bro I would've been like WTFFFF
Nothing I can say will even get you to understand how much I wish I could sleep for even just 4 hours in a row.
    Well, I'll try.
Here's a good successful night sleep for me. Like, a realllyyyyy good one that happens once every time 4 planets align together.
*sleep 3 hours, wake up, tired enough to fall back asleep within 10-15 minutes, get 2 hours sleep*
    That's it. That's the best I've had for...uh
...well, so many years now, that I've completely forgotten how old I was the last time I slept for 7-8 hours in a row.
Normal nights i wake up every hour and a half and it takes 30 minutes to get another hour and a half.

I'm pretty much the same way, although much of it is because of the nightly dialysis I have to do. Every 85-90 minutes I wake up needing to go to the bathroom and since my dialysis machine is too far away,I have to use one of the jugs to go in. Then after that, the solution refills into my stomach and I hurt for about half an hour, finally get back to sleep and the cycle repeats itself five times and finally the machine loudly states, "your treatment has concluded, please sanitize your hands, put on gloves and disconnect" which no matter how deep in sleep I am, wakes me up. so once that happens and I disconnect, I finally get maybe 2 hours of good sleep. It's gotten so bad, I randomly skip nights of treatment because it gets too rough. Oh yeah, I forgot the best part, the way it dries me out and causes unbearable charlie horseing for about half the night, that's when you really start cursing not being able to sleep because then at least you wouldn't feel it. Tonight is another skin night because I was up all night with my right leg looking and feeling like special effects of someone with deformed legs that would be portrayed like Forest Gump running away from some bullies.

Part of why I love the Army is because of my almost superhuman ability to sleep on command. Most soldiers don't actually have sleep problems, they just suck at maintaining a sleep schedule and the Army certainly doesn't help but if you get 6 hours a day and take a mid day nap you will be golden.
Critical Drinker didn't start off as a YBZ knockoff, weirdly enough. He started off as a Spoony knockoff. Watch his old Final Fantasy 8 review, you'll see it. He has since developed his own style but the bottom line, won't achieve true greatness as long as he's fighting this largely imagined culture war.

When most of them hear two arguments in favor of their side, a well thought out argument and the dumbest thing you've ever heard, they don't have the discernment to tell apart their merits--only that both arguments must be good because both reach the correct conclusion.

often i find it helpful (trollful?) to point out that most artistic endeavors have always skewed towards woke. it's just that, pre-social media, ppl who complained about it were relegated to the fringes of discourse & we called it political correctness. but because of the outrage-driven algorithms we now suffer under, those fringe ideas are now mainstream & mass-conformity dictates that, unless we fear the woke boogeyman, then we must be gay or whatever. a very similar thing has occurred with flat-earth & other conspiracies.
there have always been good & bad movies, it's just that only the good ones survive history & nostalgia does the rest.

An individual that purposefully goes out and finds only the worst possible things to whine about by pretending to either, saw a movie, read a comic, or watched a television show. This is a generalized statement that can be attributed to both the SJW and the anti-SJW (aka Birthday Party Clowns) crowd. They all sound the same, there is no contrast, just a juxtaposition to the point where any one person, looking from outside - in, cannot really differentiate between the two. And when you call them out with any kind of legitimate criticism, they get angry, they seethe, and they’ll accuse you of ‘If you’re not with me, you are against me’. And I’m like, ‘jeez, stop being so negative all the time.’ 🙄

The unsubscribe moment for me was the 6888th division video, it's one thing to criticize a movie about US service members in a war, it's another thing to say they don't deserve their story being told because "it's boring" "does this really need to be a movie" no, that was just too much disrespect to tolerate. Drinker may not have meant it to come out that way, but that doesn't matter, that went too far.

I actually believed you about Drinker faking the movies because of something odd I noticed in his recommendation of Godzilla Minus One. I loved that movie, and I was looking forward to him discussing several important themes of that movie: choose life, don't trust the government, the ordinary people must band together and defeat the enemy. It's a "found family" kind of story, a redemption story. He touched on none of those themes, which was odd.
Not only that, I was curious to see what his take would be on a characterization flaw that a non-birthday-clown reviewer took issue with: the main character being a little *too* hysterical. The reviewer (Alachia Queen) thought her impatience came down to culture, as she's American. My Bahamian father independently agreed with her point (he saw the movie with me). This particular flaw lends itself to an "anti-woke" complaint, if one is focused on "anti-woke." Especially the scene where the main character's female friend, seeing Godzilla for the first time, stayed calm enough to save the main character, who fell apart even though he was seeing Godzilla for the THIRD time in person. Again, Drinker never mentions this. I was so mystified by his failure to engage with any of these points that I ended up drifting away from the channel, as there was no "meat," just surface level talk.
So when you said he was faking reviews of movies where you have to go to theaters, it clicked. It made sense. Hence my lack of protest in your salvos against him. My two cents, anyway.

I like watching the reviews, but I want to hear more technical and meta talk. Drinker et al are better at it when doing a panel format. I find that more entertaining than the individual reviews. I'll put on EFAP for background noise, and even if it kinda sucks sometimes, I like the level of detail they can get into. RLM is dependable for good criticism, but they have had stumbles related to only knowing a surface boomer level of a property. They critique fans of something without knowing what the fans know.
I don't like physical comics. I don't hate them, but they just aren't my bag. But I love hearing knowledgeable people talking about what they know.

Except that the BPCs don't create anything* (Drinker is an author, but it feels separate from his YT persona - which is maybe a good thing?), and they want everything destroyed.
As much as I dislike modern comic, TV and movie writers; They were hired, and they create. They have skin in the game. I wish more time was spent criticising executives and publishers (and uninformed investors) because that's where the problem really lies. But I also understand that someone's name on the cover of a book or on the poster of a movie makes them the target - not the producer.
You and the BPCs all started in the same place. But I grew up. I don't have time to watch movies I *know* that I wont like anymore, and I don't have time to watch reviews of movies I have no intention of seeing... Don't get me started on 5-hour podcasts of circle-jerking negativity. It's not funny, it's not fun. It saddens me to realise that a lot of the TH-camrs I like(d), didn't grow up with me.
