As a German, I just want to say how fucking relieved I am.
It really feels like a heavy weight was lifted off my shoulders after a month.
After the jury votes, I thought there was no way for Lord of the Lost to still win, but we saw the one chance we had and RAN with it.
I saw so many people vote for them on multiple SIM - cards, because it was our best option and the only way to beat Ikke.
They got 40% of the total possible televotes, which is INSANE.
I'm just so happy we didn't send a problematic guy with an embarrassing song to Eurovision, but instead a really likable band with a song we can finally be proud of again after so long.

What a glow-up in every sense of the word. After seven million years, Germany is finally sending us something. It's a pity though that they still shy away from singing in their language, especially in a genre that's a perfect fit for it.
I have to wait to see the rest of the entries, but currently, and I can't believe I'm about to type the following word sequence, Germany is in my top ten 😮. If this were sung in German, I would've placed it even higher than I do now.

I think they are going go be epic on the big Eurovision stage. If juries consistently put them somewhere in the middle of their ranking (last night most juries had them somewhere midtable) and they can rake in enough televotes they could end up left hand side of the scoreboard I think. It's not unthinkable they could creep in the top 5 of the televote. Juries can't mark it down too much, these are true professional rock musicians with like 15 years of experience behind them..they know what they're doing. I think the singer's voice sounds really good. Deep, love it. The lyrics are quite good..the duality that lives within us all and we make a choice everyday about who we are. It's done in a very clever way. You can sing along it's not too dark or heavy handed to balance out the heavy music...it's still melodic. They look fantastic. The singer gives a masterclass in stage presence. Juries need to consider those qualities too. Or else they serve no purpose. Televote wise the Nordics are definately voting for this. I can see Australia going for this as well..if Australia qualifies then I think their entry could be considered the same-ish music style wise with a more accesible look so that's something to factor in..however Germany has the camp we love to see and visually stands out more. I have a good feeling about this one. I think we might be looking at the renaissance of Germany at Eurovision. I grew up in the 80's and 90's...lookwise it reminded me of the new wave bands from the 80's like Sigue Sigue Sputnik and the lot but also the leather and spandex of the rockbands before grunge took over. Like that type of arena rock meets new wave glam meets David Bowie meets 70's glamrock meets German heavy metal. I think it will have cross generational appeal because of this. I love it. This went straight into my top 10.

It's a dream come true to see my favourite band,my biggest passion and love in life, going to Eurovision!🩸🖤✨️Thank you so much for your lovely reaction!🫶So many of us Losties have been working so hard and sacrificed everything for winning this national final of Germany TOGETHER - and this is what makes it special: This wonderful band and their fans are ONE,united by being kindred spirits and sharing the same passion for something that is so much more to us than just "music". LORD OF THE LOST are together as a band since 2009,so they're already an experienced live band who played countless festivals and tours all over the world, and they originally emerged from the German Gothic- and Metal-scene!🖤✨️ Even the metal legends IRON MAIDEN chose LOTL to go on tour together with them, which is another proof for the thrilling quality the guys deliver - and this year they were chosen to go on tour with Iron Maiden again! Lord of the Lost's genre can't be described with words,as they have always been known for reinventing themselves on every new album - but their magical soundscapes often include Dark Rock and Dark Metal,Synth,80's vibes,Goth and a flamboyant Glam attitude! They're able to set heaviness and catchiness to music, but at times emphasize melancholy and emotive depth a lot. Singer Chris Harms is known for his outstanding vocal range that enables him to deliver both haunting clean vocals AND obliterating growls, and you would be mesmerized to see the variety in all of their songs! Beyond that,Lord of the Lost have always said that EMPATHY is their religion - this is why the guys always speak up against grievances in society and helped people in need countless times. Just recently they took a stupid hate comment from someone who wanted to spread negativity online, and printed it on a new merchandise collection - and you know what? All money they earn with this collection will be donated to an organization that works on the reforestation of the rain forest! These five guys are just the most lovely, humble and caring human beings, and they deserve ANY success in this world and all love they can get from the Eurovision fans!💕✨️ "Blood & Glitter" is an irresistibly catchy anthem of life and equality, telling us to embrace the contrasts within ourselves rather than denying who we are,and emphasizing that unity should be our purpose instead of hate and seclusion: "We are all from the same blood". Now we as the Losties will give our hearts and souls to achieve a great Eurovision result together with them, and I'm sure outstandingly creative musicians like them deserve the TOP 10 - especially because they will enhance the staging once more for Liverpool! Their music might be dark and enigmatic, but the message behind all of this is pure love - I'd absolutely recommend you to listen to other of their songs such as "Morgana", "Black Halo" and "Priest",as they usually blow away all people who delve into their back catalogue. Thank you so much again and let's enjoy Eurovision 2023 to the fullest!✨️🖤🩸

