Excellent coaching. I’ve watched a lot of your videos and one common theme to good tennis for all shots is - move your body weight forward for effortless pace and power. Pace and power cuts down your opponent’s time. The key to winning is to take away time from your opponent.
Great video, I agree with the blocking technique for the volleys. Most of the time I see players trying to get a lot of power from their volleys with their arm, but that’s not the way! Gotta get the bodyweight into the shot! Thanks for the video!
Patrick if your student is making a volley at the net , when possible should they volley back with aggressive power and direction away from their opponents or to their opponents weaker side either forhand or backhand ? Instead of giving their opponents multiple full power ground strokes right back at them. Example an overhead shot you would use placement and hit for a winner Instead of power puffing the ball back so the opponent can hit a ground stroke passing shot or rally back and forth again. Anyway shouldn't your volleys be aggressive for the win like your second serve so your opponents can't take advantage of it. Also excellent tennis camp program.
Most of their contactpoints are late because their splitstep is too late. You have less time compared to the preparation on the baseline. So the weight of the body should already be forward when the opponent hits the ball.
You don't benefit from the elasticity of your tendons, ligaments and muscles if the split step is not synchronised with your reaction time. Your reaction time is quite fixed and will not be shorter when you're closer to the net. I wouldn't see the need for a split step if they can't explode from it.
Sorry Patrick volley is not a monolithic stroke study the evolution of volleys from the Aussie volleys to modern volleys like McEnroe and Sampras volleys. The pro act is two things one lead with arms two keeping the non hitting shoulder stable along with the wrist.some volleys you move through some you don’t . He is correct on pushing off the. The deepvolleys as set up volleys are not done by Europeans except Edberg who was coached by an Englishman and not a continental European . back leg
I love doubles for the volley. However even the best players in the word just play like a wall deflecting the ball, wall never misses never takes a step forward. Want to volley well, Be a wall. McEnroe was just a a wall, got to the ball and deflected. Simple. And the one thing Patrick does not mention, try not to let the wrist break. Again those who can't teach.

Great tennis coach ♥️
They’re not moving forward on the volley as you explained
Yes, they need to work on moving forward more as he said
Shush
Tip: the boy with the blue cap has to hold his elbows more in front in the startingposition. Then the contactpoint is also more in front.
Thanks for the tip
Thankyou so much!
Awesome Patrick
