I think thiz kind of game are ment to be played with friends and family... And its not the same online... So its kind of exprnsive... They should definitrly bring morr content and characters... Maybe pikachu, link and kirby for example (does it ring a bell?) 😅😅😂😂

Reality: "Ok fine have Daisy you fucking bastards, oh but by the way we are gutting half of the entire roster!"
Things I would change...
1. Patch out the Death Lob, but keep the titans chip.
2. Un-nerf Technique, un-nerf long shots, nerf uncharged shots, buff charged shots, nerf cross-shots, nerf interceptions, and buff tackles.
To clarify I would make it much easier to defend against cross-shots, while making charged shots more effective.
The best way to do this, is to change what tackles do. To put it simply I would either leave the stun duration alone, but I would also add A LOT of knockback to tackles! If I tackle someone with a charged tackle it should push them clear out of the goalie area.
3. Interceptions and items need a slight cooldown. I'm really tired of every match just devolving into item spam madness...especially in the galactic cups. (Because intercepting an interception from another interception which was its self an interception of one of Boom Boom's throw ins should not be a thing that happens every single round of a match, not even in the Chain Cup)
4. I would make it possible to turn off items and Hyper Strikes in club mode.
5. No more slow-mo on hyper strikes in Club mode, but items can still be put down (at least this has some semblance of strategy).
6. I would limit Boom Boom's throw ins to only that teams side of the court, because why the hell does he constantly throw it clear to the other side, when I have multiple eligible receivers near him. No seriously he is the goalie, the goalie is supposed to be on your team, not a third party. WTF?!
7. We need an absolutely MASSIVE buff to friendly AI, no seriously the AI is so bad, but only for your team. I know they "buffed" Boom Boom, but actually that just hurt it that much more, because it feels like ONLY the opposing goalie is better, and "Boom Boom diff" is an even bigger problem then ever before! Its not just the goalie either, every match in a cup battle feels like a constant 1 VS 9, and I think its even worse then before. Pre-patch AI behavior was bad, but post-patch I literally have had instances where CPUs just move around and nothing else.
8. Add more game modes, add a lot more gear sets, more characters, more stadiums, add button remapping, implement play invitations, add a spectator mode, add a story or campaign mode, make the visual assist mode a lot better, make the hyper strike bar easier to see, make the ball itself A LOT easier to see (maybe by bringing back its design from Charged), allow each member of a club to have 2 strikers each not just one (I mean if u can have 2 players each then why the fuck not), and add A LOT more incentives to either join or start a Strikers Club .
9. I would change how the CPU difficulty setting works, I would add a new "Brutal" difficulty to CPUs, but would also make "Hard" a bit easier. So, the new "Hard" CPUs would land between current Normal and Hard, while the "Brutal" difficulty would be slightly more difficult then the current "Hard" CPUs.
This is how I wish the game could be....instead of the absolute mess I am currently dealing with....would this fix all the issues…no, not even close, but it would b a good first step!!!
I played it for about an hour . its disappointing that developers get lazy at launch and release games like this with barely any content then just add more later .games need to be complete at launch imo (like they usedto be during the ps2 era for example).Great video as usual lads!

I already accepted it to be unfinished but still cant get over on why you cant play proper 4v4s when you can do it offline and Switch Sports has one player each 4v4 football online. 🤦♂️

The game is not currently worth 60 dollars. Those of us who bought it are basically trusting nintendo to deliver on the promise of making it better. And I really hope they do.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! i needed a review because i was so tempted to buy this day one but i felt as if something was off with what i saw on the online tests, good thing i waited for the reviews, certainly will wait for the game to get more content and HOPEFULY (although i don't believe it possible with how complicated it sounds) 8 player matches.

Spot on. Bought the game day one with my friends. The online features are abysmal and the lackluster single player content really hurts. The game play is great, there just needs to be way more in the game for an asking price of 60$. Side note though, 8 player online is gonna need dedicated servers, you can currently play with 4 players in a match (2v2) and boy is it a lag fest. Even playing 1 on 1 with my buddies we had horrible lag.

