I remember I picked up the ghastly shield for about 200g back in 2017 when they suddenly went through a price crash, likely because a player who was hoarding a number of the skins decided to cash out. The price has since bounced back up, but for about a week, the skin was somewhat affordable
most people forget about Fiery Dragon Sword, i'm glad you mentioned it! i think it's been moved further down the unlock list, iirc it used to be amongst the last unlocks, but now its down at 10. still rare though, still a few hundred hours of work in a 19 year old game (and a difficult one too!) i love running around with my black widow and fiery dragons swords :D
I was gonna say 19? But then my tired ass realized you're obviously counting the first game and GW2 as one game...Never played 1 since I was playing Wow and CS religiously. But I have been playing 2 since it was just under a year, maybe? I think I just got my 9yr anniversary gift close to a year ago. IDK. Something like that. Wish I did play GW1 though.
@@jdgoesham5381give it a try gw1 is a fantastic game and you still find other players there. in the last few years i realized the instanced areas are a plus... no braindead zerg play to clear the content (i really dont get anymore wats so good at the concept to have all the players in the same instance it just kills the intended difficulty for everything) and the hero system is amazing.
Got the shield from a vintage lion box. Was like "meh, kinda cool" and unlocked the skin in the armory. Only then I found out that I could sell it for a Legendary.
I got the Ghastly Grinning shield from a Guaranteed Unlocker you can get from Black Lion keys or statuettes. Then got the tradeable version from the Vintage box after using tons of black lion weapon tickets I got from completing sets. Pretty happy with this. The Ectoplasmic Stone skins are horrendous since the Mystic Forge result includes weapons that aren't even level 80. The forge stones are a lie in that they "will produce an item based on the average of the other weapons". Pretty sure an average of 80 across 3 weapons is still 80, Arena net. As for Efficiency not being representative of the whole player base. Anyone who cares enough to play the game to get anything that requires effort will be signing their account up with Efficiency to make that easier.
its funny cause i feel soto has added quite alot of unlockable weapon skins which is nice if they continue that for the next few expansions ill be down for that
I have the blue version of the fiery dragon sword, but unlocking the original in HoM takes an insane amount of effort nowadays, as the original game was much more difficult.
It's nothing more then a grind, very easy to do for the 30 points for all the Hall skins. Only "difficult" part is going full 50 points to max Hall, and GWAMM. And again that's just a grind thing, can be all done solo.
I have a few of the Mordi legendary weapons (Longbow and Greatsword) as well as all RGB Hammer skins :) I actually use the green hammer for my Mechanists hammer build since she has a Jade Brotherhood theme going.
got my ghastly grinning shield from one of those guaranteed weapon unlocks from black lion chests.. also got volcanus the same day.. but that shit is pretty cheep these days..
GW1 Hall of Monuments and title GWAMM are very easy, they're nothing more then a grind. GW Efficiency doesn't = the GW2 player base. It represents the players that have entered their API key into the website.
About your gw2efficiency remark at the end: I would say any somewhat serious gw2 player has their account registered at gw2efficiency, so it does reflect a proper view on the playerbase statistics. In my opinion, if you're not using gw2efficiency, you're doing it (horrendously) wrong :)
I am making a full Kralkatorrik build. I have all of the mounts and the Dragonfall armor with the backpiece that you get from the Shatterer. I only need the hammer skin and I'm good to go. After that I will do the same with Mordremoth.
New to the game .. in fact I’m still downloading the game .. few questions .. in wow I used to play hunter/warlock/druid as healer etc I loved necro in Diablo .. soooo what is the best healer in game ? And what is the most needed dps in group pve? I saw chronomancer is considered the best healer besides Druid .. can u help me a bit 😂I love dps but lately I’m into healing
Me wanted to unlock more stuff from GW1, even got all the expansion from steam at discount price. yay :D Problem is my sole laptop is old and is using Windows 8 operativ system, which cannot be upgraded. But as of Jan 1st 2024, My Steam cannot operate on Windows 8 anymore. My Heritage armor. :(
You should still be able to run Steam until the launcher just flat out doesn't work anymore. They changed the absolute deadline to "you can still run things, but if it breaks or doesn't work anymore you have your warning".
Really, if you think about it the most rare weapons in the game are the ugliest weapons in the game that are also expensive. Or are hard or pricey to craft as well as being ugly and not fitting many people's fashion sensibilities. Like most of the rifles and pistols in the game. For a decade now that's prob one of the most annoying things in the game; Their inability to make good looking pistols and rifles except for a few each. 90% of the look the same with diff colors or patterns.
ye some of these arent ever unlocked purely cos they look dogshit and nobody even bothers ps. holy heck, im rocking battle worn on my norn warrior, fully realistic immersive outfit, i thought it would be among popular skins...
All these skins and weapons but at the end they are all useless cause guildwars 2 is so easy and casual, that it doesnt even have a gearing curve that goes further with new content.
that has however nothing to do with skins. plus the gearing system in gw2 is pretty good, no boring forever grinds nor p2w bs... even the ingame skins are just that, skins. that to be said, legendary weapons are quite a grind in the end, they are just not necessary to have, which is a pretty fair buildup.
@@reson8 you’re right. Exactly what I stated. Can’t be rare due to non interest. Rarity, specifically in games, comes from rng drop or activation rate/difficulty or prestige of the achievement tied to the item.

3:00 this Info did not aged Well since they fixed the bug Yesterday xD
lol I know right, I found out the bug was fixed as I was uploading the video and just thought "well that sucks"
I remember back in year one I had to save up 80g to buy the Ghastly Grinning Shield. Yeesh, it took a long time to get that gold back then.
Yep bought that too, so so so long ago. Now I never use it 🤦🏻♂️ And apparently the current sell price is 1169 gold, lol.

Ghastly Grinning Shield was the first expensive item and purely cosmetic item I ever bought. Still my favorite weapon in the game.
That falchion and shield look really good, omw to unlock them!

i still go play gw1 sometimes and mainly focus on progressing the unlock track
u need any minis for ur HoM? got a few spare
every once and a while I'm tempted to go back to gw1. for the same reason, I never actually completed the full reward track
i mean if u got EOTN u can get some pretty easy things done, llike minis@@Evan4K

I wonder if there are any obtainable weapons that are important to the lore.
Kinda like Shadowmourne and Ashbringer in WoW.
I think some of the legendary weapons are, like The Shining Blade or Claw of the Khan-Ur

I got the Gastly grinning shield from a random wardrobe unlock

A small fraction of the players have added their API to the site.
Actually, The SOTO collections reward very special weapon skins (e.g. The Waylit Lantern or the weapons under Honorary Astral Ward meta achievment)

You can’t list something as rare if no one wants to craft it due to it being atrocious.
Yes you can. The definition of rare is that few people have it, regardless of whatever reason that is.
