I found the scan feature very useful to find others ham DMR users as well as Public Safety and Store and mall frequencies. I enjoy listening to the non hams more than the hams. Good fox hunt radio.

I like using some Hytera radios as scanners because you can set channels up to watch each time slot or both time slots at once if you select pseudo trunk. The PD782 has nice FPP features also so you don't have to connect it to a PC to make a little change.
I gave been hearing alot of new DMR activity around me on commercial bands, DSD+ was not working well with my 90s RadioShack scanner with a discriminator tap and my only other options are a Motorola XPR7550 and XPR 6300, so this is an obvious buy for me to know whats new in the area! Thanks
Hi Chris. I tried letting mu HD1 listen to FM broadcast for about an hour and that seems to have done the trick. Thanks for the tip. Now I don't have to go and try to explain to Amazon why I have to return the second HD1. You saved me a lot of trouble. Thanks Mate!
Haha it's a common fault.my only complaint with the radio and it's a small one there is a tiny Pop at the start of each over and this can be rectified with a tiny modification.
Thank you for the comment. It would be exactly the same. A private call goes out to one ID number a group call goes out to multiple. Any tone is particularly good at how long it will stay connected to a talk group either private or group
Hey mate can you use a nx5200 to scan dmr? Like I set up the channels so there is endless possibility to hit right color, group etc for conventional receive only. Just can't get it to decode and they don't use ras.
Gerald Wilson You will be able to hear some digital communication which is not ham radio. But you won’t be able to sniff it out. If you know the frequency colour code and timeslot and talk group you can program it as a channel manually. But where the any tone excels is the ability to sniff out the relevant parameters on the radio

In Canada 99% of the Police services using Conventional P25 or Trunk P25 all else city ham fire is using DMR would be a sweet thing if police were using DMR for now keeping my D868 alongside my Uniden BC296D scanner for police

You cannot use baeofeng for DMR scanning, like this video. The station you were hearing was coming through my hotspot DMR, which uses the Internet. The whole idea of the video is to show that you can use any tone to find New DMR signals to listen to.
So this digi monitor only works from a blank code plug? Without resetting my 878, I've gone through the steps twice, the only thing that is scannable is my scanning list. 😪
As long as you have the radio in amateur mode it will work. You may have to assign a button to do it. I only reset the radio to show that no setup was required. When doing a search for other frequencies it will let you hear transmissions normally skipped. When you have it in used in ham radio DMR you will hear the conversation of the talk group the Repeater or hotspot is on. Rather than just see the green light showing up

Thealinco is very similar to the Anytone. I personally would get the Anytone and have done. The any tone will receive updates far longer than the alinco. They both are great I don’t think you’ll go far wrong with that one if you can’t find an any tone.
Once it finds a frequency, CC, and talkgroup can you store the data into a channel to use later ? Do you know if this will work with the new Anytone 878?

Radios are radios and scanners are scanners. If you set up a scanner/receiver to eavesdrop my conversation, I have nothing to say and nothing to do. But if you use an ordinary DMR radio to scan through all IDs, CCs and TSs and finally find me, I don't think it is decent. The aim of setting up time slots, colour codes and talkgroup IDs is to kind of "partition" my users from different users, just like the use of CTCSS/DCS in FM. Now with a cheap Chinese radio, you can actually listen to conversation with each and every combination of those settings. If HAM operation is gonna lose privacy, or the messages cannot be secret, HAM radios (DMR radios) should only have All Call and one single colour code.
@@galax574 If you're only talking to one person, keep it simple and do split frequency simplex. In the analog FM world this can be done with multiple squelch tones. Also, depending where you're at, certain digital formats aren't in common use and even without encryption, hardly anyone will be listening to you.

I asked my scanner contact your question and he said it picks up moto turbo. I will try and find someone nearby who has one that you could test this on

Adrian G7IQJ I believe the 1702 is virtually the same as the MD 2017 and rt82. There are lots of programming guides on TH-cam for these two radios for you to watch. I hope that helps Adrian.

No one cares anyway if you use this without a lic. The FCC doesn’t even care anymore. Almost impossible for them to find out, trust me I know. Even if so they barely even fine u if caught. They usually just warm you. I saw something funny in which someone asked if they can use this radio in an emergency, some ham geek said only with a license. Like In a apocalyptic senecio someone’s going to care about a license lol
ok thanks I wanted to use it for fishing events but it is not a complete water approval. buy the retevis rt82 since it is approved for water but I do not rule out that I buy the anytone has very good reviews..hope I can get that lic soon just in case
Johnny Crowley I have told the manufacturer about this many times. Now about a earphone. This radio has a Kenwood connector. One part is speaker and the other is microphone. I’m seem to remember the earphone part is smaller probably 2.5 mm instead of 3.5 mm we are used to. 2.5 mm is used in America and you may be able to get some headphones with a volume control on them. Which would reduce the volume. But the main microphone would still need to be used so worth experimenting. But look into what size the microphone connector is

Sorry I mean with the RT3S it is now possible to scan in digital mode and analog, you can change that in the CPS in VFO Mode. I tried it today.

I use my rt3s as a scanner and it works fine I program it in the field with my scanner giving me the info to put into it

The radio does not support the hacked firmware. Promiscuous mode is very basic

In this video I reset the radio and there was no ID in the radio. No ID needed

It works straight out the box. There are digital things it won't pick up. But it's still pretty handy