I think "slightly bare bones" is being too kind.
This game is unbelievably bare for something selling for full price.
Comparing how much content it has vs Strikers Charged is not even close.
reminds me of the tennis open vs aces. sucha shame. guaranteed dlc using the online expansion pack probably 😂😢
All battle league is missing is some returning characters from previous entries & the “Road to striker cup” campaign.
It’s not like strikers had extra mini game modes that added single player replay value like Mario golf or baseball for GC.

I'm okay with stuff getting added later but I also wish they just let the developers put a little more in as it's clear Next Level Games was trying add old GC Mario strikers beta concepts in like having the characters be your team and items.
However I understand that Nintendo is trying to make the sports games work like their own version of a battle royal game with occasional updates adding things kinda like multiversus for Playstation plans on doing.
As of now I can say I like strikers battle royal and can't wait for more, it plays good, it's missing some things but they've been promised to come so I'm here for it. They just better make the lag not lag or at least be somewhat like smashes lag maybe it'll be laggier smash has a lot of the servers lol
Excellent review. Starting with a pun like Ballon d'or or Ballon d'oh it was always going to be a winner. I think Azdin's reviews are getting so much better (and they weren't bad to begin with)

Does anyone remember how fleshed out mario golf was on the gamecube? Lots of unlockables, a mini golf mode and a fun but infuriating birdie challenge to unlock bowser junior. Great game

I grabbed the game on release day and have been enjoying it. So far I've only been playing the Cup Battles. I haven't played online yet, but I've been trying to put together a Striker's Club for when the "season" starts. Doesn't seem like many of my friends picked the game up too, though.

I love this game and the gameplay and animations are really good imo. But indeed the devs could have added much more content like unlockable characters, new playfields, new hypercharge moves etc etc. I only play this game with my kids on one switch and we are having a blast. Nintendo Mario games are very rarely on a discount and I dont mind paying full price as long as I enjoy the game. But hopefully the dev team will add new content to this game.
Devs always want to add tons. Its the Stakeholders to blame. They give a shit about what Fans want. Only want a quick cash grab and then leave.
Nicely put.... The game is good but launching a half-full content game i dont think i have the luxury of time to revisit the game after my initial playthrough .... I'll download the free DLC just to have them but i would be so disconnected with the game by that time, that i wont go through the trouble of relearning the mechanics

Biggest issue for me is bad visualisation of selected player (number above which is the same colour as your other teammates (active/innactive) really gives bad readability..) I would better get coloured circle under selected character (maybe let each player select his colour (red, blue, green, yellow) and work with that all the time instead of number..

I think people don't fully realise the gameplay IS the content!!! Sure its a bit light in content but the meat in this game is the fantastic gameplay. Can't wait to play with 8 buddys in my living room!
But thats exactly the problem Martin. I dont think its that easy just getting 8 grown men with busy lives in a room together on a constant basis. A good multiplayer is important with majority of todays games and this games multiplayer is pretty weak for a game being released in 2022

I got this at a discounted price of £32 and it feels well worth it but only because me and friends get together for regular game nights.
People who are buying for online play and single player need to avoid this title like the plague.
The wii version has a lot higher skill ceiling and fun albeit unintended skill shots were a lot more satisfying to pull off (toad front flipping over the keeper with the ball).
I completed battle league cups entirely in 3 hours. A lackluster title that is a blast in the right company.

I agree, buying this game is like buying boomerang fu or knightsquad 2 with extra steps in its current form, definitely fun if you have company but pretty much useless single player. I just really hope they fix the proper 4v4s online immediately, I'll be glad if they can implement it when the season starts.

I'm tired of nintendo releasing unfinished games and finishing the rest with updates. While the games are still polished the lackluster content rly makes it an underwhelming experience overall. It sandbags the games interest. This isn't like smash where the base game is already complete and stuffed full of content

There is the base of a great game here but just released far too early and some poor decisions; too light on content and the lack of an actual 4v4 is just ridiculous. This game just feels like a huge missed opportunity again for a Mario sports title.
For those who find they get the value out of it then I am happy for them. For me however it's a no and I am not going to buy a game on the promise of what it might eventually be.

I can already see the sickening slew of DLC’s coming out to make this a complete game. Skipping this title entirely.

