  • The new X-T30 may not be Fujifilm's flagship model, but it arrives with some very impressive features and specifications. Chris and Jordan have been shooting it for a few days and share their first impressions, along with a look at an iconic new building in their hometown of Calgary, Alberta.

    I'm very glad DPReview hired Chris and Jordan to produce these videos. I have watched every one of them and the professional quality is as good as it gets! Excellent commentary, post production video editing, and everything else. Amazing job guys! Oh and the quick and funny bits at the beginning are excellent.
    I'm going to upgrade from an X-T1 to the X-T30. Amazing features and value for the dollars. Definitely a home run for budget minded enthusiasts like me. Thanks again DPReview, Chris and Jordan!

    These are the best videos ever. I love how you talk about cameras, and I love how you're constantly switching locations instead of staying in one spot. It REALLY adds to the quality of the video. I can tell you put a lot of hard work into these reviews. I also love how you're somewhat whispering because you're in a library. You could totally make an ASMR chanel making reviews of cameras.

    Very cool. Great job guys. I had handled an X-T20 and the grip was the most negative aspect for me, so it's nice to see they are improving on that. Nice to see Fujifilm not holding back features for the sake of holding them back to fit a tier of camera.

    • @Fabio-rg9nv
      @Fabio-rg9nv 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      In my opinion, like it was with the X-T20 and X-T2 already, the difference in features and possibilities is way smaller than the difference in price, which I find quite amazing. I think that's partly how they brought me into their system because I bought the X-T20 a little over a year ago. Now I'm about to buy the X-T3 as my main camera and keeping the X-T20 as my second more portable camera, so I can finally sell my older system I kept as a backup. :)

    • @spritual_enlightenment
      @spritual_enlightenment 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Me too. It was too small and slippy. I hope X-T30 is different.

    • @monster410
      @monster410 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't have an x-t20 but I saw that bigger grips can be bought online on Amazon for example. Maybe this would suit you and resolve this problem of small grip.
      I also have big hands and I shoot on a Canon 6D so I am also worried the grip of the new x-t30 may be too small. I hope accessories with bigger grips will get out as well ^^

    • @marciosilva5697
      @marciosilva5697 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    So refreshing to watch after slogging through the 101 ways Canon just fubar’d its lower priced model, the RP. I feel like Fuji could’ve taken more out of this camera and I’d still have been okay with that. The RP is dry carcass that’s had just about every piece of meat scavenged off it by corporate vultures. It’s price is low, but every little bit of excitement has been stripped from it once you go through the details closely. The Fuji X-T30 is exactly how you segment a lower model. Everyone at Canon should be able to fire the coworker sitting to the left of them at precisely the same time on precisely the dame day.
    Also, I like seeing you handle the camera Jordan because you’ve got big paws like I do and it’s much easier to tell how it’s going to fit in my hands. You both do an excellent job. Thank you!

    • @dasaauto2024
      @dasaauto2024 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It might “fully articulate” but does it easily tilt up and down from the normal position? Or do you have to full articulate the screen out to the side and articulate it 180 degrees to its facing you again? (While also looking like a tourist with a goofy flappy display that also doubles the width of he entire contraption.) I don’t think anyone that’s been shooting for more than a few years (i.e. has experience under their belt) wants these flipping fully a-flapping circus act LCDs. It seems to be the “vloggers” instead, who seem to have appeared overnight en mass.

      @@dasaauto2024 If you've seen the X-T100 screen, then you'd know that it has the ability to both tilt up-and-down in landscape (same as the X-T30 here) AND flip out externally as fully-articulating. It's a feature a lot of people have already appreciated. Yes, even those who have "experience under their belt". We all quite like our options 🙂

    • @brois841
      @brois841 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@elleporidae exactly... considering it comes on a lower-end X-T100, I was REALLY hoping for that feature. Between that and IBIS (or at least EIS like in the X-T100), it would really make it the most perfect/versatile camera for so many people. Maybe in the X-T40?

Biggest shame is now the 3 axis screen, (everyone talks about having a flip out screen for vlogging, if you know how to focus and now have face detect, why do you need to distract yourself with a screen) and the 2.5 audio port, that drove me insane on the X-T1 and was glad to be rid of it on the X-H1!

      I used an old Steadipod. It's a monopod with a counterweighted base. www.steadipod.com/
      We didn't have enough time to float a gimbal, and I couldn't use a tripod in the library, so it seemed like the best compromise.

    how about comparing the Xt-30 with the A6400?

      This is exactly where I’m at. I’ve done so much research on the two and I’m leaning towards Fuji bc I think overall it takes sharper images/videos. The thing that is stopping me is it’s lack of a flip screen and 10 minute 4K limit (or 1080p for 15 minute time limit.) I think there are ways to easily work around this like this video suggests but I’m just not sure.

    I know it was mentioned that previous models were a little sluggish to turn on the EVF when you put the camera up to your eye. Any feedback on this with the new model?

    Looks like a nice camera to try out the Fuji system. Does it have the focusing aids of the X-T3? Split screen and what do they call it the fresnel or what ever that I remember from the film days

    Damn if fuji would put IBIS in the XT3 and XT30 I think they might steal a lot of GH5/G85 shooters.

    @10:55 do you prefer the f2 versions of the lenses Chris? I played with a charcoal silver model today at Cameraworld, London. Could you tell me what wrist strap are you using / find the best? Thanks

    •  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mahesh Gogtay It’s a:
      gordyscamerastraps.com/collections/wrist-straps
      They are handmade and really, really great but they do need a bit of usage before they become “soft & comfortable” or just a bit of leather conditioner or cream the first time you use it and you are ready to go, it’s by far my favorite brand (cheap, last forever & they look awesome)

    Love to see your videos Chris. Still no flippy screen. grip is too small, but Fujifilm is so awesome quality. Like Tiffany's in 9/10 scale. Always loved their build. Now give me a grip and and side flippy screen like Canon, and life is grand.

    This is super exciting, at least in my mind it stomps all over Canon's RP launch! As a professional photographer who has been considering a nice walk around body for casual use with some ultra fast manual lenses, this HIGHLY interests me!

    That Q bump annoys me the most when I got the X-T2 and X-H1 to the point where I regularly wear gloves to stop calluses/soreness on my thumb as I'm a back-button focuser. Not sure why this 'feature' has been added to the X-T30... better grip?
