I have since the Fold 3. Right now rocking an OPPO Find N2 and just ordered a Pixel Fold which will come in a few days. I plan to sell my OPPO Find N2 + my Google Pixel 6 Pro and get the Honor Magic V2 (Yes I'm a foldable addict/Nerd) 😂😂
This is exactly what a foldable's default dimensions should be. A fairly comfortable size for the folded screen(current 6.3" - 6.6") and just stack 2 of those to make the larger screen. Next up is catching up with the camera and battery life of the non foldables. And That would bring the evolution of foldables to match up and exceed the capabities of a non foldable.
Z Fold is the way to go, next they should do an Ultra one as well with same aspect ratio. Problem with Magic V2 is when opened the screen is too square.
Pixel fold's camera isn't nearly as good as the non foldable Pixel. And it's a first gen product priced higher than the current best in the market which is on its 5th gen. That's some weird pricing for a first gen product with ancient look tbh. Thouh I prefer the size over fold. A fold is a phone that ocasionaly doubles down as a tablet. Not the other way round. So at least while folded, the dimensions are closer to a normal phone.
I would seriously consider a Magic V2 as my first dip into the foldable phone market. It looks good, it's a good size, cameras seem ok and generally looks to run smoothly. The lack of wireless charging is a small minus though
I once had a phone with a broken usb port bit wireless charging. And i hated it. Wireless charging is to slow, i can not use my phone while charging. Charging in a train is almlst impossible. Phone overheats and stops charging if you charge it in a bag. Positioning the phone on the charging pad requires precission. In the dark its hard to put it on the charging block. On uneven sufices its harder to put it on the charging spot. In short Cable is much better.
This would be an immediate buy for me. I would even import it from China if it had google app support. I've been sticking with the the z fold 3 waiting for a folding phone with some real improvements and this one has them for sure.
Very cool! I use the Galaxy fold 3. And the Honor V2 here looks great! My biggest gripe with the Samsung ones is the small front screen. If this comes to the States I'd pick it up. Great review! Hopefully, the stylus will be available here!
I think Honor should now release V3 worldwide next year within 1 or 2 months after China launch rather than releasing V2 at the end of this year, if they are planning to release.
The domestic version has their own harmony os system. Honor are company of only 10,000 employees. If USA didn’t ban huawei, Honor would have still been under the huawei umbrella of 200,000 employees. Honor need the extra 6 months to fine tune and iron out any potential security flaws, that some people or parties may test.
I'm definitely interested if it comes with some of those software issues resolved. I might also hold out to see if anyone tests its dust and water resistance as it's not certified.
The only downside I'm noticing with the folding phones as someone who watches a lot of movies is the smaller aspects and giant black bars unless all ive seen are reviews with TH-cam videos showing in full screen. I know they aren't rectangular like a tablet, but it would be pretty disappointing if you fold the phone back to normal mode to watch stuff full screen with or without black bars.
Yeah, but nobody is actually giving us the battery duration. They tell everything except for how long it lasts. I don't know why it's a big secret. I have to wait until 2024 to get a real life battery test?
That is a major flaw that fans of the phone refuse to admit and by not doing so allow Samsung to keep with the subpar battery size. If anything we need a 5500mAh battery, more than candy bar phones. It is a definitive reason to give the Fold 5 a pass, but there are more pressing reasons including the front display.
I have an honor magic 4 pro at the moment. I have had 3 of their phones and they are fantastic. I would definitely be looking to buy this if it came to the UK
Okay so I love the idea and I would have one.... however no release until next year is a bit rubbish. But I think I'd rather wait for this than get the Samsung 5 or pixel fold
Wish there was a US version. That’s how a foldable should be. People thought I was crazy when I said we should have a foldable with the same size screen as a standard smartphone. Samsung needs to get on this. They would kill the market with this design.
In the US, watching this at the end of 2024, after the v3 has come out. Both the v2 and v3 are available new on eBay and just the V2 on Amazon. I'd be upgrading from a Huawei 8" phablet (MediaPad M8), which I bought/imported new on eBay, right before Huwawei lost Google Play. My Huawei has been fantastic even though it wasn't meant for the US market. No compatibility issues at all with T-Mobile. I like that Honor is made by Huawei and that it still has Google Play. My MediaPad has been absolutely my fave phone ever, which is why I still have it - even though it's really old and laggy at this point. I knew I wanted to upgrade to a foldable a few years ago, but until now, the foldables just weren't good enough for me to consider. I want to buy a slighty outdated new phone and pay less than $1K. The V2, as of right now, is around $900. Yay!