@@nameforcomments4092 I picked up a few titles from the Pixel Game Maker Series. The Werewolf Princess game is very similar to a GBA style Pocky & Rocky.
Really enjoying the new donut puzzle game that I can't think of the name of and The Wizard & The Slug, which plays a lot like a Mario meets Kirby game. Don't let the cheap graphics fool you.

Yeah I played the demo and I will never understand why Nintendo is doing this with their games or any platform for that matter. The recent Mario Golf and Mario Tennis are two examples of this. They also did the same thing with the new Nintendo Sports game that came out a month ago by only adding 6 sports available at start and golf will later come near the fall...just one sport. They're taking something that made these games shine in the past and downgrading them back into the prehistoric ages by removing characters and features that were originally in previous games. However they're still happy to charge full price for these titles with their missing elements. I'm gonna wait and see what they add later before I buy it.. Your review was very informative and good.

And by the way, I agree. Everytime I see Waluigi in action, I feel like I need a Waluigi game. I've been thinking about something like "Detective Waluigi", point and click formula revisited by Nintendo with creepy mysteries to be solved and dark humor, that'd be my dream. Waluigi just has so much unused potential! Completely getting away from Strikers though, haha

There could be more content, but the gameplay is truly amazing!
Adding content after launch is disappointing but they do it for a reason, they want to get players to re-engage with the game. This is good because it keeps the multiplayer more populated than it would otherwise be. Whether or not that's worth the trade off is up to your wallet, but I don't think it's fair to just call it lazy.
It didn't work with mario golf.

@@SwitchUpYt Awesome. I have been playing Steam Deck. I am getting really comfortable with higher frame rates. I feel like this might be a fun game to play with my kids. I just have no idea if they will like it. I thought they wouldn't like Arms, but they LOVE it.
I late reaction from my side, but I'm really very much opposed to the current trend of releasing "unfinished" games, regardless of free future DLC. I expect a premium package straight from the box if I'm paying a premium price.

Definitely not a bad game. 100% should have had a lot more to it. I play Mario Tennis Aces now more frequently and it’s become pretty great from its release so I am confident this will as well. For anyone that’s played the new mario golf; is it any good?

My verdict is that the game has a good base and plays well but it doesn't have enough content to be worth the $60. After you beat the cup battles there's basically nothing left to do but play online matches until you eventually get bored and stop playing.
It seems to me that its almost a game as a service with the trickling content that they plan with what I assume to be future characters and arenas. The price is way to expensive (but expected) for what you get and the lack of online play options is disappointing. I will not be getting this game.
Not yet, not for the asking price anyway.

Personally I don't play online so those "perceived issues" don't bother me. Yes, being able to bring you and your friends from local to online does sound like it could be fun, but the balancing would be terrible. Imagine 4 friends who are your typical "pub stompers" go online and you get paired with randos or worse "AI". Now, that sounds horrible already, I'd imagine a LOT of people with a group of friends would play online, but I also think that anyone who wanted to play solo would be utterly screwed. Then you have queue times for both "team" matches and "solo queue", which already divides the playerbase by a significant margin, so then what? You mix solo players with teams? Ooof. Sounds horrible if you ask me. Running into tryhards is far too common in competitive games. Atleast if it's 1-on-1 you don't have as many worries. This isn't your typical "competitive" game, yeah, it can be played with a team, but in other team based sports games it's common to see 1-on-1 not 4-on-4 online.
If they do add it, I'd imagine the playerbase online would dwindle horribly as matchmaking would be a serious issue, which creates another problem which people will inevitably complain about even though this result is a product of what they asked for. On one hand, yeah I get it, on another, I don't know, maybe it could work, maybe it won't.

This game is not worth 60$. Besides the minimum character customization the entire game is basically the same as what we experienced in the demo. Field is too small as well, not worth at all

This is Mario Golf all over again (and Tennis!). Still not worth the asking price for either at their current state, so I don’t expect anything less with this title. Maybe next year…

Bit Harsh on review, game is FunAF just playing matches local - I couldn't code a game so I can't complain - So glad its not swamped with microtransactions like Rocket League either..although I love RL - haha -
Yeah, this needs plenty of characters to bring diversity in tactical approach, lest the experience be too repetitive.

