I recall Glass mentioned the inspiration for this, or the guiding principle, was to write something his dad would have liked hearing, which probably explains the accessibility.
Repent and trust in Jesus. We all deserve Hell for our sins, such as lying lusting coveting and more. We can't save ourselves, but Jesus can save us. He died on the cross to save us for our sins and rose from the grave defeating death and Hell. You must put your faith in him only. He is the only way to Heaven. Repent and trust in Jesus. Romans 6:23 John 3:16❤😊❤
Glass' father was born more than 100 years ago. There's no way you're growing up on early jazz and vaudeville (or whatever classical from the time) and getting minimalism, especially once you're in your 50s. The OP is probably right, regardless of his feelings for this questionable work. My parents would hate just about everything I've written, so I do know how it is.
I love Glass, and I love this piece. I heard it with the New York City Ballet, in Circle of Fifths about fifteen years ago. Not part of their repertoire, so I don't know if I'll ever se it again, but it was magnificent. Listening along with the sheet music was revelatory for me. Thanks you for posting it.

My guess is his father would nevertheless not liked it all that much.

@@Digital-DanBe honest and say you don't like the concerto. Don't project your appreciation on Glass' late father.

Rehearsing it now. It sounds much better than a trumpeter can enjoy playing it.

Nice piece for those entering the world of Glass. Far from his best work but a nice light piece. The ending is badass.
It reminds me of Maurice Jarré.

Never understood that "dying for somebody else's sins" thing. Makes about as much sense as most of the other ancient desert stories in that book.
Terrible...