Id buy the honor magic V 4 probably, honor software sucks like old samsung software or similar, but I'd buy it but i would look for 8.25 inch unfold screen for me and better cameras with bigger sebsors, which would subsequently makes it thicker but it is where they should go
They presented it at IFA last week so i assume global launch is official. It's just a matter of date. It is listed on honor France website for instance.
i've been a Zfold user for 3 years now and i love foldable phone so much i will never go back to regular phones. And this one seems really good. can't wait the lauch so i can try it.
i just switched from iphone to the Z Fold 5 and im in love with the Fold but this phone looks so good!!! looks like ill be sticking to Foldables from now on
i have fold 5 and its great. its only smaller than the regular phone and a bit heavier but over all its good. however if those vivo has lighter and same quality and larger and cheaper, i might have it but maybe after 2 years.... hehe
@bogart5131 yea I believe there's better options than the Z Fold. I switched from an iPhone so to me it was a huge! Upgrade lol maybe in a year or 2 I'll be looking at other foldables. One thing I know for sure is I'm not going back to apple.
I had to send mine back as that tacky gold trim around the camera bump makes it look too chavvy. It might as well be encrusted with fake diamonds all around the edge. Instant passion killer.
Great review. I was expecting this to be available after the IFA presentation, but I was let down. So I did get the Fold 5 with a good deal, but I am still hoping they will launch an Google services optimized Version maybe at the start of 2024. I will definitely buy it.
It really depends on the underlying concept... Do you want a normal phone + small tablet (Honor V2)... Do you want a smaller phone + a bigger phone (Google Pixel) ... Or do you want to always use the bigger screen once both your hands are free and just need a highly functional one hand outside screen (Fold)...
Nice video and breakdown/analysis by you. I just picked up a mint 512GB Purple variant off Swappa for $1400 and am EXCITED. I just ordered it and it should be getting to me by today(10/2). I lived in Taiwan for 12 years so I've had Chinese phones in the past: Huawei, OPPO, Vivo, Xiaomi. I am just in LOVE with the form factor and how thin it is. I'll update y'all after I play around with it and get it up and running. 📱📱🤳🤳❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I just wish more phone carriers were open to having this being for sale, especially for a bigger variety in North America. Want to be able to get one when renewing my contract instead of having to spend almost $2000 on one.
Im confused why none of the foldable reviews hardly go into its actual PHONE functions. What about the mic/speakers? Ease of texting and calling? Ease of handling while you are out and about? I thought that was the purpose of the whole genre. Does this even work with US carriers?
Hi Tom. I know this is a year old but I have had the Fold 4 and the Iphone 15PM - do you think I am a nutter for buying this instead? It''s £800 on Currys (512gb) and I think it's a bargain! I also hated the slim fold 4's front screen and also I hated the Iphone's bulk.. I am not mega bothered about Cameras but I am bothered about space!
I'm on the honor magic vs, it's decent, had a few months now, I work in construction... Phone has been covered in dust a few times.. No problems as yet 👍 battery lasts all day.. 👌
1600 nits on the inside which is lower than the 2500 nit outter screen. Still beats my phone at 1000 nits, i would be stoked with the 1600 nit inside screen.

Just changed from iPhone 14 pro to Galaxy Fold 5 a couple weeks ago, really love the folding tech and the user experience is great 🎉 Really like the size of the Magic V2, sadly is not on sale in my country at the moment, unless I get an export set, but the support services could be an issue. Great review usual thanks 🎉
@@revoniaga6399 yes I will be able to buy it online, but that would be an export set. anything wrong with the unit would be troublesome to claim the warranty and send for repair.
Great vid thanks. I travelling to China, wondering whether to buy from there and bring back to UK. Apart from no hardware support here what other risks are there?
Can I ask if I dont have enough money for the Honor Magic V3, and can only afford the V2, should I just go for the V2 instead...? Will I not be missing too much if I go for the V2 instead of the V3...?
