Fun Fact: The Actor who plays Paulie, Mr Burt Young, was actually a professional boxer. He had a great amateur record while boxing in the Marines 32-2 and he was undefeated as a pro. He was trained by Cus D’Amato the same man who trained Iron Mike Tyson.
The only thing that I dislike about this movie is that it inspired me to overdo it lifting weights when I was a young man in 1990 or so. HBO was showing this movie regularly; so I watched it often. I got carried away, and I tried lifting the weight behind my head, like Rocky, and I wound up hurting my neck pretty badly. I have a feeling that I am not the only person who hurt himself in the gym because of Rocky movies.
Another bit of a Rocky and Karate Kid connection. The song "You're the Best" that was used for the tournament montage in Karate Kid 1 was originally going to be used in Rocky 3. It was only dropped when the song "Eye of the Tiger" was written for the film.
I remember in real life sugar ray Leonard was forced to retire with an eye problem. He then came out of retirement a few times and won several championships. So even in real life its not unheard of.
Technically speaking the ref shouldn't have been counting Rocky out at the end as Apollo didn't hit Rocky causing him to fall. Rocky fell by accident or slipping. The only explanation I can come up with for why the ref would be counting Rocky too is that since he warned Rocky before the round started that if he got in trouble one more time, he was going to stop the fight. The ref could've made the judgement call that Rocky had fallen because he had nothing left and would be unable to continue. So, he decided to use a ten count to give Rocky the chance to get up and prove he was still able to fight. The actual reason was that it was more dramatic for the movie.
One of the things I love most about this movie (I think you might’ve cut it out lol) is Mick’s devotion to Rocky. Mick literally doesn’t leave Rocky’s side - whether it’s 3a.m. in the church, or off to the side in Adrian’s room. That kind of friendship is very rare.
I agree that this was one more emotional- partly because we spent so much time getting to know them in the first movie. In the second movie, we love Rocky, Adrian, Mick etc and we’re totally invested in their story. It’s such a wonderful love story with a side of great boxing!
The reason that Stallone wrote in that Rocky was going to fight right-handed was that Stallone injured himself while weight training. I believe he tore his left pectoral muscle. So, he had Rocky train and fight right-handed so that he could give his injury time to heal.
Fans of the Rocky franchise have plotted the run that Rocky does in this movie based on where the house was and the landmarks in the film. According to Google Maps it is over a 30-mile run (48 km), which is longer than a full marathon. There have been fan events where people have run the entire distance.
Adrian never belittles rocky, never says something or an idea is dumb. She knows the power she holds over rocky and never abuses it. She worded her " one thing you can do for me" perfectly. She believes he can do it, and rocky responded. If rocky went the distance just by wanting to prove himself, imagine when he has more to fight for. Beating apollo wasn't his accomplishment. Fulfilling adrian's request was. He did it for her. Bc she believed.
When he was growing up & to this day to some extent, people assumed Sylvester Stalone was dimwitted, because he really speaks like Rocky. Of course, he's a rather brilliant screenwriter who talks that way, because his tongue is at least partially paralyzed due to injury or defect from birth. Some people think, since he sounds punchy; he is punchy.
"I probably seen this movie 50 times and it gets me everytime" I feel you bro i cried 3 times during this review lol great video guys keep up the good work you seem like really nice people :)
I try. When we first started i was so eager to get into some of the superhero movies and such that i would just talk too much or would want to just watch Emily watch the movie. TH-cam comments were not very kind about it but it was just a sincere joy to finally share these movies with my wife. I have gotten better about it though.
That was a wonderful reaction. I've seen quite a few reactions from the Rocky movies and I have to say only a few have been as enjoyable as this one. Really pleasant authentic. I'm from Germany and my older brother introduced me to the Rocky movies in the 80's and I still feel like you guys after all these years and dozens of times I've seen the movies. I also admire the discipline not to spoil too much. I don't think I could do that 😉. I'm going with you on the journey through the next parts of the franchise and I'm already very excited. Greetings from Germany
Thank you so much for your kind words, Sven. We just got done recording Rocky 3 which will be released on TH-cam next weekend and the full unedited reaction to our Hero Members tonight or tomorrow. I love these movies a lot also, i am hoping Emily learns to love them just as much. She does seem fond of them so far. :)
For me it's probably 2,5,1,6,3,4. I like to rank the 5th one higher because it feels like it's more real with bad financial situations and what a boxer has to deal with after his career is over, I know it gets a bad rap because of the casting and the soundtrack and filming style really dates it as a 90s movie. But it really continues the story arc of all the characters. The 4th one is great in that it fits just the most stripped down version of what a Reagan-era action movie blockbuster should be: great pace, direction and soundtrack, but it shows the least amount of character growth.
@@viggler oh trust me, I don't dislike 5 at all! At one time I had that up there in my favs, but as I grow older the fav order natural changes around. It's interesting cause to me I always heard people give 4 crap, and praising 5. To me, 5 is just the least motivational because I couldn't really relate to the story very well, likely cause as you said it's more real to a boxers life. I feel like with the other films, anyone can relate. Regardless, i still think 5 as an important part of the franchise! 🤟🤟
Hillariously he ask the priiest not to win but not to get beat up too badly... And the opposite happens. He gets the Crayola beat of out of him but wins.

Apollos quick but rockys timing is way off. Either his eye fighting right handed or nit enough training cause Adrian was in a coma. That's the irony here...Apollo is at hsi best and Rocky isn't and Apollo still can't knock him out. Edit: the fact rocky flips the switch back to left handed and knocks Apollo out leads me to believe it was the right handed fighting style handicapping him. Apollo never really was bothered by it.
Awesome reaction I really enjoyed watching along with u guys I hope u guys continue the rocky series it's a fun series to watch I hope u guys watch rocky 3 & 4
We will be recording Rocky 3 today and I will have it up for our hero members tomorrow and it will go live on TH-cam next weekend. Thank you for watching and we are really glad you enjoyed it.
This movie is loosely based on Rocky Marciano. Rocky Marciano had two left feet, was too short, amongst many other disadvantages. But he had the heart of a lion and spirit of a champion. He knocked out a great boxer like Apollo Creed who was faster and more technical in the1950s to become heavy weight champion. Rocky could take hits better than any one and trained harder and longer than all boxers. Rocky was never knocked out by anyone and he never lost one fight. He remains the only heavy weight boxer in the heavy weight history to win 49 fights and no losses. The most ever and 43 of them were knockouts.
Hi San, i'm sorry but what you said is incorrect. The story was never based on Rocky Marciano at all. It was inspired by a fighter named Chuck Wepner. th-cam.com/video/RFKRIawtJYg/w-d-xo.html

It's intrestig you comment about mickey and Adrian not wanting him to fight and say 'who does he have' ' the irony is you edited out the part where apollos own manager is scared to death of rocky because he knows Apollo nearly killed him but rocky kept coming after him....
Rocky II is the perfect example of how you make a sequel.
Rocky Balboa is the most fully developed character in motion picture history. You learn more about him and he grows in some way with each movie.
I’ve seen this movie hundreds of times and every single time Adrian says "win" I get a chill run down my spine!
Same. But for me it’s “yo Adrian I did it”! That’s what tears me up
Me, too!I've seen this a hundred times, and the same spot, the same line, goosebumps every single time.
Best moment in any film ever.
Adrians' iconic "Win!" is enough to make a grown man cry... and then head off to wrestle a goddamn grizzly bear lol

Can you imagine the atmosphere in the cinema on its first release when she said “win…”

The Rocky movies have a rewatchability factor like no other franchise. I could watch them all day every day.
