If memory serves, it was the kidnapping and torture of a group of children that was the first salvo in this stomach- churning war. That’s what kicked the whole off. It was as clever as it was barbaric because the strategists knew that Netanyahu could be guaranteed to react with fury . War was a certainty now - and all of the children ( and their loved ones ) are living in pain and fear. Nothing on Earth could justify that first monstrous act. There are more honourable ways to fight. And to engineer a formal conflict - no matter what your cause . We all quote History, but it’s amazing how easily we forget the fateful day before yesterday. I am not Jewish, nor am I an apologist for Israel. I feel bound to defend myself this way, because we in the West are at each other’s throats. And reason seems to have deserted us.
James O'Brien deserves a medal for dealing with such stupidity on a daily basis.
I really like the way he handles the BSers and puts them in their place. Most callers of this sort start off with smooth talk, but it doesn't take long for them to start stuttering and can't think straight.

The Israelis have this problem of competing victimhood. They were not the only ones who suffered in WW2.
As an English-born Pole, my great grandfather was murdered in Auschwitz. His prisoner number was 9871, on February 21st, 1941. Six million Poles died between 1939 and 1945 - a narrative the world is not allowed to know.
Yet the Poles are quietly building up the military for defense purposes and not to be any type of aggressor.
I don’t see how you can use your history to justify aggression against other people/nations. It makes zero sense; it's a deception they use to justify any action.

The Kingdom of Israel collapsed 2,700 years ago and the region had been under the control of everyone but the Jews ever since. In the late 19th century European Jews started to settle in the region now known as Israel and in the early 20th century the British took control of the region from the Ottoman. The League of Nations gave them a mandate to control the region until such a time they could manage it themselves. Instead of doing that, the British began brining in Jewish settlers who forcibly removed the occupants and destroyed entire communities in order to build their own. When the British got tired of being responsible for the region they handed it over to the Jews who declared themselves a country.
The fighting that has been going on for the last century is because Israel is on stolen land and the owners of the land want it back. The Palestinians have never, even before Hamas, been willing to end the war because they want to go home. Israel's ceasefires offers basically amount to this: We will stop bombing hospitals, aide workers, and civilians if you stop fighting back against us taking your lands and killing your people.

Why start the clock there? 2 weeks before that Netanyahu was presenting a map at the UN General Assembly with his vision of the "New Middle-East", which had "Greater Israel" including all the Palestinian Territories! Should the Gazans, that have lived under occupation for decades and at least the last 17 years under blockade, just sit by and let that happen?

I met some on a holiday about 10 years ago, they were all talking about moving to Canada, UK etc. because they couldn't stand Netanyahu. And the men 40 and under could still be called up to fight as army reservists, which these guys wanted no part of.
I don't know if its its because they know they can find refuge in the countries they actually come from that theyre eager to start a war thar would bring chaos in Israel or they have a death wish. I really feel sorry for Avi and his children having to hide in a bunker during the attack.
I know how it feels. I remember as a child, being terrified when the Israeli 🇮🇱 airforce bombed us in Baghdad in 1981 and we were just outside playing football and like the poor children in Gaza, had no bunkers to hide in.
Yet no sympathy for Palestinian people not having the luxury of a bunker which didn't suffer a scratch because of having the most advanced anti-air defense in the world and getting killed in their homes, streets and hospitals. The masses that have died don't matter to you but the people living in complete protection have your sympathy. A very warped way of thinking.

Israel targeted Iranian officials. Iran targeted Israels mass population centers but the Iron Dome said "YOU SHALL NOT PASS".

The drones used were deliberate sitting ducks for US, UK, Jordanian fighter jets to shoot down as well as the Israeli Air defences. Those drones are slow, noisy and cheap, apparently built using motorcycle engines. The cruise missiles were intercepted by the Iron dome and other air defences such as David's sling I think.
One account states that one of Irans objectives was to deplete Israeli arsenal as they are far more expensive than the Iranian drones and missiles that were launched. The other objective for Iran must've been the valuable data gathering on Israeli air defences.
Some of the ballistic missiles hit Ramon air base, which interestingly was the base in which the fighter jets that hit the consulate building were based.

Before 7th October, more than 400 innocent Palestinians were murdered in the West Bank, where there were no Hamas.
I've zero sympathies for this guy on the phone... his country attacked an embassy(act of war) and Iran responded with destroying a couple airfields in kind.
If the last 6 months have taught us anything at all about israel its that they're completely unhinged and have lost perspective on what is appropriate behavior towards their neighbors.
I dont like bullies and that's so much of what and who israel is now.

It’s not exactly worse (it’s just as bad when the US behaves this way), but incredibly pathetic that the source of Israeli confidence is the US military and funding. They know that if Iran falls to their provocations and the war starts, it won’t be an Israeli-Iran war. It will be a war between Iran and the US. If the US abandoned Israel today, they would have no ability to fight any of the wars they’ve been starting.