The only reason you say it’s the best Fold because because of the Cover screen. Which is not at all the purpose of a foldable. It’s completely useless to have a big cover screen.
It is not. The cover screen is used more than the inner screen by most people as we do not need to constantly open our phone for every part of our workflow. At least Honor gives us a choice when Samsung forces us to use the inner; for $1800 Samsung is bad. And by the way the purpose of a foldable is to have a choice. Otherwise we would call it a foldable tablet.
its software is way behind z fold 5...... and very less shortcuts for multitasking for which it is mostly will be considered. just the screen ratio is better but the fold screen ratio is not a deal breaker. plus the camera is just average.
Never been so excited about a phone so much in couple of years, I'm definitely excited by Huawei again I'm definitely thinking of getting one hopefully I'll buy it when prices come down to around $1000, Even second hand, I hope it works in U.S. and UK. I wonder if the U.S. carriers will support the bands.
I would consider buying it despite owning s23 Ultra. The Honor Magic V2 will be gold for me in terms of reading articles and using it like an tablet. Phone and tablet in 1. This is fabulous. China please bring it to UK.
Yes, the outboard screen sells me on this phone. Possibly the thinness of the phone as well. If I'm carrying a flag ship phone. currently the samsung s22, and the honor is basically the same size but has a table view. Sold.
Very good review. The best of both worlds is the expression you used and clearly defines the V2 as well as the Honor Magic 5 pro which I own. The V2 for not being a compromise and the HM 5 pro for being the best android (my biased opinion), but also have some ios links glued to it which are perfeclty implemented.
Coming from the previous video. The V Purse is not a concept is already for sale in China, it launched on September or October of this year(2023). I’m an apple fanboy but considering the Honor Magic V2. Tired of apple delaying basic features and giving users the bare minimum in all their products.
In the US, watching this at the end of 2024, after the v3 has come out. Both the v2 and v3 are available new on eBay and just the V2 on Amazon. I want to buy a slighty outdated new phone and pay less than $1K. The V2, as of right now, is around $900. Yay! Plus I've been having trouble parting with my MediaPad, as there's nothing else quite like it. I like that Honor is made by Huawei and that it still has Google Play.
I've heard Z fold (which I have) is better quality hardware, better software (plus Labs andGood Lock to enhence and customize software and making all apps split screen), task bar, better support, better display of apps, water resistant, wireless charging, power share, better ecosystem,SPen support ( with its own plethora of features), main camera shows all buttons when flipped to take selfie.....etc🎉... I really do love how thin this is and how good it looks on the main display as a regular phone. I think once this phone gets all these features though, maybe we can start comparing :-)
Why does everyone keep saying that some apps do not support split screen. It can be forced for all apps in the developer options with "force activities to be resizible" option
It is super nice. However delayed till q1 2024. What kind of marketing is that from Honor. Id love to have that but waiting for another 6 months to get it in the new year when the new chip and new devices started to come out is a serious miss calculation from Honor. Maybe the next one if they would be able to do it right. Up till then unfortunately the fold 5 is the best option in the UK.
This is the first foldable that has peaked my interest. I love Samsung's products for the last 3 years they have been the best but this looks like it a no compromise deal for a great price. Glad to see it is releasing in the UK
Does it overheat though. Being so thin? Otherwise typing from my fold 5. This one is nice. Fold 5 narrow is still nice and awesome for one-handed. I actually really like the narrow fold 5.
I'm a big fan of foldables. Started with Fold 2 and have a flip 4 right now but to be honest..I really want to switch from Samsung and the Magic V2 is in the lead right now. I really would like to getz my hands on that next.
Your videos look absolutely stellar on my Galaxy Note9, easily the best I've seen on TH-cam. Everything looks so crisp and vibrant and no letterboxing like on other channels. What camera setup are you using?
Hello, how can I get Google services officially on the Honor magic vs2 phone? Is there a way to convert the phone from a Chinese version to an international version?
Hey Chaps! Would you switch to a Foldable?? 🤔
yes
Watching on my 2 weeks old z fold 4 😊
Currently have the fold 5 and love it, but will definitely have a look at this when it comes to blighty

@@revoniaga6399 yes I will be able to buy it online, but that would be an export set. anything wrong with the unit would be troublesome to claim the warranty and send for repair.
