    I don't get how the tops of people's heads line up with eye level. Wouldn't they be too tall in this instance?

    This is a very good video mate. Do you have a video explaining the difference between the horizon line and the eye level line at all? Cheers.

    • @stephentraversart
      @stephentraversart  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks John. There is no difference in perspective theory. But I don’t like to use horizon as the ‘horizon’ in a scene, where the sky meets the earth, does not necessarily line up with the perspective horizon. So I only use eye level which doesn’t have a confusing second possible meaning. 😀

    What about the lense mode? (Long lense vs normal lense vs wide angle(fish eye))

    • @stephentraversart
      @stephentraversart  ปีที่แล้ว

      This can look great, but it is in effect a deliberate distortion and so is beyond my experience to generalise about I’m afraid. 😀

  • @dianecharest8365
    @dianecharest8365 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    But with that eye level so high, if you add people then won't they be too tall. If the tops of their heads are level to the horizon line.

    • @stephentraversart
      @stephentraversart  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Eye level is the level of the eyes of the person looking at the scene or of the camera more often, it is only the same level as people in the scene if the ground is all level and they are on the same level as the viewer/camera. Does this make sense Diane? 😀

    Your "correct" drawing has a flaw that is even worse. The windows get smaller the higher up they are. It looks completely wrong.

    • @stephentraversart
      @stephentraversart  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I have drawn hundreds of buildings from life and photos and I can assure you it is a common architectural feature that the ceiling heights get lower as the building rises. The windows usually reflect this. But of course, this was just a notional building with features artificially arranged to illustrate the mistakes more clearly. 😀
