It's impressive how responsive those people on the street have been there to your photography. I can't imagine that the folks here in Germany would do a peace sign rather than hiding their face behind there hands or something. I love your videos, they've been one reason to start photographing and ordering a X-T20.
Damn, that 3rd person perspective with the 360 cam is super genius!!! I might try that out with my Theta V someday but it will never be that smooth... On another note, I love the look of the 16mm on fuji! Just a tad wider than 28mm FF but I kind of like that. Love this 5:06.
Hi Andrew! I’ve been shooting with the X-T30 for a couple weeks now, with the 16mm f2.8 and the 23mm f2, and have really been enjoying it. I was surprised a little how much fun it is to shoot with, and how accessible it being so small makes it. Awesome video, I feel like it captured the experience I’ve been having so far!
Excellent as always. I’m very tempted by that cute little 16 2.8 so look forward to your further comments on it. Thank you for taking the time to do this 💐😃
Really enjoyed this video and once again some great street photography. Loved the trash can shown around the 5:30 mark. Always a pleasure to follow your channel. 👊👍
Sweet! I just got the X-T30 for Christmas. I've only been shooting film for the past 2 years and it's been really great getting back to making some digital images.
Great photos - as always! Love your work! I also like the 360-camera-thing (even though the longer parts provoked a tad motion sickness in me :) ) - it feels like being on the streets together with you in stead of "watching" you! Thanks!
So impressed with the 360 idea. Thought it worked really well. Nuts how you can film yourself actually getting the shot which is great for street photography videos. XT30 looks like another little gem but I'll stick with my XT20 for now...
Hey Andrew, that was a really enjoyable film. I liked the InstaOne view of the world. My wife and I were married in SF, so it was great to see a walking tour of downtown, we must get back there one day. I watched fullscreen and a couple of times when you were close to storefronts I felt a little motion sick! But otherwise, I loved it. I particularly enjoyed it when you allowed the ambient audio to leak through the music. Great work.
How long ago? I'm willing to bet that it's a very different place, depending on how long. :) I got motion sick making this as well. I've learned some things that will make it smoother next time.
It's nice to see people coming to the city and enjoying themselves. I've been working here for 9 years and come to hate it... I should try and be touristy more often
Touristy won't help you like it any more. What you should do is take up street photography. For me it's the observation of people that matters. It's less about the city. Sure, SF provides an interesting background, but all that really matters is that it's hundreds of thousands of people in a very compact area providing hundreds of opportunities to capture fascinating moments. This has very little to do with tourism.
Great video! I noticed that in your street photos, you continued walking while you took some of the shots. How do you keep the subjects sharp and not motioned-blurred? What is the shutter speed that you used?
In good light, I shoot at 1/1000 so I don't have to stop. When the light goes down, I ride the shutter. When I get below 250 I have to hold more still.
i hope you can help me, your shooting at wide focusing mode with eye and face detect on? on shutter priority?. because i really want to do that kind on street photography. feels like a point and shoot without having to stay on one spot for too long to be noticed or too long to focus on a subject.
No. It introduces rolling shutter which distorts movement. I would never recommend electronic shutter for street photography. Things are moving too fast
Yo dude! these shots are lovely! I just did a review on the 16mm 2.8 as well! I love this lens too. I hope you shoot in London sometime would love to shoot with you
I actually really enjoy the missed focus in this video. It has a very artsy quality that only the best videographers can replicate - - and only the youtubers who truly understand real art can appreciate. 9/10 should miss focus again.
Loved the third person view! As someone who loves street photography but is terrified of taking photos of people this was really helpful to be able to put myself in your shoes and just see how you did your thing. I don't do video and am sure the X-T30 will be perfect but sometimes it's hard to be sensible and not aim for the flagship. Now I just need to decide on what lenses I'll start with...
Also just bought a T30 and wanted to switch from my mFT system...but the IBIS is really the think which will keep me with the mFT and I will sell the Fuji gear...
@@CmonSoundz that was my primary worry, and while I haven't missed IBIS yet I'm sure I will at some point. I'm mostly using the excellent 18-55 which is stabilised which helps. Hope in the future Fuji doesn't keep IBIS only for the X-H1.
I havn‘t sold any of the 2 systems yet, I am still not sure...I really like shooting with the pancakes, specially with the 20mm 1.7 or Fuji 28 2.8...but this round goes to mFT because of the IBIS...also I like the 14-140 or 18-135, and the Fuji is quite a lot bigger. Picture qualität goes to Fuji of course, but not by much, so I still don‘t know what to do ;-)
I love this style of POV street photography and that 360 camera worked out way better than I guessed it would. You got some great shots. Thanks for sharing.
I just picked up this camera and lens this year. If all works out well with travel later, I might get to try my first street photography next vacation.