@@revoniaga6399and do what when you need service? Cause it will need it in no time.
Great vid thanks.
I travelling to China, wondering whether to buy from there and bring back to UK. Apart from no hardware support here what other risks are there?
It's how a foldable should be from inner and outer display but software wise Z fold is still miles ahead
I'd say the Pixel Fold has the ideal dimensions..
@@aliasgharkhoyee9501 I love the pixel fold form factor but apps are really bad on it’s inner display

is the mobile still good?
i need one give away
the foldable phone is MIX FOLD 3
no its not lol it lierally saids in the title its honor magic v2
The worst foldable I've tested

Troll much?@@mariogrifus8020
Very nice! Thanks for this review!
i miss huawei phones
1:43 Aspect Ratio on Samsung Fold 5 is unacceptable to me. Samsung should know better.
Fabulous review!! Great job 👍👍👍
Hi there, how do you get the Google apps on the Honor phone? Cheers
This looks so fluid. Plus thin, big battery. I'm sold. Put Samsung software on there and sold...
That motion capture is wild 😍😍😍
huawei/Honor engineers working fulltime releasing the new Kirin chips and these beast of a phone. Kudos to them
Another interesting and informative review.
I would consider it if it was out in the UK but I hate it when companies take forever to launch phones. I just lose interest
Never been so excited about a phone so much in couple of years,
I'm definitely excited by Huawei again I'm definitely thinking of getting one hopefully I'll buy it when prices come down to around $1000,
Even second hand, I hope it works in U.S. and UK. I wonder if the U.S. carriers will support the bands.
Excelent! Waiting for the global version
Sold.
Hey .. I would consider buying one for sure! .. Waiting for it
Very good review.
Yay!
I'd be upgrading from a Huawei 8" phablet (MediaPad M8), which I bought/imported new on eBay, right before Huwawei lost Google Play. My Huawei has been my fave phone ever - even though it wasn't meant for the US market. No compatibility issues at all with T-Mobile.
I knew I wanted to upgrade to a foldable a few years ago, but until now, the foldables just weren't good enough for me to consider.
It can be forced for all apps in the developer options with "force activities to be resizible" option
what is your advice to by oppo find n3 our samsung z fold 5 or honor magic v2
I am not sure if the thinnest of device is enough to justify getting this device over the Z5 in the United States. What do you guys think?
Definitely I'll like to buy it. 🙌🏻
I ordered mine. Yesterday in UK
How has this been in the last 4 months
@@ianbailey4229 it's been great. Love it. Especially the os. It has great features
@@ianbailey4229 great. I'm using it daily and I'm so happy. Never regret it. Quality and dimensions, speed, signal and gaming. Love it
More tech news please 😊 have a nice day 😊
Great content. Would you recommend waiting to see if the global one comes out or get the Chinese version?
It is super nice. However delayed till q1 2024. What kind of marketing is that from Honor. Id love to have that but waiting for another 6 months to get it in the new year when the new chip and new devices started to come out is a serious miss calculation from Honor. Maybe the next one if they would be able to do it right. Up till then unfortunately the fold 5 is the best option in the UK.
This is the first foldable that has peaked my interest. I love Samsung's products for the last 3 years they have been the best but this looks like it a no compromise deal for a great price. Glad to see it is releasing in the UK
Be careful with no flex mode dear. 😢
Does it overheat though. Being so thin? Otherwise typing from my fold 5. This one is nice.
Fold 5 narrow is still nice and awesome for one-handed. I actually really like the narrow fold 5.
I'm sat, usually the MPs are alot less, my only reason why I haven't gotten a foldable is due to the camera 50 isn't that bad
Are you using the Chinese Rom? If I buy the chinese version, what set backs will I face with regards to using google services?
Im loving the look but my worry is that thin things bend and yeah just wondering how rugged it would be.
I want the V2. But the it will release in Q1 2024... I think you can beter wait for 6 months and maybe there will be better foldable then the v2
I've had two folds and I would order this one in a heartbeat
What an interessting concept with the handbag. This is thinking out of the box
