Yea that's gotta be one of the best cliff hangers ever. Mikami counting down the seconds with that choir singing in the background, then everything goes silent and Light claims victory. Shit gets your heart racing.
The successor who would've made a fresh and interesting competition to Light was Mello. Although, I love Near (he was much better in the manga) but he tries his best to think like L too much (due to Wammy House brainwashing lol) that Light can easily predict his movements. Meanwhile, Mello, who was completely fresh and the extreme side of L's risk-taking attitude--It was new to Light and Light got stressed by him with only ONE move. ONE. Imagine if the authors focused on Light vs. Mello. It would have been chaotic asf lol.

@@slimbrady6691 I am aware of this but the first meeting of Light and Near, Light wasn't as stressed compared to when he sees how Mello works. I am not comparing both but I think that if the show gave importance to Mello more, it could have been thrilling.
Near is smarter than Mello, Mello is also very rash. Light would have dispatched him easily.

The biggest mistake Light made was killing Lind L. Tailor and that most certainly was his own.
@lalrivunga hnamte The fuck does that have to do with anything I said? If Light doesn't kill Lind L. Tailor, L doesn't figure out he's in Kanto. That was his biggest mistake by far. It doesn't matter what he wants, it was a mistake.
I think one of the reason why Light didn't take Near or even Mellow seriously is because of the pedestal he keeps L on to this day. Thinking that no one but L would be able to play the game with him as well. Maybe it's why he even became so cocky. When L was alive, he managed to surprise Light so many times. While with Near or Mellow, it seems to be just frustration and annoyance. Own personal opinion.
Kinda agree, Mellow and Near are annoying af, while L was actually an interesting character.
Exactly. The creators wanted to show that Light's ego was his own downfall. He became more enamored with his battle with L and got cocky, and that played a huge role as to while he was defeated.

4:45 Is one of my favorite things about the ending. Near smiled like that because when he took the mask off, he saw Ryuk, therefore he knew he had the real notebook and had won.

Guys, I recommend watching Death Parade after this. It's only 12 episodes and it's done by the same studio as Death Note and with a similar feel to it, imo. Also, there's a very cool Death Note easter egg in episode 11. Just a suggestion, but I think you might like it. Can't wait to see you react to the finale. It's such an awesome ending!

Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood is a good suggestion, but here's another one. "The Rising of the Shield Hero." But choose the one the fans want more, you won't be disappointed with Fullmetal Brotherhood NOT to be mistaken with the 2003 anime Fullmetal Alchemist which came out before the manga was completed.
Jujutsu kaisen is a new anime that’s gonna start airing on october. I recommend watching it when new episode are coming out!

Light has taken a lot of gambles since ep 1. This is his usual behavior
not true, he never relied on anyone else until he was forced to in the earlier episodes of the show
yeah he didn’t really gamble as Anthony said they were very calculated maneuvers, at this point light feels like near is just too low rated to compete with him therefore he doesn’t even calculate or is barely even calculating

He gambled when killing fake L. When he killed Ray and definitely by telling the wife he was kira and that he worked for L. When he gave up the death note and put everything on wearing his watch AND that he was gonna be able to hold the death note. I think it was a gamble if Rem would kill L, Rem said he would kill him if Misa's life span shortened but she didn't. Giving the death note again to some rando dude twice. He even says maybe god is on his side, he knows he has the devils luck. He has always had more info than everyone else. Even L told him he should always count on something else being hidden from him, but he took it as an insult because he knew he only wrote 3 letters.
