    Being a grown man now, you really can relate to Rocky and Apollo both had issues that i think just about every man has faced! Rocky wanting to take care of his family at any cost even if it would injury him! And then with Apollo dealing with his pride! If you are at least 30 years old you have definitely been through this! Rocky series just gets better with time!

    Hello. I was 21 years old when this movie came out in the theaters. It's been mentioned that this and the first Rocky movie are basically one film broken in two. Most of the movie had the quiet finesse and humor to bring you into the aftermath of the success Rocky gained in the first movie. A wife. A new home. The responsibilities that come with taking care of what is important to you. And growing up in general. But life often comes with some stickershock. The price you pay to keep what you've earned. And the ability to stand your ground as it shifts under your feet. It tests your mettle. Your commitment. Your true heart. To find the belief in yourself to keep fighting. Despite the cost.
    As you will learn in Rocky III, life keeps coming at you. The seemingly relentless wave of events keep coming. It tests your ability to take the beating, the hits, even the failures along the way. Which is reflective in Rocky's fighting style. But these are also movies. Where the magic of Hollywood makes you believe in the impossible. In a time and place outside your own world to suspend your reality to believe in another, if only for a short time. Way back in the 2oth century, before all the trappings of commercial box office totals dictate many stories, the audience was given a certain amount of respect. But the respect given now is to the receipts of the blockbuster.
    Great review. Glad you gave Stallone a chance to prove he wasn't the book you judged by the cover. And look forward to your reaction to Rocky III.
    P.S. The scene when Rocky hits the trashcan with his car was a small reminder of how the vision in his right eye was damaged by the fight with Creed.
    Robert Redford in THE NATURAL is also a great film. Enjoy

    I watched this in theaters with my aunt when it came out. to be sitting here some 44 years later and watch people still get so emotional is a true testament to the series. Can't wait to see you watch all 6. And screw what you hear about 5, it ain't terrible. it's not great, but its' still good, and definitely necessary.

    Yes, the acting is on point. They went full melodrama with this one. But we love it. The third Rocky was groundbreaking for 80s action movies. Touched on every level: drama, action, comedy at a fast pace with super great images. More stylish. Stallone is very underrated as a director.

    3&4 play into what the 80’s were especially the Cold War. The Creed series (namely C2) is a tie in to Rocky 4 .. Just make sure you watch the deleted locker room scene at the end of Creed 2 because it gives so much closure to these characters. It was criminal that they left it out of the film!

    Every time I go back to Philadelphia I visit the Rocky steps and eat at Geno Steaks. Head over to Pittsburgh for a while when I am in the area too. Pennsylvania has so much history you just have to know where to find it. A lot more Hollywood movies were filmed in Philadelphia too over the many years. Can't forget Squirrel Hill either and the great Mr Rogers.

    Keep in mind the forehead is the hardest part of the body. Fighters have broken their hands with forehead shots. More importantly Apollo is wasting energy.
    Plus defense isn't Rocky's strong suit. That's why he doesn't use condominiums.

    Honestly, don't skip any of the Rocky franchise. You would be skipping on his life's journey.
    Regarding the scene when Rocky is on the stairwell asking Mickey to work at his gym. Rocky gets very emotional as he is thanking Mick. Stallone gave such a great performance in that scene.

    • @filmbenders
      @filmbenders  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Don't worry, we won't be skipping any! Stallone really did do such a good job in that scene. Before starting this Rocky series I had no idea the kind of acting talent Stallone has, but I know now! He is a criminally underrated actor.

    i think your mrs, if more clever about boxing than you think, some of her comments, are really on point about the real world of boxing, some of what you see, in this movie, are based on muhammid ali, with joe frazier, they fought ali lost and won, when ali won, it was a last round thing, they were both spent, ali was dying in the corner so was joe frazier, joe could not come out for the last round, bit like them both falling down and rocky getting up, little twist, the 3rd film, i wont spoiler it, your wife is right, lets say, it's the george foreman fight, rope a dope, thats all i will say without spoiling, give my view, when you watch rocky 3.
    it was said that fight with joe was so brutal, some of themselves were left in the ring. great reaction, really solid comments,

    Omg...you can tell when Millennials. or Gen Z reacts to these. Rocky didn't want to admit he had issues. That was what real men were like! They were never to admit weakness or failure! Also, Rocky never comes out of the gate winning. He wins because of his stamina and endurance. He tired his opponents out.
