Here I am, almost 75 and trying to use photoshop. The pen tool was a real bugger and I'd almost accepted that I'd have to give up. Then I found this simple tutorial and I've almost got it! I see it's pretty old but alot of old things can't improved upon. I'm now a subscriber.
Oh. My. God. This is the best pen tool tutorial. I have been killing myself with the pen tool with white on white background objects...saved me a life time of frustration. Now I know why my paths didn't work..."ALT" Key. Thank you.
Hey awesome video. I have a question though: if i want to do multiple corrections (because the first time i used the pen tool left a lot of areas that needed removing later) when making a mask, how is this done?
what the heck you wouldnot gonna say to press lat for remaining slections it took me 1 hour to select the subject and after watching this i got nothing
After you select them all, where it says "exclude overlapping shapes", I clicked "merge shape components", then "make selection", then "add vector mask" and it worked. I know this comment is 3 years old but it could be useful for someone else :D

I’ve just learned the way to solve this... I just need to select both of them by pressing shift x)
