I can almost garentee its a lifter or a rocker arm. The l99 (automatic) is notorious for having this issue. It's one of the reasons I got a manual so I could have the ls3 and avoid that issue. But yea after 65k I hear this problem a lot in the 5th gen automatics

I have a 2011 Camaro SS I bought it with 55,000 miles I paid 14000 for it it's Inferno Orange I love the car I know all about the lifter problems a DOD delete so I rebuilt the engine I put $15,000 into it including headers stainless steel exhaust high-flow cats straight to the back with Flowmaster Super 10s Muffler I put a BTR stage 2 LS 3 cam BTR. DOD delete kit had the heads done all new rods new valves crank Pistons also decided to do the water pump brand new alternator condenser radiator has a little crack so I got a new radiator yeah it cost me a pretty penny Texas Speed headers the car is now a true Beast pushing 531 horsepower oh yeah and BMR cold air intake get rid of that DOD nothing but problems need to buy the displacement on demand kit change your lifters get rid of the old ones

I have a 2011 Camaro SS same color Inferno Orange I just recently rebuilt my entire engine not because there was something wrong with it I had 123 thousand miles on it I've had no issues with the car but I know the lifters it only runs on 4 cylinders until you get on the car and then it becomes an 8-cylinder that's bulshit that's the stupidest thing GM ever invented of course when I rebuilt the engine I got the dod delete kit displacement on demand BTR Brian Tooley because after a while the lifters that they cut off will stick and you have a big problem it can basically destroy your entire engine I dumped $15,000 into my engine the car is a beast now it is a true V8 now I also had two heads done I put a BTR stage 2 LS3 cam Texas Speed headers x pipe Flowmaster Super 44 mufflers high-flow cats also from Texas Speed all new lifters valves rocker arms dual Springs crank Pistons I even went as far as getting a new water pump alternator radiator condenser oil pump because I didn't want to have any problems or issues down the road so I might as well do it all in one shot timing chain everything main seals the car is a fucking beast now I had a Dyno Tuned SK Speed and Farmingdale Long Island 568 horsepower so if you really like the car you don't have to dump as much money into it as I did but take care of that problem with the lifters the. Delete kit or whatever the problem is and you should be fine

Sounds like a good excuse to put a cam and lifters and all new pushrods and valve springs in it and do away with the afm/dod. Do the work yourself it's very easy.

I had a tick noise that went away after op temp but it sounds like u have a knock I know the afm lifters had issues mine is a manuel I put in ls7 lifters problem solved I hope urs is just a lifter issue unless u ran it super low on oil

Can you do a review and cold start video of the Little Tikes Cozy Coupe. Looks like a late model variant.

Did you get it fixed ? Sounds like a bad dod lifter to me

  • @cadillacblunt

The L99 has so many problems that is why I bought a stick. No Displacement on demand. Auto = L99 stick = LS3. It sounds like a lifter issue

Could be a loose valve that needs tightening. Take the valve cover off and check for a loose one

Seems like it’s always cylinder 7. I couldnt find any apparent issues when I pulled it apart for sure but I know it was going to.

You probably wouldn't want to do this but I would 86 that Cold Air Intake, Orrr Clean it and oil it every 3,000 miles. Cold Air Intakes are a pain in the ass. Plus, your lifters are bad. Plus, check the springs on it. Or, just dump it.

Looks like it may be time for a GM performance LS 495 horsepower crate engine #19432424 5500 dollars by the time you start repairing the L99 it will be more cost effective and be new without all the the stupid bullshit that the L99 will need to be eliminated or deleted cost of parts to do so and after all the money and work it will still have 77,000 miles on the engine the GM performance crate engine # 19432424 will cost very close to the labor and parts needed to repair your L99 plus you'll have a new sealed crate engine start buying.everything you'll need to crack the L99 open send to a machine shop and replace lifers gaskets oil pump timing chain new valves and reconditioning heads new rod bearings or camshaft you'll see real fast the new crate engine #19432424 will be more cost effective and be completely new be more reliable and more powerful easy 95 horsepower upgrade that is a very streetable package
