A Day on the Bath and Hammondsport Railroad

- Hello and Welcome to Bessemer and Lake Erie 902! In this video, we visit the Bath and Hammondsport Railroad, which runs under the Livonia, Avon, and Lakeville Railroad banner. Like sister roads LA&L and WNYP (until 2019), the B&H has an all-Alco (American Locomotive Company) roster in the form of an RS-18U, C424Ms, and an S1. We begin our day in Savona, New York where C424 pair 424 and 422 are switching cars around at Inergy Midstream. After coming out for headroom and switching cars around, the power makes a rare run North to Cohocton to switch out the 422 for 423 and lift one tank car. Since the tank car and enginehouse are on 2 different lines through Cohcoton, 424 was used to pick up the tank car while 422 was taken down the other line to swap with 423. This allowed us to shoot action through both branches of the Bath and Hammondsport in Cohocton. After their business in Cohocton, we chase the train South to Painted Post, NY with a pickup in Savona along the way. The locomotives then leave their cars on the main, run around the train on a siding track, and head back North to the main enginehouse in Coopers Plains, NY. This was a great day full of the sights and sounds of Alco locomotives in 2020; something dissapearing all across the country as railroads progress into the future. Ooooh, they've got some track work to do in Savona. Kind of strange seeing those two big Alcos delivering one tank car, they could have done that with a 44 tonner and save $$$$. Great to se and hear those Alcos though, and they are so clean and shiny. Very good coverage, congrats.

Alco land is D&L Scranton PA it's were they run RS 3 s in pairs sometime s five or six at a time on the heavy grain train s only in the summer they have a restored Lehigh Valley Railroad C420 in Lehigh Valley Colors

Damn If I knew they were guaranteed to run all the way to Dresser Rand thru the street running section Id consider goin after these guys.
I believe they run through the street-running section every weekday morning. They stopped at the siding during my visit and left the cars on the main but I don’t know if that’s normal practice or not.
