There’s a couple of baby patterns (free) that I love so thought I’d suggest them. One is the Tegan baby hat by Julie Taylor which has a cute knot at the top and the other is Simply the Best Cardigan for Babies by Purl Soho.
Love the idea of splitting the cable into an icord, and maybe a bit of a high-low hem. You could curve both the front & back with some short rows? Agree with on the BWM pink, that would make a lovely baby blanket. Keep leftover sock yarn for a matching pair of baby socks..... Thank you for another lovely episode.
I also got bit by the ranunculus bug this year! Just like you, I knitted a t-shirt version, and I am very happy with it! I am dreaming about casting on more ranunculi, in silk mohair, in woolly yarn, in other plant yarns, long sleeves, short sleeves….the options are endless❤
Another lovely catch up Nadine - you're looking gorgeous. That little hat is so sweet, thank you for mentioning the pattern and your blanket gift is amazing ...... such a lovely gift. I was so happy to hear that your Grandma visited you and how very special of her to bring your little baby girl an octopus, what a special gift.
I think the split hem sounds like a good option , if you want to wear now, but if you think the weather is going to be too hot pretty soon, I would just make it a little bit longer and wait to use it next year no matter what you will choose… it will be lovely as you are ❤ So happy to find out…. You are having a girl! 🎉
that beanie is just too cute. newborn knits are just so precious. my nephew's first pair of socks were so teeny tiny. i like the idea of a split hem for the ranunculus with an i-cord border.
I am a South African, married to a Brit, and I love all the English expressions you use! Regarding the ranuncelous top. I personally will knit it according to a favorite top and not for being pregnant. You are pregnant for such a short period of time.
Hahah I’m glad you enjoy them! Isn’t it funny what expressions you pick up throughout life and make your own. That’s such a great point, I’ll only be pregnant for a couple more months after all! It only feels like forever 😂😂
Another incredible podcast. Love the ideas and changes you have for your Ranunculus. The cable down the sides is awesome. I like the idea of splitting the cable into the icord split hem. Your baby blanket turned out beautiful and I’m sure was so appreciated. And the little baby hat is so precious. You will have lots of fun baby knitting. The pottery dish you made is so pretty and definitely very special. Also love the Bendigo pink yarn and the blue/green sock your for your father-in-law. Amazing ideas. Also so nice you have friends having babies in the same time frame so they can grow up together and definitely share along with the life changes. Incredible.
Go for the split icord. Can’t wait to see it finished. That yarn for baby girls blanket is wonderful. So happy to have you back. Love seeing your baby bump. Take care and stay safe.
Twinsies! I bought two balls of Dolce in the same colour! I was going to make an Anker's Shirt, but it seems a little too heavy for an Aussie Summer. I may buy another ball and make a cardigan, which would be a great feel for Spring or Autumn. I have that colour sock yarn too...
If you liked the peachy keen hat, I would also recommend the “Bearly Bonnet” by Pure Stitches, which is another free pattern. They were two of the first patterns I downloaded when I first taught myself how to knit earlier this year
I like your idea of using the cables on the side to do an i-cord for your Ranunculus. I just finished mine and I started with 90 sts on the neckline with a lace weight yarn. The neck is still a pretty tight fit. I did not use her very stretchy cast on so maybe that was a mistake! Mine was cropped but I don't wear dresses that often so I ripped the ribbing back and knit about 3-4" more on the body. I'd like to make another one with sock yarn. I'm guessing yours is from your first ball of yarn so far?
Ranunculus: you could do the deep split at the sides and add I-cord ties so it's adjustable for growing belly and later shrinking belly post-baby, especially if you want to use up the yarn; but, I also like the cropped version since you could still wear it after the baby arrives (and it is done before it gets too hot). In both cases, you can use it again for baby 2, 3, etc 😉
Love your idea for the split Hem,/ sides for the Ranunculus. If you are planning on wearing this while pregnant, you will need the front longer than the back to compensate for the "lift" the baby bump will give. You may not wear it very much while pregnant, due to the weather, as you mentioned, so the question is, when do you want it. Or just make a non pregnant one later. Love the modifications. I didn't put the short rows in the front and it doesn't hug my neck as much, which feels less chokie for me. Love the little hat. Fun.
Ranunculus: I cast on 72sts for the neck, then it's easy to increase 18sts to make it up to 90 sts. I like the low hem idea, as you have enough yarn. I also took ideas for Ranunculus from Kaci. I've made one long sleeved in Drops Air and one t-shirt in King Cole Finesse (cotton and silk dk).🌹
I love the baby bump, but you shouldn't alter a knit that you will wear for years for just a few weeks of bump! Have it made for your return shape in a few months.
If you’re planning on breastfeeding, I would go for the cropped Ranunculus. You can then wear it with a nursing camisole or dress and easily breastfeed and still have some coverage, if that’s important to you. It would work with the slit hem too, you just would have some more bulk to get out of the way.
Lovely lovely lovely podcast. You took me back 50yrs with all the wedding talk. Make one frm each category.
Good luck with bubby. Xxoo😊😊😊😊❤
Your Ra-bump-ulus looks great!
Hahah I love it!!! 😆 I’m totally using this as the name of my ranunculus project on Ravelry