But I could not properly describe what it is that makes this performance so great. You pointed out the small and tiny things like the fact that he "goes down" and that he is very good with the camera etc. Also you pointed out that they know what they are doing - which is probably why I like their performance so much. In the end you mentioned that it may even look more amazing with proper lighting and a bigger stage. I cannot agree more. This shows a little bit in their official video which has of course the perfect lightning (but not really a stage). Would love your reaction and thoughts about their official video to be honest.

Apart from the assumption that many may have just voted for LotL to prevent Ikke, LotL also have a lot of fans - and they did get a lot of support from other rock/metal bands, for example Eisbrecher, who told their fans to vote for LotL. Last year LotL and a metalcore band called Ellectric Callboy applied for the ESC National Final - and as we know they didn't made it. LotL kept quiet about this, but EC made it public - which resulted in a huge shitstorm. Germany learned from that. I guess a lot of people listening to Rock and Metal voted for LotL to be at least represented once in Eurovision (and yes, there are still a lot of Rock and Metal fans who dislike LotL and think it is shit). But like I said, I guess this wasn't really because of "Nobody want's Ikke".
I hope they will do well in Liverpool. but they have already achieved something that no German act has managed for a long time: thanks to them, many people have rediscovered the ESC. Germany doesn't bother to arouse anticipation for the ESC, LotL have done this all by themselves. As a german I always rolled my eyes when somebody spoke about ESC, this year I started to realy look into it and I really start to love ESC. When I leave the German perspective, I realize what a wonderful show it is - I find it unbelievable how much effort other countries put in beforehand (e.g. melodifestivalen). Our national final itself arouses no desire or anticipation. We could have a Song like Tattoo and nobody would care. I really hope this will change in the future.

yea it can be really frustrating when youre country isnt making a proper effort for a long time - trust me i understand cos im from ireland and we are the worst right now.
it doesnt have to be every year, but definitely its more enjoyable when your country is sending something quality which has the country's indentity so you can be proud about it and show off the culture. this is the first time germany has done this in ages

@@ESCTom Oh yes, and I really hope this year it won't be 0 points for uns. 11.-19. place would be great - and this would show the people who organize our ESC stuff that an act like this is great for eurovision. My biggest fear is that Lord of the Lost won't do well and Germany then just goes back to "normal".
But Ireland has so many great artists! One of my favourites is Primodorial (maybe not the best choice for Eurovision though :D). Is there a debate in your country about how to become better at Eurovision it is just like Germany in the last years and nobody really cares?

The bookmakers usually know very well who is at the top at the end. It will definitely not be the German contribution. Current status positions 24.

OMG, whatever the result, as an ESC fan i am just so relieved that Ikke didn't win. Really gutted that Frida Gold had to withdraw - that was my favourite, kind of up there as a German language contemporary of S10's Dutch entry last year. . As for Lord of the Lost - unfortunately I just find this really, really dated. Glam rock works best when it is accompanied by a sense of self-irony or parody but there just doesn't feel to be any of that here at all.

I'm just incredibly happy we'll send a band that is charismatic and bright and will represent us very well. Even if they don't make top 10 as long as they have fun and some people remember them I'm happy

Germany decided to not send a bad song as revenge for last year and the electric callboy story (Not radio-friendly enough). I think best place will be 15 - 20 because of the jury. But I don't care, I love this song. I think the stage will be on fire like on a Rammstein concert ;)

JUSTICE FOR BLACK SMOKE!!! I'll never understand wtf happened there. I think if the voting had been split out it would have done decent with the juries at least. I know Poland and some other countries did great in televoting, but getting nothing from the juries ended up dropping them into the depths.

@@carstenfrank3612 Definately not. This song creates opinions and therefore votes. It's not going to win, but it's a left side of the board-candidate. Rock tends to do meh with juries, but well with the audience if executed right and this song has every opportunity to create a huge memorable flashy show. It won't come last, the scandinavian countries will definately vote for us. However, the less rock entries make it into the final, the better for Blood and Glitter.
International reactions have been quite positive about this song.

And that has to be applauded Tom. However, i just don't think this commits totally to the genre. Lyrically, this is 95% authentic but that 5% lacking leaves me cold.
Vocally, this is lovely...reminds me a lot of The Disturbed and that isn't a bad thing, trust me.
