  • Trucking literally changed my life financially! I went from being laid off from a 15yr career job & unemployed 3 months prior to attending trucking school. It was a challenging time in my life but God got me through it. Obtaining my CDL was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Hopefully this video helps someone who maybe going through something similar and just needs a little encouragement. #trucking #truckdriver #cdl

    I was a UPS package driver for five years, had my own route, top rate salary, everything…left it all to live up the dream of going otr…didn’t like it one bit, now having an interview with GFS this week. I wanna go back to moving boxes, make my blood pump, feel alive (and probably sore as hell in the beginning 🤣), and get back up financially hopefully 🙏

    Your story is like mine, Anthony. 15 years with an insurance company and was laid off. As a family, we decide through prayer to go ahead with a private trucking school. God will get us through this new chapter.

    Such a great journey and testimony!
    Thanks for sharing. I have a very similar journey and grateful everyday! My corporate office job laid me off in 2018. It was bright sunny day dress down Friday, pay day and feeling good. Then, boom! Downsized and left that day with a box of my supplies from my cubicle. Didn’t even get a chance to finish my coffee either. Haven’t look back since and staying humble. 🙏
    Trucking has changed my life and never imaged it being possible years ago. 🚛

    I’ve been watching you for awhile then this popped up in my feed..
    The TDI location looked familiar from the thumbnail.
    I got accepted to the same one!
    Took my Gen. Knowledge, Air Brakes, & Combinations at the DMV.
    As all all the endorsements & entry courses completed.
    Start at TDI soon & looking forward to it. Got my passport recently & will get my twik card as I will possibly drive internationally as I go OTR with no home base.
    Already have some really amazing sign on bonus offers from Werner & Walmart. 🙌🏽

Best financial decision I ever made, having a CDL gives you financial security especially when you discipline yourself with your money and save to invest to make more money. Keep your faith strong in God fellas and ladies, your dreams will come true with a solid plan.

I was blessed and got hired by xpo logistics. Nobody would touch me but they did. Gave me a bonus my first week there of four thousand dollars. Great content once again fam how would you say the things you went through shaped you for the future ? Did it make you stronger wiser? etc what advice do you have for young men overcoming that kind of adversity?

    • @imanthonytv
      @imanthonytv  ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Thanks for watching my guy. First off, great questions! The adversity I went through not only made me wiser & stronger but it also reminded me that nothing lasts forever. It taught me to never get too comfortable & always think about worse case scenarios. Like I mentioned in the video, it made me want to get a skill that would provide a plethora of opportunities. It also helped change my mindset when it comes to earning money. It taught me to never rely on one source of income going forward no matter if it means getting a side hustle. As a believer, It also strengthened my faith in the Lord. My faith never wavered when it came to me believing I would eventually get through that difficult time in my life. I stayed positive & also had a good support team helping to keep me encouraged during that time. My advice to anyone going through any adversity is first ask the Lord for guidance if you’re a believer. You also have to believe & see yourself getting through that difficult time. It also helps if you can stay positive & try to have a positive outlook in a bad situation. It’s not that easy to do honestly. For example when I got laid off, I looked at it as the job losing me not me losing the job. I also looked at it as God telling me he has something better in store for me and this was the only way to get me to move on. His plan will always be better than ours. Also, try to surround yourself with likeminded individuals who can help keep you encouraged during difficult times. Hope this answered your questions bro.

    This video was so interesting and cool! Did you consider looking for another sales job? I ask as it's such a stark change of profession when you think about it. Also, with so many years of sales experience, wouldn't you have been able to leverage your experience to get a 65k-70k job?

    • @imanthonytv
      @imanthonytv  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes, I applied for a couple of different management job openings at the time. However, no call back..It’s actually not a big change at all. I was a sales manager over the delivery driver’s at Krispy Kreme. Before I became a manager I was doing something very similar to what I’m doing now in food service. Delivering products to various customers using a dolly & going up & down a ramp. The only difference is the product, the customers, & the pay. I’m definitely making more than 70K lol. It all worked out in the end. I can’t complain. Blessed 🙏🏾

      @@imanthonytv Now I get it. Makes total sense! I can relate. I'm a Marketing Coordinator and work fully from home. I'm always concerned the company I work for will downsize, and I'll be cut. I earn 49k a year right now. I've considered trucking, but I don't want to sleep in the truck.

    • @imanthonytv
      @imanthonytv  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @maryshane8023 I don’t blame you lol. I wouldn’t sleep in a truck either. To each his own but it’s not for me. I sleep in company paid hotels during my layovers twice a week. It’s not bad at all. Please understand that truck driving isn’t just driving all over the country sleeping in a truck. That’s considered OTR or over the road driving. They actually have local & regional drivers. Many drivers are home every day. It really depends on the company you work for & what job you’re interested in doing when/if you decide to enter the industry.

    • @imanthonytv
      @imanthonytv  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @maryshane8023 Food service driver’s make anywhere from 70k to well over 100k. It’s a very physically demanding job that pays well. No, I really didn’t have a desire for anything else at the time. I’ve been in the delivery business for so long that what I’m doing now just came natural.

      We get paid component pay which means total miles, stops, cases, & hours worked all factor into your overall pay. There are rates for each thing I just mentioned. Hourly rates are based on levels. It’s level 1-4. For example, if you’re a new driver you’ll start at level #1 rate. We also get quarterly safety bonuses. The amount of the bonuses will depend on things like your attendance, driving, scan rate, etc.