I'm really disappointed by the straight up misleading presentation of the test, they showed 4 open spots on the screen implying 4 players per team, but that's just not the case
Is it not as I've played against a team or 4 players online or do they pretend they are bots? As they played like actual human players
@@mecharobots it's 2v2 instead of 4v4 which they implied through basically all the advertising, setting you can create leagues of 20, 5 groups of 4 and 8 players on 1 console, so it implies 8 players online with everything, it's a bit ridiculous

Fantastic quality upload and review. This is a 'wait for more content' for me. We need a new full Mario game I feel. Spidey sense tells me a New Switch or beefed up one is on the way soon (2023) and zelda/metroid/bayonetta3 will be the system sellers. Life in the old switch yet :-)

It's a bummer that this game is being released and "extended" The same way Mario golf was last year. Mario golf played great, but the bare bones uninspired presentation and slow character and course rollout Made me feel "tricked" at launch And I don't think we played it past 2 or maybe 3 months. right now I think Sept was when we last played

They don't give enough initial content for me to justify buying extra content. You need at least 40 base starting characters in every game. We are in 2022 not 2002. We are getting cheaped out every single time especially with Nintendo
I don’t agree on the audio, the previous titles of mario strikers blow this game completely out of the water.
I feel as if all sports games have just really gone down hill fast.
And once again, Nintendo makes it hard to justify a purchase from me due to subpar amounts of content and online capacity despite producing a really stylish and cool game… will see it in a yr or at a friends house then.
Honestly, for me it feel like an AAA mobile version of previous Strikers games. I miss the camera from previous strikers game and when tpu kick the ball, then you really feel it. I don't know how to explain it, but this new entry is off.
You could say that about any Nintendo game these days if you want. Mobile games look so good and Nintendo games don’t for consoles so they are supper close looking. That’s not to say Nintendo games aren’t great.
I like the game but so many things are missing and bad about it online, I wish I could get a refund.
Strikers is a pass for me. Great review!

The first time they announced this game I literally jumped screaming from my spot my wife got scared. I bought it and finished the gold cups ( the hard ones ) but i was upset the whole time. It was a major let down for me. The OST is really annoying and very very bad the game play is not clear at all the ball, the players the HUD everything is not comfortable for the eyes. The color selection for both teams doesn't make a big difference sometimes. The online is a mess. The graphics are terrible. And of course the lack of characters and content is unexcusable. For me i wouldn't give it a score above 6. Specially at 2022.
Amazing fun but almost no reason to keep playing, this should've been a 20 quid indie or a free to play with gear customisation as micro's
It is such a shame as I wanted this series back so fucking badly and it is great fun to play mechanically but it will get very old very fast
I already wish I could keep the ultimates on but shut the animations off as it is such a slog if 5 go off in 1 game

Great review. This game has zero content so I won't be buying it. I don't give two shits about online play, so I can like play single matches and that's it?
Personally, when it comes to 1st-party titles, I don't mind less features at launch, because it's kind of a win-win for me. If I decide it's worth it, I have strong confidence that it will get even better. If I decide to wait, I can often get it on sale and get added content to boot. With the name of Nintendo on the game, the one thing I know will probably NOT happen is that it gets worse, or gets neglected. Nintendo it is it for the long haul, and generally what they release is top-tier, and stays top-tier, for a long time.
EDIT: Oh, and I need good local co-op stuff for the fam, and Nintendo generally handles that really well, so the loss of certain features in online play affects me less.
I felt this way when Super Mario Party came out. Fast forward to now, and they did indeed finally add an online mode I will never use, but not the added boards the game sorely needed. Instead there's a whole other different and arguably better Mario Party game now that also makes me pine for DLC.
I hate this gimmick of adding content slowly after release Nintendo has been doing lately. I mean I’d rather wait and pick up the game at a later date. My back log isn’t running out anytime soon.

I agree. Mario and Luigi needs to go back to their day job that is being plumbers. Only Johnny Sins should be allowed to have many jobs really. I mean Johnny is VERY capable.