These patterns are just too sweet, I’ve added them to my favourites on Ravelry 😍 thanks for the recommendation!
Love seeing you back!! I think a deep split on your sweater and splitting the cable for icords sounds amazing!!!

Ooooo love the idea of a curved front and back hem as well. That would be gorgeous!! Thank you as always for your comment 🩷🩷

Wonderful! It really does seem like once you do one ranunculus, you just can’t stop 😄 so addictive!

Thanks Gail! 🩷🩷 it was amazing to have Grandma here, she’s just the best 🥰
I’m also making a ranuculus! I love the colour of yours 😍
Woohoo!! Aren’t they just ridiculously addictive 😍

Great suggestion, thank you!! I was so happy as well, the world could always use more girls 😉☺️

The newborn socks are just unbearably adorable aren’t they!! I think I’m leaning towards the split hem too 😍

I think option 3 or split icord! Any will look fabulous on you. Congrats on the impending baby 🎉🎉
Thank you!! ❤

Thank you so much for the kind note 🩷 I’m definitely learning towards the split icord hem!! Talk to you soon 😊
I love your ranunculus and look forward to seeing how you decide to finish it!
Your Peachy Keen Baby Hat is so cute! 🧶I really like your pottery bowl. It would be great for stitch markers!
Thank you!! I definitely need to make another one soon - it was tough to give away 😆

Thanks for your lovely note 🩷🩷 I think I will have to try the split I cord - I’m just so curious to see how it would turn out!
You can knit those colour work socks! It’s easier then you think-9” circulars are fantastic for colour work.
A good tip thank you!! I’ll have to find my courage and give it a go 😁

Sounds like you have wonderful taste 😉😉😉 agree it’s probably a bit much for summer but a cardi would be beautiful!

Thankyou for a great podcast Nadine, love the baby hat and your Ranaculus jumper the colour is amazing 🧶
Love the little bowl you made..very special. Lovely video Nadine.

I loved the idea of side splits with iCord for your Ranunculus.
Me too, I think I’ll have to try it to see how it goes!

Great point about it needing to be longer in the front! I’ve just started noticing that my usual tops aren’t quite long enough anymore 😅

Sounds like you are a ranunculus expert!! Kaci had some wonderful ideas (as she always does)
Love your ranunculus I think you could keep cropped save the yarn and go back and lengthen after baby. 😊
Oooooo I like that idea!!
Do the split cable! That would be so interesting 🌟
I agree!! It’s itching my brain - I just have to see how it turns out
I love the baby bump, but you shouldn't alter a knit that you will wear for years for just a few weeks of bump! Have it made for your return shape in a few months.
That’s a great point! I guess it only feels like I’ve been pregnant forever 😂
It would've been sweet if you'd also added a yellow or white band on the engagement socks for when you got married (since you're still not done. ❤
Oh gosh I wish I had thought of that!! A really great idea
Hello from switzerland 🇨🇭. I love your Podcast. 😂❤Lysandre has a Podcast! In French !
Hello!! How wonderful - I’ll have to hunt down a link to her podcast so that I can include it in the description box

Your ranaculus look beautiful.