For instance, normally I would pause and do more "fishing" style shooting, but I was conscious of the Insta360 picking up me doing nothing and felt a need to press on and an urgency to get shots. I'm considering getting the X-T30, mostly for its manual controls and the famed film simulations. Did you process from RAW files, in LR, using LR's replicas of Fuji film sims? Or did you tweak in LR after shooting jpegs with the film sims in-camera?
My kinda video, Andrew ;) . This will be my main approach, when I start my channel ;). Really nice shots, as usual, specially on that tunnel/underpass. PS: I was about to ask exactly that.. _ is it worth doubling the focal distance with 2 lenses? I mean... I probably won't get this one.. as the f1.4 really fills my 'heart' :P . Perhaps the 50mm f2, instead of the telezoom?
Hey andrew, i want to ask something to you. currently i'm planning to buy a fuji film camera and stuck to choose between fuji xt-2 or xt-30. so which one u gonna recommend me for semi-professional use(?) how about their hand grips? i interested in fuji xt-2 weather resistant and d-pad which fuji xt-30 doesn.t have. thank's a lot. nice idea for using 360 camera in this vid haha
I have a X-pro2 but I'm looking for a back up camera for it. XT2 and XT30 are the cameras I'm looking at. With your knowledge on both of these camera's. What would you recommend?
You appear to be filming the intro in some sort of time-warp late seventies-early eighties motel room from out of a long-forgotten B movie. Where is this?
hi. i bot FUJIFILM XF 16mm f/2.8 R WR Lens today. but i dnt have a Fuji camera. which i am planing next mnth. my que is wen i rotate the aperture ring of this lens i dint see aperture blade closing or opening like annual lens. is it normal or something wrong with it. Is it only work wen connected to camera. pls help.
I have an xt3 and the 35mm I do some street photography and travel. I was thinking of adding the 16mm 2.8 to my current set up would you recommend this over the 18-55? They r both in thesame budget range for me. Would the 18-55 at 18mm be the exact same thing as just the 16 prime ?
You can learn a lot by shooting prime on the street. I often recommend primes for newer photographers as it forces you to think harder about composition. However, if you're more experienced and you don't have trouble seeing the full scene, a zoom is much more flexible on the street and I often prefer it. But then, again on the other hand, when you don't have the option to shoot telephoto, sometimes it can hone or narrow your vision and help give focus. In short, I can't answer that for you. Just depends. Best of luck :)
The best street photography video I've seen in a while. I could watch this all day. Also, beautiful pictures man.

I was thinking the pancake lens, this one, and maybe the cheap tele lens you got the other day. A nice X-T20..or even one of the A series cameras...and him and my sister in law should be good..huh?
Perhaps the 50mm f2, instead of the telezoom?
I have this lens rented right now for my daughters bday weekend. Hoping to do some street photography with it.
Hey andrew, i want to ask something to you. currently i'm planning to buy a fuji film camera and stuck to choose between fuji xt-2 or xt-30. so which one u gonna recommend me for semi-professional use(?) how about their hand grips? i interested in fuji xt-2 weather resistant and d-pad which fuji xt-30 doesn.t have. thank's a lot. nice idea for using 360 camera in this vid haha
how is your focus / af set up when shooting from hip? great capture at 7:40
Small area Zone focus, af-c, face detect on. I never used to face AF-C, but now I do. Technology has come so far.
It felt like I was staying in the oldest motel in San Francisco. Pacific Heights Motor Inn. :)
Love that smart phone on the table!
Great video as always. Ever thought about narrating your process as you do a street session (although some of that I can infer by your editing)?
What is that strange tan thing with buttons on the table?
😆

Insta 360 X. Link in the description.
awesome awesome video. thank you.
Are these images SOOC?
They are Acros and Classic Chrome Fuji profiles with very small curve adjustments applied to the RAW.
Loved the technique with "I don't speak English"! Thanks!
